Chapter 310: 310 From group to a Team

[Friday’s POV: ]

When we started with this dungeon none of them had any special connection with one another. They were comrades connected with a common thread and that was it.

There was no incentive that bound them together like that of an adventurer party, or even an ingroup.

They were following master because of their own greed, and for the things that she had promised to each and every individual of this group.

’The king was promised a happy life with his wife and a eternal permanent cure for her while the Queen was promised a great amount of unique creatures like the one she recovered from that underground prison.’

The Crocs was a dumb creature that lost to them so he belonged to her, so that aside, our Ace the captain was promised a world that he desired.

There were many things that Miss Monica wanted but there was only one thing the master offered her... salvation. And from what I know, she followed her right after hearing that word.

Master T was a martial artist that walked in the path of self improvement so lord Lucy showed him how he could surpass his current level and reach new levels through a completely new kind of cultivation method.

Our Miss Handler didn’t really have that she needed since she did not have anything to begin with, but the master promised her she would find something meaningful if she followed her.

The bishop was a greedy bastard even greedier than Miss gambler. She showed him what true treasures of the world could mean and he became her dog.

While Miss Gambler who had the sharpest eyes among any of us gambled her entire life in exchange for a wish from master.

’She wanted something that master already knew about, so there was no need for me to worry about anything.’

Master knew everything and she was seeing ten steps ahead of everything we were doing.

’Lord Lucy might be able to plan things even better than her, but she was an amazing person that cared about us.’

A fact that made her different from lord Lucy.

-Clank! Clank! Clank!

We had successfully got out of the illusion dreams of the memory fragment creatures and those creatures were a nightmare reincarnate.

Even I thought for a moment that I was going to lose myself in the horror that I was seeing there, and if not for my connection with my master that I could not forget even in that realm, I would have most certainly lost myself.

’I know she helped us somehow. I know for a fact she did something that took those creatures away since the nightmare that I was seeing was cut off from midway like the thing that was playing it had suddenly disappeared.’

It was surprising at first however, I figured out soon from the residue of her presence in that area that they had materialised in the physical world from their spectral forms.

’They were watching after us while operating the steam or whatever it was called in a form close to one’s soul.’

They were spectors right now and it was an authority they were granted a long time ago.

They could turn into almost a ghost-like thing and just watch things happening in the physical world.

They would be there, they could do anything they wanted but they couldn’t interfere with the physical world themselves before getting out of the spectator form.

’I could hear the voice of the world since I was a child of nature and I know it was talking about us right now.’

The voice was telling everything to the entire world, telling what we were doing right now, how we were doing it, and what things were happening even beyond us.

I could feel something unique growing inside of me thanks to that, and it seemed like I was growing myself.

-Boooooooooooooom!

I was getting stronger, and better with the things that I knew.

Adapting to the situation was becoming easy so dealing with the final and fourth sub-boss, a shadow warrior that would have been unreasonably difficult to deal with otherwise, seemed easy to me.

The others had developed a unique bond that they did not possess throughout this fight as well, a bond that was beyond just a one sided greed or depended on selfishness.

’We were working together in true meaning right now.’

That attractive Miss undead shook every one of us. Even I was going to give my all for them and use the power that I was not allowed to use before anyone else.

That fight made all of us to push past our limits and in that situation, we had no choice but to trust each other with every bit of our lives and do everything it took to get out of that situation.

It wouldn’t even be wrong to say she made us what we are right now—a team.

-Swish! Swish! Swish!

"Left!"

-Clank!

We dealt with the things that came after the memory fragments and reached the forth and last remaining challenge and, currently, we had almost crossed that challenge as well.

-Booooooooooooooom!

"Now!"

Combining one’s attacks with one another took an absurd synchronisation with the other party but, right now, not just one or two people, including myself, captain, the dumb bastard, master T, Crocs, Miss Monica, and even the bishop had combined our power into one single attack, an orb of light that wasn’t actually an orb of light but, the shadow warrior doesn’t have to know that.

’What we did was something practically unheard of.’

But we pulled it off.

After sharing more than one life and death experiences, we were now connected with a strange kind of bond that did not require long words or specific instructions.

There was someone to give us instructions and we just have to follow them, while keeping our own instincts sharp.

Whenever her commands that were almost always precise and meaningful failed to bare any fruits, she would tell us or we would just feel something is out of balance and retreat all the into the back.

It had become an instinctive response now.

-Boooooooooooom!

This time as well, the creature tried its best to distract us, or redirect us towards wrong things or made us do things that would be beneficial to him ultimately, it was a master manipulator...

But it failed before her.

[Ding!]

"Haaaa! Finally!"

"It’s dead! The final one is done as well!"

"Good work everyone."

We were far away from one another right now and still, instead of using our Comms, they were shouting like crazy people.

"Now, only the final boss left."

Under her guidance, we made use of the smartness of the creature and manipulated it ourselves.

She planned everything perfectly, we timed everything instinctively, and after finding all the necessary openings, exploiting them, and damaging the creature to a certain extent, we gave it a little room to breathe.

’We knew this specific creature would go berserk after getting hurt to a certain point and since it was smart, even though it was an undead, it could have understood we knew about its characteristics.’

So, she made sure some of the creature’s plans that she had inferred already would actually work, and though some of us had to get hurt in the process, at the end, with everyone doing their part, we did it.

"It’s done."

We defeated the smartest creature we had ever come across in this dungeon, as well as in our entire time together as a team.

The creature, a mess of shadow and dark energy lay dead on the ground before us now.

The doors were right behind us.

The next challenge would be the final boss that was said to be invincible, but we would only know what it actually is after facing it ourselves.

’We have dealt with all these things so, even if we come across an undefeatable foe now, I’m pretty sure we can at least run away from it.’

Or, at the end, they are watching after us.

She isn’t going to let any of us die at the very least... hopefully.

"Take a little rest and we will move."

"Captain?!"

"The path to the centre should be a long way from here from what we know, right. We will have to walk a lot from here to reach the centre and it’s time to take the periodic break already.

Instead of taking a break here, it’s better to rest in a better place."

"Right... this place is a mess."

"Crocs do not like this goo."

The energy from the shadow creature was still present all over the place and it was kind of a sticky thing that irritated even the mixblood.

We had fought for hours to defeat that thing as well, and it was pretty much as long as we had spent to defeat that pretty miss undead.

’Almost three days have passed already.’

Because of us, master would have to skip school today...

Thankfully, they have substitutes better than us who can attend their classes in our stand.

’And Miss Eva will take care of things there anyway. She has become unrecognisable now.’

We just have to do what we can here.

"Right. Let’s move from here after clearing the area."

There were many things here that we were instructed to collect including the monster corpses and special elements that would be useful in the future.

It was important work, so we got to that right away.

-Swiiiiiiiiish...

’None of them had thought it was possible at first. Coming here from the front gate, challenging the dungeon just to reach the centre, going against mythical creatures... they did not like that idea at first.’

But now we have almost conquered this place.

’The four guardians were defeated, so now all that’s left is the centre of this entire fortress.’

-Boooooooooooooooooom...!

Or so all of us thought until walking a little further from the fourth room...
