Chapter 323: 323 Upcoming exams

[El’s POV: ]

"The exams will start next week, and there are some things you must know before you give your first ever midterms in the great academy."

Mister Villax was starting his nonsense that we already knew about better than he did himself.

"He’s going to say something strange like how we gotta have the best scores among all the other classes."

It was an unintentional fact coming from Nessy that just happened to be loud enough for his good pointy ears to catch it.

"Yes, Miss Agnes. How great that you have learned to read minds now~. How could you possibly have figured out I was going to say that~?"

The first impression of this homeroom teacher of ours on the rest of the students was that of a strict teacher that stuck to the book and the rules.

He was a master spirit handler, perhaps one of the best in this world and he took advantage of this fact in every single class and reminded us just why he was a one of a kind master that had contract with not one but Two superior rank spirits.

’Students used to fear and obey him in the first few weeks and that made his job easier compared to the rest of the teachers.’

But things changed thanks to some special individuals in this lovely class of his.

"Wow~. Now that you have read my mind already, you must already know I’m also going to Request all of you to do your very best without caring about anything else, right?"

"Of course. You still have that loan to pay back."

"Hmm? El? Did you say something?"

She was sitting right before me, in the second last seat, a place she usually doesn’t prefer during the homeroom sessions.

"Nope. Nothing that you should know about. The one that needed to hear it already heard it loud and clear."

We own that manipulative, dumb, weakass bastard son of a gangster after we gave him the branch from the great secret hidden special tree of the spirit world.

’He was my dog that could neither speak against me now.’

He danced in the palm of my hand willingly and I gave him the little treats that he worked so hard to get in the form of information, and of course, resources.

"Hmmm. I don’t know why you want us to do our best since I don’t know what you actually get from us performing well in anything that happens in this academy.

But, though my observations, I have figured out that you are somehow rewarded-"

"And that would be enough. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Miss Agnes, however, the real reason I’m telling you to do your very best is because of the rankings."

That bastard was still pretty young for an elf so he was easier to manipulate than the other elves of this academy.

And unlike him, they did not have any unparalleled passions for further growth so manipulating them wasn’t that easy... not that it mattered.

Almost all the common teachers of this academy were dancing as I wanted, and that gave me enough pleasure that I wanted to attend every single one of the classes that are held and sleep through every one of them.

’It is always quite the show when they try even talking back to me in a louder or angry voice.’

The drama that starts after that and runs throughout the entire lecture... haaaa~.

’That’s the kind of fun I live for.’

But, sadly, this bastard dumb teacher of ours really had some important things to tell this time, so, we weren’t hindering him or this class on this fine day.

"As you already know, the rankings of each individual is assessed during all the tests that take place in the academy throughout the academic years.

The monthly review tests, the midterms, the review tests for certain students that the board of education handpicks, and lastly the end of year exams.

Every single one of them are as important as the attendance you maintain, and the points that you have earned throughout that time period.

The rankings of the entrance exams are always only indicative of the students who have the greatest potential among the others while the rest of the tests that happen throughout the year, is what shows the academy the true improvement.

You are judged by the masters and the best of their fields, even the headmaster and the vice headmaster interviews some of the copies themselves on special occasions.

Though, I must warn you, who would check your written answer sheets would be completely random.

Your test sheets might come to me, or it might directly go to the headmaster, it all depends on the random distribution system.

Though, as for your practicals-"

"Practicals?"

"There will be practical exams?"

"Wait, what?! No one ever told us there would be practical exams during the midterms!"

It was a shock of the year for them.

"Oh? You didn’t know you would have practical demonstration exams for each of the subjects you have taken?

Well, apologies... you must be the most ignorant batch I have dealt with so, let me be the one to break the bad news to you all."

This was the Class A, the most elite class filled with most of the best performing individuals.

And still, aside from a few of them, like my Nes and Ras, and Rex, the rest of the babies did not even know there would be practical tests.

’What was worse though, was the fact that there would be practical tests for even the subjects that were purely theoretical.’

The teacher told them this fact right after the sad news, and the classroom was filled with arguments and screaming noises.

"You should have told us earlier, teacher! We don’t even have time to recall all those things but we will have to do practical demonstrations of them as well?"

"That’s absurd, not just a bad joke. How are we even supposed to prepare for a practical exam that was only taught theoretically?!"

"This is against the academy’s policy of giving all of the students equal opportunities! I want to complain-"

{ "Shut up. All of you baboons." }

They were making all kinds of noise and excuses for this new revelation so he had to use his Mana infused voice to shut them up.

These dumb babies were forgetting something very important at that moment, so, arguing about equality was the last thing they should have done.

-Thump!

"You are Class A." He said with a deeper voice while slamming his white magic cane on the table before him.

"If you don’t know a lot about something, what are the chances the other classes do?

Ptfff, do you think all the other teachers are as good as me?

Hahaha, some classes might not even know there would be a practical exam system like this one unless one of you rattles it out.

Though, I’m pretty sure since you know this, at least a few other classes would know about this as well."

The teachers weren’t supposed to tell about the test formats to the students of any class, however, it was their obligation to tell them about something that the majority of the class was curious about.

’It was a little loophole that cost me trade of some useless information with this bastard, and it was worth it.’

At least everyone present here knew about the test format of this midterm which meant they knew about how the test would include the practical implications of their knowledge.

’They still don’t know about the survival game, but that doesn’t matter.’

They knew what they had to do when taking the exams, and my protagonists as well as the hidden gems were going to do much better than they otherwise would have.

[ "It’s a nice strategy to show our abnormally high result points aren’t obtained through cheating or any kind of manipulation... but since when do you care about this sort of thing?" ]

[ "Ever since I knew there would be intervention from outside forces during this test. This is a contingency plan." ]

This was a new piece of information for him, so there was an utterly flabbergasted expression on his face right now.

[ "Why didn’t you tell me?! And how do you even know-" ]

[ "Demons. The demonic humans are on move as per Raz’s legit source." ]

He didn’t know about this since even I got to know about this earlier this morning when he was taking a shower all by himself.

’Bastard.’

Raz was in a hurry so he just gave me the news and vanished like he was on a sweet train to afterlife with a bunch of pretty kitties.

’But thanks to him, I knew there would be some problems during the exams.’

The others would have to be ready since we wouldn’t be with them during the exmas and they might even face a strong foe that they would have to face all by themselves.

’It was going to be tricky.’

But if they know they would have to use practical techniques, they would be ready for any kind of challenge they could think of as the protagonists.

This wasn’t an event we had anticipated since this was happening for the first time, and even though chances of demonic humans intervening with the academy’s test was low, it wasn’t impossible for a third party to intervene in the tests that weren’t being held in the academy itself.

Everyone was going to be vulnerable if the demonic humans with powerful demons backing them actually arrived for us.

’We might be fine, but there’s no guarantee all of us would survive and get out of there safely.’

But that only made this whole scenario more exciting~.

[ "You are a bad person, El. Perverse and sadistic as well." ]

[ "And you enjoy seeing me like this." ]

He was a bastard that couldn’t love any other living being aside from me.

’He would show them eternal and unconditional gratitude, like he does to his sole master, but love?’

He’s a broken toy that only runs with me, his only remaining key to his spring.

’I appreciate this fact more than even this life we have right now.’

But still.

Unexpected demonic humans?

’How fun would that be~?’
