Transmigration To Magus World-Chapter 57: Unyielding to the End
By all logic, the Consolidating Faction should not have arrived so late. Even the Left Faction, always vigilant, had anticipated the confrontation and waited in the shadows, preparing to intervene if necessary. So surely, the Consolidating Faction, keenly aware of Aizen’s rising influence, would have taken steps to protect Kean, their rising star. Although they placed great confidence in Kean, they should have realized that Aizen wasn’t alone in this battle.
Aizen had been part of the Left Faction since before he advanced to outer disciple, so even now, as an outer disciple, he was part of their ranks. He had demonstrated exceptional skill and resilience, displaying his true worth, though his power had drawn its fair share of attention and trouble. Yet the Left Faction would never ignore such issues and would certainly step in to shield him if things escalated.
The Consolidating Faction should have anticipated this dynamic. Even if they weren’t foolish enough to think that Kean could handle everything alone, they would have prepared backup to ensure his safety. But strangely, the Consolidating Faction’s reinforcement team only appeared after Kean and his comrades had already fallen to Aizen. This late arrival suggested other forces had intervened, delaying their arrival.
Sure enough, as soon as Stocky Man Gong arrived, his curses revealed the truth.Consolidating Faction’s team had been intercepted en route by Left Faction members. While both sides managed to avoid an outright clash, the delay bought Aizen just enough time to vanquish Kean and his group. No one had expected Aizen’s strength to be so fearsome—not even the Left Faction. For Aizen to defeat Kean’s entire group in such a short span was nothing short of extraordinary.
Stocky Man Gong, leading the Consolidating Faction disciples, had assumed that even if they faced interference, they would arrive in time to witness Aizen battered and barely standing. But instead, the scene they encountered was one of carnage. The battlefield, littered with bodies, forced Stocky Man Gong to reconsider his assumptions. He even wondered if the two Left Faction deacons, Giordano and Nostrad.
, might have lent Aizen a hand.
This conflict had now escalated to a factional level, involving high-ranking deacons from both sides. While duels between disciples are common and often overlooked, a deacon’s direct involvement in disciple conflicts is a severe matter that could trigger an open clash between factions.
"Alright, Left Faction," Stocky Man Gong growled, attempting to suppress his rage. "You’ve shown your hand, but Consolidating Faction won’t forget this. Giordano, Nostrad
—helping this boy kill our disciples—this is something Consolidating Faction will remember." Stocky Man gong’s tone was strained, and he clenched his teeth, barely able to hold back his anger.
Round-Faced only laughed dismissively. "Stocky Man Gong , you’re barking up the wrong tree. I, Nostrad.
, am not so easily intimidated. Not only did we not interfere, but even if we had, what would the Consolidating Faction do about it? With just you and these eight juniors, you think you can make such bold threats?"
Giordano, bearded and calm, smirked with cold eyes. "Stocky Man Gong, if you keep whining, you won’t be walking out of here. How Left Faction handles its own is none of Consolidating Faction’s business."
Stocky Man Gong’s chest heaved with rage, his face darkening at Nostrad’s words, which struck a nerve. Could it really be that Aizen had managed to eliminate all four Consolidating Faction disciples on his own? His gaze shifted to Aizen, taking in his half-bruised face—a clear result of Kean’s poisoned needles. If Kean had been forced to rely on his poisonous weapon, Aizen was indeed formidable.
"Take their bodies," Stocky Man Gong barked, glaring at Aizen with conflicting emotions as he ordered the outer disciples to retrieve the corpses.
But as they moved to comply, Aizen’s cold voice rang out, halting them in their tracks.
"You can take their bodies," he said, his voice chillingly firm, "but any valuable items are mine. Leave them here."
The eight disciples paused, looking to Stocky Man Gong for direction, but Aizen’s unyielding words held them back. He could feel sensation returning to his face; the numbness from the poison was fading, and with his strength restored, he was confident enough to stand his ground. His tone left no room for argument, and his attitude was ironclad. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Giordano and Nostrad exchanged looks, faint smiles appearing on their faces. Aizen’s audacity and talent were exactly what the Left Faction needed. If he could continue to hone his abilities and confidence, he could one day hold a prominent role within their ranks.
Stocky Man Gong’s eyes narrowed, his gaze sharp. His anger spiked, and he snarled, "Care to repeat that?" He let his energy build, the overwhelming aura of a Peak magus body refining stage warrior filling the air, making his five-foot stature feel imposing and towering.
Aizen chuckled derisively, his usual disdainful smirk creeping onto his face. He found it laughable that Stocky Man Gong, despite being a Peak Magus body refining stage, would make such a thoughtless threat. While he knew he couldn’t match Stocky Man Gong in direct combat, the presence of Giordano and Nostrad meant he had nothing to fear. Now was the time to exploit his faction’s support to its fullest advantage.
Without another word, Aizen shifted, stepping in front of the eight disciples, making it clear that he was willing to stand firm.
"Impudent!" Stocky Man Gong’s eyes bulged in fury, and he stomped the ground, shaking it violently. A cloud of bamboo leaves rose three feet off the ground as the air itself seemed to tremble. Yet Giordano and Nostrad responded with sneers, their killing intent rising in the air, clearly willing to face off against him. Giordano ’s cultivation matched Stocky Man Gong’s at Peak magus body refining stage, and though Nostrad was slightly weaker, his magus body refining power still made him a formidable opponent.
Despite the tension, Aizen understood that a fight was unlikely to break out. Even if it did, a few more people would die, but he held the upper hand in this situation, and it was unlikely he’d be the one to fall.
"Let’s go," Stocky Man Gong hissed, glaring at Aizen and the two Left Faction deacons. He spat out the command, seething as he turned to leave, the other eight disciples hurrying after him, tails between their legs. They understood the reality of the situation: they would have to tread carefully around Aizen from now on.
The events of the day had profoundly altered the balance between the factions. Aizen had not only survived but triumphed, and Kean, a highly-valued Consolidating Faction disciple, lay dead. With other recent losses, including Krul, the Consolidating Faction was now without a leader among the outer disciples, while Aizen’s rising strength was unmistakable.
Rumors were likely to spread that Aizen might soon become Left Faction’s new representative within the outer Clan, and any remaining Consolidating Faction disciples would have to show restraint around him. After all, in the Clan, the price for killing a fellow disciple wasn’t high. While black-robed disciples could kill each other for a penalty of fifty silver taels, outer disciples’ deaths were only penalized at two hundred silver taels—affordable, given the power dynamics. And since Aizen’s defeat of Krul had occurred within an official challenge, he hadn’t even been fined.
With Kean’s group initiating their own attack and facing death as a result, Aizen had no penalties to worry about for their deaths, either.
The Consolidating Faction had lost dearly in this encounter. Their attempt to suppress Aizen’s influence had backfired, leaving them leaderless and even more vulnerable, while Aizen’s position within the Left Faction continued to solidify. In sending Kean, they had inadvertently provided Aizen with the perfect stepping stone for his rise.
