Unexpected Marriage With Mr. Leighton: Rebirth of the Villain-Chapter 109: THE TENSION AT THE DINNER TABLE
Chapter 109: THE TENSION AT THE DINNER TABLE
"Yes, but I am sorry, Hazel. We just talked and got lost in time, reminiscing about the past."
There was a long silence after that. Ema thought Hazel finally got it, but the truth was: Hazel muted the phone because she was squabbling with Laurel about the cake.
This woman was out of her right mind; she was miserable, and that’s why she wanted to make all of the people around her miserable too.
"Hello." Ema frowned because the silence was too long, and this confused her as well. "Are you there?"
Only then did Hazel pick up her phone again. "Yes, I am here. So, has he finished taking a bath? Tell him to come here right away."
Ema gripped the phone tightly, and she looked like she was going to explode. "Of course, I will tell him right away. He is washing his hair."
And there was another silence, but then Hazel spoke with this monotonous voice. "Are you watching him wash his hair?"
Ema’s eyes lit up. "Yes. Oh, I am sorry. It just happened. The bathroom door is open."
"Oh, my bad for not getting it immediately; are you insinuating that you have just had sex with him?"
That’s what Ema meant, but she didn’t expect Hazel would talk about it very bluntly. If she put it this way, it only made her feel awkward.
"Did you?" Hazel was waiting for the answer.
"Oh, I don’t know what to say about this. I am sorry."
"No, you don’t need to be sorry." There was an amused smile that curled on Hazel’s lips, but Ema couldn’t see it. "I asked. Did you do it with him?"
"It was a mistake," Ema said. She sounded regretful, but there was this smile on her face. She looked like she was going to celebrate something.
"A mistake. Oh, so you did that with him?" Hazel wanted to make it clear, yet Ema felt uncomfortable with the way Hazel approached this conversation.
Ema was not a malicious person, and she did this out of impulse. She didn’t expect Hazel to be so blatant and calm like this.
"I don’t know that Ranon has a fetish to sleep with his mother. Did he wrap himself?" Hazel sounded concerned, and Ema was confused.
She couldn’t understand why this was the question that Hazel asked her. She didn’t sound panicked; she wasn’t even upset because she knew Ranon was sleeping with her, even though that was not the truth.
"Because if you get pregnant, the family tree will be confusing. You will not look good on the family tree, you know? It will look ridiculous to put you there." Hazel grinned from ear to ear, finding something better to do than to argue with Laurel. "I will need to put more effort into explaining it to my child too."
Ema was livid with the insinuation that Hazel said; she bit her tongue to prevent herself from lashing out.
It felt like Hazel was taunting her. She didn’t take it seriously.
Ema tried to calm herself down, but it was hard to do that when this woman knew how to hit your nerve with just a sentence.
"Ranon likes doing it from behind. I think he has a thing for backs. You know, the last time we did it in the changing room, he was so fascinated with my bare back that he was turned on when I undressed in front of him. He kissed my..."
"Fuck you!" Ema was furious. "Fuck you, Hazel!" She was enraged; she couldn’t hold it back.
Ranon messed up with her mind and her heart, and this woman only made it worse.
"What is it? Ranon didn’t do that with you?" Hazel’s voice sounded light. "Or, are you sure it was him and you have not mistaken him for his father?"
And with that, Ema cut the phone call. She hurled the phone against the wall, and it shattered into pieces on the floor.
After that, she left the mess behind. She knew she would get into big trouble with Denzel after this, but right now, when the anger wrapped around her mind and ran in her veins, she couldn’t care less about what Denzel was going to do to her.
She was indignant.
There was nothing she could do to make herself feel a little bit better. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
On the other hand, Hazel laughed her head off. She doubled down, and her outburst made Laurel stop complaining to a wedding organizer.
"What is it? Are you finally losing your marble?" Laurel frowned at Hazel.

Laurel arrived at home close to dinner time. She was done ’helping’ with Hazel’s wedding preparation and left because Ranon had come.
When she entered her house, she realized Carl and James had returned. Both of them were at home, and they were having dinner together.
Laurel walked past them and only spared them a glance. She saw the set-up on the table, and there was one for her.
But this time, Laurel didn’t stop; instead, she went to her bedroom directly. She decided to move to the other bedroom because right now she couldn’t stand being near James after he gave her the silent treatment for days.
That was too much.
Both of them ignored her completely.
And the last two days felt like hell for her.
Only today did Laurel stop bombarding them with calls and messages. And it seemed that her silence was way more effective to get their response.
"Where are you going?" James asked when Laurel was about to go upstairs. "Come here and have dinner."
James sounded strangely stern. It almost felt like he didn’t want to be overly gentle, but at the same time, he didn’t want to be rude as well.
The way he talked was very formal.
However, Laurel didn’t hear him and continued to walk upstairs.
"Laurel, what are you doing? Come here."
She still didn’t listen to him. Her steps felt lighter, and so did her heart.
Meanwhile, Carl stared at his plate. He didn’t lift his head at all, but when Laurel’s figure disappeared, he finally tilted his head and saw her shadow.
This guilty feeling hit him so hard that he didn’t feel well. "Is Mother all right?" Carl asked his father.
"She will be fine. She’s only sulking. It’s okay."
Shifting his attention towards his father, Carl asked in a small voice. "What are you going to do? Are you really going to divorce Mother?"
That question was hard to answer. James said nothing. "Finish your food," he said, and Carl stared at his father for a little bit longer.
James didn’t look like someone who was going to divorce his wife. If that were the case, he wouldn’t care enough about her.
But it seems Laurel’s silence bothered him as much as it bothered Carl.
On the other hand, the Starling family was not the only family that had an awkward dinner. Because right at this moment, the Rose family was going through the same tension.
The four members of the family were sitting together at the dining table, eating their dinner in silence, which made Hazel uncomfortable.
She hated this situation.
Hazel didn’t know what possessed Greyson to call them all to have dinner together. Currently, she focused on eating her food quickly so she could leave.
Unfortunately for Hazel, before she could escape the suffocating awkwardness, Greyson put down his cutleries and looked at her the same moment Hazel was done and was about to bolt out of the dining room.
Greyson broke the silence.
"There is something I want to talk about with you, Hazel," he said in his deep voice, which let her know that this was something important he wanted to tell her.
It was not good, because Hazel was not in the mood to listen to whatever he wanted to say to her. "I am tired. Can’t we talk about this tomorrow morning?"
Greyson was not happy to hear that, and Dylan glared at his sister. Hazel became more and more unruly as time went by; she became someone else that he didn’t recognize.
"What is it? What do you want?" Having left with no other choice, Hazel sat down again.
"I want you to wear your mother’s wedding dress."
"I don’t want to wear it." Hazel seemed to be able to guess what her father wanted to say. "No. I don’t want to wear it. I have made it very clear since the very beginning."
The problem here was Greyson didn’t want to listen, and it seemed he still had not yet learned about how to ask a favor from someone else.
Instead of asking Hazel to consider her decision, he actually demanded it from her.
"No, I will not wear it," Hazel enunciated every word.
Hearing that, Greyson tried to calm himself down, and Dylan hated to see how rebellious Hazel had become. "You don’t have any right to refuse what Father told you to do!"
Hazel raised her brows upon hearing such a stupid statement.
"Of course I do. Why do you think I can’t refuse that?" Hazel was not happy at all, nor was Dylan.
Meanwhile, Logan was sitting in his seat, looking back and forth between his older brother, his sister, and their father.
He seemed to enjoy this drama as he put more meat into his plate, enjoying this ruckus. He lived for this. His sister became more and more interesting. No wonder Ranon wanted to know more about her.
Logan decided not to say anything about him being ’kidnapped’ that night. He wanted to know what the cause of Hazel’s change was.
