Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!-Chapter 323: Tit for Tat
Desmond Fairchild was baffled, was Seraphina Sinclair really this oblivious? Even a fool could see Keith Hughes had feelings for her, did she truly not understand?
Speaking about his fiancée, Keith showed a hint of melancholy: "This fiancée was arranged by my family; I’m not interested in her at all."
"Oh, if you don’t like her, it might be better to make things clear as soon as possible," Seraphina empathized. Marriages for people like them were rarely within their own control.
Family elders always put the business first, and in their circle, commercial marriages were all too common.
Or, one could say, the chance for a free love was virtually nonexistent.
To put it bluntly, Ethan Lloyd was probably with him initially due to family needs.
If, at that time, the Lloyd Family had been stronger than the Sinclair Family, perhaps it could have avoided this tragedy.
"Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing." While talking to Seraphina, Keith couldn’t help but glance at Desmond.
The look in his eyes was provoking, as if saying: go ahead and use any trick you have, I’m not afraid.
Typically, Desmond wouldn’t respond to such provocation, but the current situation was extraordinary, and in front of Seraphina, he couldn’t afford to lose.
"As far as I know, your fiancée really cares about you. She’s often asking around about your news. If your actions affect Seraphina’s safety, do you think that’s appropriate?" Desmond’s expression remained unchanged, but his words were sharp and harsh.
Seraphina, confused, asked, "What does their matter have to do with my safety?"
"Young Master Hughes’ fiancée is famously arrogant and jealous. Do you think she won’t be angry if she knows her fiancé ignores her but spends every day with another woman?"
Desmond rarely spoke such lengthy sentences, yet for Seraphina today, he was willing to go this far, arguing back and forth with Keith.
He felt it was embarrassing to even talk about it.
Seraphina understood this well. Even during their relationship, it was rare for her and Desmond to talk like this.
Because Desmond was naturally not a man of many words.
"I’ll handle my fiancée myself, but can President Fairchild handle his girlfriend?" Keith sighed, "Your girlfriend hasn’t been lenient with Seraphina; you’d better keep her in check."
After all, their current relationship was ambiguous, one having a girlfriend and another a fiancée, yet coming to him to court her.
As the argument heated up, Seraphina sighed, "If you’re here to argue, I suggest you do it outside. Even if you don’t consider me as the patient here, think about the noise disturbing others."
Saying this, she pointed at Desmond, "You, get out, I don’t want to see you anymore."
Zoe Lloyd wanted to gloat, but before she could sneer at Clay, she heard Seraphina’s voice: "Senior, I don’t need anyone to take care of me. If you’re tired, you should go rest."
Now it was Desmond’s turn to gloat, silently mocking with his eyes: I thought you were so capable, but you’re just the same to Seraphina.
Keith responded with a look: The outcome is yet to be determined, President Fairchild, don’t be too confident.
Seeing the two still in a silent standoff, Seraphina frowned even more, "Why haven’t you left yet? Are you waiting for me to see you out?"
Keith quickly shook his head, "No need, have a good rest, Junior, I’ll take my leave now."
"And you? Should I see you out?" Seraphina impatiently looked at Desmond.
Desmond’s expression turned slightly cold as he replied plainly, "No need."
Both of them left the ward, each finding the other displeasing outside.
Keith, no longer the pitiful persona in front of Seraphina, displayed clear confidence in his eyes, seemingly undaunted by Desmond.
Desmond had to admire Keith’s acting skills, truly feigning innocence like a pro.
Previously, he thought not even "white lotus" could deride you, but now he’s learned even men like that exist.
"Do you think if Seraphina saw your true colors, she’d still associate with you?" Desmond disliked dealing with Keith, and such people only disgusted him.
"That’s my concern, not yours," Keith replied smugly, "Even if I’m not in the picture, President Fairchild, do you think you can win Seraphina back?"
Desmond’s eyes flickered with disdain, his tone confident: "Whether you’re here or not, she’s the one I must have."
"Mr. Hughes will wait and see then." Keith chuckled lightly, evidently doubting Desmond’s words.
From what he knew about Seraphina, Desmond’s past actions were like daggers in her memory.
Seraphina would never turn back.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have given Desmond the cold shoulder for so long.
"Even if not me, it won’t be you. I’d advise Young Master Hughes to stay humble." Desmond remained stoic, unbothered by Keith’s ridicule.
After they parted, Desmond returned to Cloudsea Group directly.
Thinking about what Keith had said, Desmond’s brow furrowed, surrounded by coldness and agitation.
Quentin Jennings initially intended to ask what happened, but seeing him like this, he understood clearly.
This was obviously a humiliation, otherwise, he wouldn’t be this furious.
After mentally preparing himself, Quentin knocked at the door, "Master Fairchild, there’s progress with the Diamond Island situation, is now a good time to report?"
"Get lost!"
Accompanied by a roar of anger, Quentin caught the folder thrown his way, visibly terrified.
"Yes, I’ll leave immediately!" Clearly, Master Fairchild was in a foul mood today, untouchable.
He couldn’t help but wonder, what did Seraphina do to upset him so? Desmond Fairchild wasn’t one to anger easily, the calmer he was when he wanted to kill, the more inexplicably angry he was now.
Quentin thought so, hence he returned two hours later with another report.
Yet he was still greeted by a flying folder and Desmond’s furious command to "get lost".
Baffled, he had no choice but to call Seraphina for advice.
Seraphina casually explained and then asked Quentin, "Do you think they’re crazy? Do they have some private grudge? Why do they pick a fight every time they meet, especially Desmond, it’s bizarre. The senior didn’t provoke him, yet he starts with a malicious voice, no idea what he’s up to."
"Sis, don’t you understand why they don’t get along?" Quentin nearly rolled his eyes to the sky, Seraphina couldn’t be that naive, right? Anyone could see Keith liked her!
