Twin Reincarnation: Epics Of The Worldline-Chapter 325 Realisation and understanding
[Lucy’s POV: ]
’She’s an idiot.’
She had gotten stronger after levelling up several times in the dungeon and on top of that, she was now the owner of an epic.
And even though she wasn’t the only one that owned that epic, she was still one of the strongest people that were currently walking on this planet.
She was strong enough to defeat someone even hundreds of levels higher than her since her stats were greater than them and the quality of her stats were unfathomably higher than any unique being present in this world.
"Apologies, everyone. Looks like I made a little mess."
She was strong physically, but when it came to her Mana, she was beyond the bounds of this world already.
’After graining the epic, our physical and mental bodies had reached the final ’Abnormal’ stage and were now ready for the ascension process.’
Though, we still weren’t necessarily strong enough to pass through the process itself since having one eligibility and actually being able to do so were two completely separate things.
"Miss Uriel..."
"Those swords... how did you..."
"You cut the atmosphere itself, that much I can tell. But, doing so with only condensed Mana?
Just how much of your strength have you been hiding until now, Miss El?"
Her Mana quality had transcended this world’s bounds and could not genuinely rival that of the higher beings’ apostles, or dragons, or divine beasts.
She was not yet a higher being, but she possessed some qualities of those beings.
’Like this mana for example.’
It was far purer than the atmospheric mana and when she materialised it, it became dense enough to be an atmosphere cutting sword that can slide through even the very air around us.
"Ahem. How about we forget this and move on?"
There were actual atmospheric cracks in the air around her that looked like some white strokes done in a colourful canvas.
She was strong now, and if her sword had touched the ground or the area around them, I’m pretty sure something bad would have happened.
’Though, she wasn’t too dumb to not know it. So, she wouldn’t have let any of them get heavily injured.’
She wasn’t even trying to show off and was most probably only demonstrating what she wanted to tell them, but this happened, and now I don’t think they were going to forget this incident anytime soon.
Not at least unless there was something more serious to overwrite this memory.
"El? You can leave the weapon part to me, ok?"
"Sounds... good. Let’s do that."
We had not yet tested the increase in strengths and the new abilities we have unlocked from the epic’s effects.
There were also the new artefacts we got, of course the title effects as well, but, in addition to all that, we owned the silver ranked epic.
And currently, to our understanding, this one was the only silver ranked epic present in this world, which meant the rate of influence it will have on this world and the element of this world would be much greater than the other existing lower ranked epics.
"Everyone?"
-Oooooooooooooong.
Using my own Aura, the deep red power that they could see but not feel, I closed the cracks that she had created around us and smiled at them like nothing was happening, urging them to just let this one go with a bitter smile on my face.
"Shall we start?"
Strength was representative, power was influence, while the authority that we obtained through the epic as well as the titles and the Authorities was the true legitimate freedom from the bounds of the Worldline.
’They would get stronger as long as they continue what they are supposed to do, and act like their own selves.’
Stats were important, but ’good’ skills were just as important. And, along it them, the authorities, achievements, and experiences were what would set them apart from any kind of normal individual of this Worldline.
They were protagonists.
Her protagonists.
"Ahem. Yes, right. Let’s start. We were going to practice for the midterms, and there’s a lot to do..."
"Right. How should we start? The same thing Miss El was talking about?"
"Um, brother Lucy? Are you two hiding something from me? Is there something I should know about?"
There were many things we were hiding from her, many things that we had never told her, many things that she will be sad or angry about when she finds out we knew about already, and there are many things we aren’t going to tell even her.
Ever.
But she was still a friend that called me brother, so the little cutie deserved a honest answer.
Or at least a believable one.
"You shouldn’t know about the things that we want to tell you just yet, Nes. It’s not time yet, so let’s wait until that time comes, ok?
Ah, I promise you we didn’t do anything stupid recently. We didn’t even do anything that would put our lives at risk either so please don’t worry about it."
It was no use telling her to not worry since we knew already that she was going to worry about us anyway, but telling her not to was a kind of move that actually worked against this pure and good friend of ours.
"If... you say so. But! We will talk after the practice, ok?! Both of you!"
"Yup. No problem."
"Hehe, I’m always here if you wanna talk, Nessy~."
Her talk was mostly talk of a concerned friend that almost acts like the mother we never had.
’And she’s different from Miss Eva in this ’talk’ matter.’
Miss Eva never is harsh with either of us, she couldn’t be harsh with us even if she wanted to, that’s how the things are between us.
’She might have brought us up like a good caretaker would, but she herself had never considered herself as a mother figure to us.’
If anything, she considers us her protectors and saviours. The heros that would save this world from something, a family that she doesn’t want to ever part ways with since that’s the only thing she has left.
She depends on us, Nes does not.
Not that much, not like Miss Eva does.
But she certainly relies on El and cares about us more than she should.
Which isn’t very good.
"Alright. The theory’s practical tests.
It’s pretty easy if you don’t overthink it all too much.
Ah, there’s a very easy way to explain this thing."
El was a good teacher and she was definitely someone who could guide the ones around her; however, since her Mana had received such an upgrade, she should take it slowly from here.
"Lucifer?"
Ras was surprised when I brought out my Aura and created a perfect circle with a thread of it.
Then, with just the right concentration of strength, I pushed the ring away from us, towards a wall.
"What is Aura and what happens when aura is released instead of being attached to a weapon?"
That was the theoretical question that we had learned in depth and something everyone here knew very well about.
It was common knowledge that an intermediate weapon wielder that can handle Aura could only release the Aura if they reach the Advanced level.
But, what I did right now was not the same as releasing Aura.
"Aura is a turbulent power, a higher form of Mana that is made of constantly moving Mana strings that vibrate on higher frequencies.
They are a representation of a strong weapon welder’s consciousness, and are practically a part of their identity.
An intermediate weapon user could channel and materialise their Aura or wrap it around their weapons, but the only way they can release the aura is through giving it a temporary form."
Cathy knew this topic better than Ras since she had practically eaten the soul of the teacher that was teaching this topic.
’We all still remember how he had to go on a holiday for the next few days after that incident.’
She was no weapon expert herself but, she was the one that was taking the most theory classes among us, actually she was the only one that was practically taking all of the theory classes aside from the compulsory ones.
-Boooooooooooom!
"However, to give them a temporary form, one would have to first strengthen their Aura to a certain degree with atmosphere Mana and give it a form that their consciousness can work with freely."
It wasn’t like she didn’t like the practical classes or something. She was an excellent mage and healer, one can even call her an all rounder battle healer.
However, since the classes this year weren’t something that could match up to her level, she was taking it easy and focusing on fundamentals.
She didn’t really knew how she would be able to deal with the therory to practical transmission but, now that she looked at the ring of Aura gong towards a wall and slowly colldng wth the place better completely blasting away... she had realized what ths test might just be all about.
"Simply put, by training to materialise the Aura in the same way the mages do, one can a grasp the essence of the Aura release. Something that practically means low condensation of Aura."
"Right."
Thanks to Cathy’s simple explanation, the others now at least had an idea of what we were talking about here.
And, they also knew this wasn’t going to be that difficult.
"So, shall we start the training for real?"
Realising what the test might contain and understanding the meaning behind the concepts taught in the theory classes was all there was to the theory’s practical demonstration.
’If they asked us to explain how the Mana gate in a spell worked, we just had to show them how that spell was constructed. If they ask what there was to a movement technique, we just have to perform the movement technique that we know well and compare it with what was asked in the question.’
It’s a act that we would only know the answer to those questions if we knew the theory itself, but, just like Cathy, what We were learning in our classes most of the time was something that we already knew about, something that was below our own level.
’The questions for them And for us were going to be predetermined since everyone would have to attend them, but, since the practical test itself wasn’t going to be something so simple, they should just forget about having a simple written test as well.’
Not that it matters this time since all we are concerned about is theory’s application.
’But, since they now have good enough understanding of what they were going to go against, it wouldn’t be long before they realised worrying about this little thing was a waste of their precious time.’
They were good, they were smart, they were the protagonists.
Even though they knew the first spots were already reserved by us two, they were strong enough tonight for the remaining top positions on their own.
’And from how much I know that now, they were going to play a fun game to see who wins the higher spots.’
But, that will happen after they were done with this preparation training.
The tests weren’t that far away anymore anyway...
