[El’s POV: ]

Many things happened after we were done with the exams and the teachers had arrived.

’We talked with the Vice headmaster and she thanked us for handling things despite having a tough test behind us, and it was pretty sincere thanks so, we accepted it... of course it was along with the presents that she promised.’

Then we went back to our friends, Cathy and Rex woke up soon and I scolded them, and then we all returned back to the academy in the grand airship that was so grand, so amazing and so mind blowing that the three wyvern airship that we had looked nothing compared to that thing.

’But not everyone found it as fun as we did.’

Some fainted right after seeing that thing and some of them couldn’t handle the way the creatures bound to it were looking at us.

’Others couldn’t understand that they were happy and smiling to see us students, but that wasn’t their fault.

Most of them were seeing a thunderbird or a griffin for the first time in their lives and a few others who had known about those creatures, it wasn’t easy for them to see all those creatures in the same place.

"So... does anyone know when those two are coming back?"

"Nope."

"No idea."

The trip back here wasn’t that fun since we weren’t allowed to come up to the deck and see all the real fun things but we couldn’t do anything about that.

’It was dangerous and all that, so... only Lucy and I were able to sneak up and have some fun with the teachers and the vice headmaster.’

It might have been more fun had we had the rest of them up there with us but, alas.

’Most of them fell asleep as soon as they got in the beds of their rooms.’

And then we came back, spent the night sleeping or thinking back on the tragedy that transpired there.

’They had gone through quite a lot... but after a good night alone, and after the last few hours of talk that we have had, they were getting themselves back together.’

It wasn’t easy for them to just forget all that happened there and it wasn’t easy for them to let go of the fact that it happened during the academy trial and in the special space governed by the academy.

’They now knew that anything was possible and that they should always be prepared for the worst possible scenario.’

This little test had taught them more than what they were supposed to learn and since this was a big incident, the academy gave us all a three day break.

’Classes would be after three days, but still... we were back at the academy and our favourite place in the spring garden, so school life had started for all of us once again.’

The official helpers would help out the teachers that were going to help out the students who were suffering from the trauma of the day and it might take a while before some of the students who had no one else to talk to like us recovers back to their former self.

’Not that it really matters that much to me.’

If they weren’t even strong enough to get over something so small like some bastards attacking them during their school trial, they aren’t even going to stand on their two feet during the real trials of the vast Worldline.

This much was practically nothing and if they really are that traumatised after this much, I don’t even want to tell them what the two of us went through in those three damned tests we gave...

"Ummm, so, does anyone know why he led her somewhere else?"

We came back yesterday, and right now, we were sitting in the place where we usually have dinner to talk things out.

"Could it be... are they going to confess or something?"

Our talk went well... it was a fucking six hour long talk so of course it went well. And after they all got themselves together, Rex asked Cathy to come with him to somewhere else since he wanted to talk about something private.

"Yeah... no. It would be nice if they do confess, but I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon. These two will get married before those two start dating."

Leon and Lily were closer than ever now... they should get engaged somewhere within this week from what I can tell, so that was a good sign as well.

’And from how she was sitting on his lap and they were whispering to each other secretly, it was obvious what was going on between them.’

She protected him when they were on the island, and that brought them closer than they already were.

Now, all that was left between them was two rings, a meeting with their parents, and a marriage ceremony.

’I’m pretty sure they will have children by the time we finish this academic life.’

We will be looking forward to that, but that isn’t important right now.

"Lucy, go see what they are doing. It’s been ten minutes already."

"Do I have to?"

"Of course you do! Go and get them at least! Tell’em my name if you want!"

It was afternoon and it was lunchtime already.

They had to tell him what they wanted so that he could start preparing for lunch already since getting hungry after all that talking and stuff.

I wanted to finish this thing as well so that we can go back and meet that bastard headmaster for the rewards.

And these bastards needed rest as well...

"Haaa. I always have to do the hard work." He complied with a deep sigh but without causing any more problems, he just got up and started walking towards the direction where they had gone... but he stopped only after walking three steps, turned around, and sat back down in his place.

"They’re back."

Cathy had awakened as a Saintess and I know she doesn’t understand what that means at all... and the academy will do whatever they can to keep this fact hidden.

’So it will be up to me to teach her everything about her new powers like I’m doing with Lily.’

Rex that bastard also went past his limitations and earned some kind of title and rewards for it, so Lucy will have to teach him how to control the new powers that he had unlocked.

We have just come back from that shit place, and aside from all the work we have to do with the empire and things... We also have these things to work on.

"I apologise for that."

The two of them were finally back from their personal meeting and since Cathy had that bitter smile on her face, I know damn well how that bastard Rex must have asked her to keep some distance between them.

"Took you long enough, hun mister coward." I couldn’t help criticise him since I knew his nature so damn well.

He was falling... he knew their friendship wasn’t just friendship anymore.

It was something more than that, and he never knew he was capable of something like a true friendship, much less a relationship.

He was driven by revenge, and he hated the fact that he would have thoughts of romance with a subordinate nation’s only princess.

’Their friendship was a good thing for their nations but, it was a different matter if that relationship had progressed anywhere towards romance.’

Then the emperor would try to take over the elvan kingdom and in the process, a war would start inevitably.

And if not that, the elves would oppose their relationship and they would have to stay away from one another.

"I... apologies."

They sat down, this time, not with one another like they were when we started this whole talk but separately.

She had that bitter expression, while he had that painful look in his eyes that even the others could tell was eating away at him.

’But still he was a coward.’

So what if there would be problems between their nations? So what if there might be a war and so what if there was a chance of them getting separated?

If they liked one another, what reason did they have to not even give their friendship a chance?

’They knew they were a good pair and staying with one another for the last few months had only brought them closer.’

He knew he liked her, and he knew she liked him as well. But, even though she knew all that he knew as well, she wasn’t the one pushing him away.

’He was pushing her away, along with their relationship, and that fun friendship they had.’

She knew why he was doing it, and also the fact that they could have never been together...

The emperor was still an ambitious person that knew how to play politics as well as he knew how to fight with sword and magic.

What he lacked was a way to go up against the grand mage of the elves, Cathy’s grandmother.

"Alright then... let’s talk about what we shall have for lunch. What do you want, Cathy?"

She was spacing out, and I know damn well she is going to cry as soon as she goes back to her room.

All because of this coward bastard that didn’t want to risk everything for the person he loved.

Bastard.

"Ah... I... I’ll have the usual."

She wasn’t fine with this.

She knew well why he was doing it and also the fact that the reason he was doing it was also because of his own feelings towards her.

"No. You should have something special today. Lucy. Make something special for her today."

"Sure thing."

She needed someone to be with her right now... and, since I wanted her children to call me their big sister, or aunt, I had to do this.

...well, since all of us are free anyway, we might as well do it together.
