Chapter 308: 308 Progress in the dungeon

[OP: ]

After their break ended and they were in a good enough condition to fight once again, they started moving forward and the steam that had been paused for a while resumed.

The first big hurdle had passed, however, it was not the last one they were going to face on this difficult path.

Their next opponents were stronger skeletons, undead creatures that physical attacks would not work on, as well as traps that they would have to cross very carefully if they wanted to survive in that situation.

It wasn’t easy until that point, and it was only going to get worse.

They continued watching them, looking after them while continuing with their own work.

There might be uncertainties in the hearts of the Clubs members, but they had faith in them.

They knew if anyone could do this, it was them.

So...

After the pretty undead, their next opponents were more skeletons.

-Boooooooooom!

Just that these skeletons were mages instead of soldiers in armor. And were much stronger than the ones they had faced before.

Still, they were nothing compared to the monster they had dealt with a while ago.

-Swish! Swish! Swish!

And since they already had experience dealing with magic-throwing skeletons, they dealt with them more easily than the skeleton soldiers.

-Clank!

Then came knights riding skeleton horses.

-Boooooooooooom!

Not dullahan but just knights with their heads in their places.

-Clung! Clung! Clung!

They certainly gave them some hard time since they came in a group of three to six, however, compared to the mages, they were leveled and easy to distract and deal with after breaking down their formations.

It took them longer to separate, and deal with all of them one by one, but it was the most optimal way to deal with them.

They knew they had to preserve their strengths for the rest of the sub-bosses, so, they were doing things after thorough planning and careful examinations.

Not changing after a little observation, they were doing what an experienced party does when facing opponents they have no knowledge or experience of.

They were doing well now, and not long after their first sub-boss, they reached a room similar to the one they had faced a while ago.

The audience in their world, the common people who were seeing them challenge these creatures with astounded curiosity were all shocked at how they all had grown up in real time.

From having difficulty dealing with the skeleton soldiers to dealing with the knights like it was nothing at all, they found them amazing and even more admirable.

[Second room, an orc undead so large that they looked like small children before him. A grotesque mix of mortal organs and an unsightly being that was a personification of dread and corruption... they faced the next challenge with not fear or anxiety, but with bravery and determination burning in their eyes.]

The first monster was something they had no information on so they were taken aback from the start. They will face challenges unknown to them, that much was clear to them by that point, however, the rest of the three big opponents, the monsters on another level from the other mobs in this dungeon, were not completely unknown to them anymore.

They had prior knowledge of the three remaining big opponents, so they utilized it and even though they did not know in what order they were going to appear, they did their best to keep their predetermined positions and fought the opponent with the help of the new artifacts they had received from Her.

[The staff that allowed one to use the powers of any element they desired turned out to be the greatest factor for their victory against the unsightly undead orc.]

They won against the orc general that the party of the previous challengers found unbearably difficult to deal with in a way that surprised even the viewers and the spectating higher beings.

It was a display of the finest kind of commanding and utilization of all the right powers at their disposal.

They knew the undead was no skeleton or ghost, but instead a zombie that only acted on its highly superior instincts.

It was a pure combat master that used to be a knight far above the level of a grandmaster of current times, and even though its combat abilities had decreased dramatically, it was still a near-immortal creature that was not affected by the simple physical wounds.

[They moved forward without rest, and faced the ghosts for the first time.]

They chopped off all its limbs with wind magic, used powerful magic flames to burn it down completely so it couldn’t use it during the fight, and after extinguishing the creature from this world completely instead of just defeating it, they moved forward.

And then, things were easier for them.

[With the power of an extremely potent light element granted to them through the unique potions, they freed the pitiful creatures hanging between the boundaries of life and death.]

They practically ran from the second boss room to the third one and though there were traps littered all over the place, thanks to the sharp eyes of their No.6, the gambler, they crossed them without any difficulties.

And somehow they didn’t meet any memory fragments in their path, so it was a fortunate coincidence for them this time.

[Third door, third challenge. It was a ghost this time as well.]

However, it was not something they just defeated in a few minutes.

It was a different opponent from the other ghosts they had dealt with, one that the light element did not affect much.

They had known about this particular creature as well, thankfully, so they were prepared already.

[It was a challenging battle as well.]

For three hours, they just dodged all the attacks that the enemy was throwing at them until the effects of its unique skill vanished. And after that, the light element was significantly more effective.

[It was admirable how they endured the ghastly presence of the ghost monster for so long...]

The difficult battle against that being reminded them of the battle they had with the attractive ghost. And the way they still endured and kept going shocked the spectators of their world once again.

Even though they could only see them, the way everything was recited by the voice of the world in the form of the Epic, a phenomenon most of them were seeing for the first time, conveyed the true emotions they were experiencing.

The pain, joy, despair, and sadness they were seeing as they made their way to the next challenge was known to the public of their world, resulting in a positive response from them.

They were thieves who had stolen many precious things from the important people of this world, earning their resentment.

However, they did not harm the normal citizens, or the common masses in any way, resulting in a great response from the majority of the world.

-Swiiiiiiiiiiiish~.

No one could deny what they were doing was at least entertaining.

Most of the population of their world was watching them through the countless screens that had appeared all over the world.

The people that the four unique keys belonged to had debated over what they should do about everything that was going on.

However, since they weren’t using the gate that belonged to Them and were instead sincerely challenging an open dungeon that anyone could use, they didn’t know how to change the opinions of the masses.

They were considering those bastards who were doing something obviously futile as some awesome people.

They did not know what the people who possessed the four keys and their predecessors had faced in order to keep the keys, and what lengths they had gone through to clear this particular dungeon.

This was their first time ever seeing the deadly dungeon only mentioned in history books with their own eyes, so they were astonished.

They were common people who did not know the truth behind what was happening or what was going to happen as they went forward... they did not know about the absolute despair that was the main cause of the creation of that spare gate.

But if these thieves were going to continue with what they were doing, continue forward to the center and heart of this dungeon, the ones who knew about That thing, knew well how the common people were going to react after seeing it.

A creature that not even all the absolutes had managed to last against for even a few minutes.

A disaster that if freed into the outside world, would undoubtedly become the cause of destruction of everything.

If heavens forbid, that damned dungeon ever breaks down and those creatures somehow make their way to the mortal lands, the destruction of their world was a certainty.

They would all die and only hell would be left behind, the ones who knew about this fallen fortress knew it very well.

That’s why they had stopped challenging this dungeon and instead made a place from where they could keep a close eye on the elements inside there.

But those damned thieves...

-Ooooooooooooong!

"Captain!"

"It’s a memory fragment, everyone! Be careful! Whatever you see is not Real! Just observe and endure! That’s all we can do!"

They went ahead and challenged the unconquerable fortress without even any kind of absolute power among them.

Trusting their teamwork and the good items they were fortunate enough to receive.

-Ooooooooooooong!

"Don’t let your mind get carried away! Think of the battle with the bone mage knight! Come back-"

They were facing the memory fragments for the first time now.

And, all those who knew about those creatures, considered them to be the worst enemy of someone that does not possess a sturdy mind...

The worst enemy of common people like them.
