[Lucy’s POV: ]

The midterms were the very first exams that would test the students individually for the first time after they enter the academy, the exam that would separate them into unique ranks and perhaps into different classrooms as well.

"Haaa... I prepared all I can and I’m still worried."

"Because of the pandemic, we didn’t even get to have a proper practice time. I’m worried as well."

Our good friends, especially my Nessy and Cathy were all worried and tensed of what they were going to do in this test, just like the rest of the common students present all around us.

"You two are going to do well, hehe. Don’t worry about it too much. Just look at the rest of these bastards. They aren’t worried even a little bit. Be like them."

"Yes, sure."

Cathy gave Rex a look of anger while she replied to El’s usual comment.

"Not all of us were noble enough to help out the ones that needed it."

The two of them, Cathy and Rex I mean, were having a cute little fight among themselves since the day before yesterday.

"I have said it a hundred and thirty two times already but I’ll repeat myself. It’s because of Miss Auriel. She banned me from coming anywhere near the clinic."

"And yet she would lie about doing anything like that, hun?"

"That’s right. I didn’t ban you or anything, ok? I just simply asked you to stay away from the clinic area so that everyone including Cathy could work at peace."

Their little fight was all her doing and everyone else knew that, except Cathy herself.

And since watching the two of them fight like that was cute, no one else except Nes told her about this.

’And Cathy knew Nes well, so she didn’t believe her absolutely pure words.’

She was still upset that he stayed away and did all kinds of ’practice’ and preparation while she was sweating in the clinic among the ill people...

’It wasn’t that she hated helping them, she actually loved it. She was even closer to a breakthrough now that she had experienced what it felt like to treat people that actually needed her help.’

Now she only needed a little push and she would awaken her Saintess powers, the power to influence the entire world without using any ’Plausibility’ or divine power.

’She would awaken her power to borrow divinity from the world itself as well and thanks to that, she will become someone that could actually help us during big battles.’

It won’t be long before everyone knows about her existence even if she tried hiding it away from all individuals of this world, and when the world knows about her, not even her own homeland will be able to help her in what follows.

’The appearance of a new power always brings trouble, especially when that power stands as a representative of this very world, and not just some certain god.’

The saints and saintesses weren’t an unfamiliar concept to this world since there have been a few cases in the world’s history when individuals that were chosen by the gods, or the nature to be more precise had appeared in the world to deal with the world level threats.

’Appearance of light is always followed by darkness. They both go hand in hand with one another.’

If a Saintess had appeared in their world, it would mean a darkness just as great had also appeared somewhere.

’Alas. No one would even suspect that darkness had been present among them for a few centuries now.’

Cathy will help ’us’ with a number of things. And she will have no choice but to do it if she wants to be with her future husband.

We had gathered in the summer garden and thankfully, it was early in the morning. Or else everyone else would be cursing the hot weather.

We had joined the rest of our friends in her a few times and she also never denied the fact that she had nothing to teach the two of us.

She was a gorgeous person and someone strict as well. And she possessed a unique ability to see the potential and current level of an individual that was different from any kind of appraisal skill.

’Just like El’s unique skill to see through any kind of object or Nes’ ability to know the true nature of an individual, she possessed the power to see a single quantified number of potential her targets had.’

She could see what level one is at and what level one can achieve if they worked the right way with the right kind of things, and this ability of hers had helped her in countless situations.

’She was the only one that had seen our potential or had reached the closest to knowing our current limitations.’

She was scared of us ever since she had seen what we were and though we don’t know what she had seen, she kept her distance from us.

’And we don’t mind that, actually.’

She doesn’t pay much attention to us and tries to avoid us if possible, which is pretty good and makes life in this place a little easier.

There, you will all be deployed in unique points and will first have to give your written tests in places similar to the ones you chose for the entrance exams.

The written tests would be based on all the subjects you have learned throughout the years and the answers will be judged by the teachers as well as the experts that they will have with them so you don’t have anything to worry about your marks.

Everything you read and attend will be reflected in the final results so be careful of what you are doing."

She was explaining the rules and regulations of this test and everyone was stunned at the moment.

’First it was a labyrinth and now it’s an isolated island that was supposed to be a safe place.’

They were a little confused by this new information, but the plague had surprised them more than enough for this little thing to sound that dramatic.

{ "After the written tests, you will have to wander around the island and find something that looks like this." }

She took out a piramidal object that seemed to be some kind of rock.

’It was the target of this test.’

Students had to collect these things but to collect them, not only one had to find these things in various places, they also had to solve many puzzles that would either lead them to these things or reward them with these.

{ "Every one of you will have to collect at least nine of them to get out of the island, and collecting more than nine would count as extra points that will be counted in the results." }

She was pretty much done with her explanation at that point the students also pretty much knew what they were going to deal with.

"They are saying we just have to find these things, right?"

"Is that true? Will it be that easy? But... I heard something about practical-."

"Shuuu! Hey! Be quiet!

Don’t talk about that! Remember what he said?! Just shut up!"

The rumours that there would be some kind of practical exams as well as rumours regarding how we would have practical tests that would require us to apply the knowledge we had only learned as theory had already spread all over the academy.

The many of the students from the higher classes already knew this information and some classes had even asked their teachers regarding this... but as it should be, their teachers neither agree nor denied their questions.

Unlike the class teacher of class A that had relatively lower restrictions than the rest of the teachers, they weren’t allowed to give them even a hint about the tests.

’Sir Villex was punished for sharing that information with us and his precious salary of this month must have been cut off.’

But he was getting something that outweighed the cost from El already so, he didn’t mind dancing in her palms.

She finished everything she wanted to say and everyone already knew about the leak in class A, so there wasn’t anything the teachers could do about a test that was already prepared.

This wasn’t something that they could change at the last moment so they had no choice but to proceed with what they have.

-Ooooooooooooooong.

"Good luck everyone. Make sure you watch out for ones in black hoods and strange masks. Kill them without hesitation if they have completely black eyes."

El gave them a heads up on a problem that they might face when they are on that island right when a white light covered all of us.

"Hmm? What do you mean, El?"

"Is there something we should-."

Ras and Nes asked her a question but there was no answer.

We had already vanished from the plaza and had teleported to a completely different place that, unlike our expectations, was nothing like what we understood as an Island.
