Chapter 18: GOING TO THE HOSPITAL

"What?!" Logan couldn’t believe what he heard, especially when he saw how calm Hazel was. "Did he... Did he succeed? I meant... did you... sleep with him?"

Hazel didn’t answer him; she simply crossed her arms and raised her brows.

"No way... How could you be so calm?" Logan looked shocked, but then he became angry. "You are lying, right?!"

"Scram."

Hazel shoved Logan away before he could respond and then immediately closed the door behind her. This was not the first time Hazel slammed the door in his face and wouldn’t be the last if he didn’t leave her alone.

"Hey! Open the door! We need to talk!" He rapped his knuckles against the door, but Hazel ignored him completely. She was busy.

Right now, she was preparing a warm bath for herself, and ten minutes later, she was enjoying her relax time, dipping herself inside the bathtub, and feeling her muscles relax. She played music to drown away Logan’s voice.

After a while, Logan finally got the clue and left her alone, while Hazel fell asleep.

She dreamed about that fateful night, her last night as River. The shot on her shoulder, the cold night wind, and the cold water down the bridge.

When she woke up, the water in the bathtub had turned cold and her skin wrinkled. She immediately got up and dried herself; she watched as the water swirled when she unplugged the stopper. She stared at it mindlessly before she walked out of the bathroom and fell asleep only in her towel.

She used to sleep like this before.

Every time she finished her mission and was too exhausted to even put a shirt on after cleaning herself, she would fall asleep only in her towel with her hair still wet.

The next morning, she woke up with a bang on the door.

"Huh?" Hazel squinted her eyes and groaned when the sunlight fell on her face; she curled herself again and covered her ears, but it didn’t help to block the noise. "What the hell?" she grumbled sleepily.

"Hazel! Open the door!" Greyson banged his fist furiously.

In the end, Hazel had no other choice but to get up. She stretched her body lazily, scratched her neck, and answered him. "Coming!"

Yet, she felt something was not right, and when she looked down, only then did she realize that she was still naked.

"Oops. Greyson Rose will have a heart attack." She scratched her head. "I can’t kill him so soon. Too early to kill someone."

Hazel slipped into the nightgown that she took from the closet and then went to open the door. Her long, curly, brown hair was a tangle mess, which shocked Greyson. He thought it was someone else, since he had never seen his daughter appear improperly.

"What the hell is wrong with you?! Are you losing your mind?!"

"I am losing sleep, actually." Hazel yawned and rubbed her sleepy eyes. She was dreaming about that night on the bridge, even after she went to bed and felt like she was being killed all over again.

"Dress properly and come with me!" Greyson was fuming.

"Why is he so angry? It’s still so early..." Hazel grumbled; she closed the door and went to take a bath. She needed to freshen up.

And, because she didn’t have any idea how to take care of her long, curly hair, it took her a little bit longer for Greyson’s liking for her to finally show up.

Both Greyson and Dylan were in the foyer when Hazel approached them. The first thing she noticed was Dylan’s split lips and the anger in his eyes, but she met his glare head-on.

"Sit in the front seat," Greyson commanded Hazel tersely. He looked livid.

Hazel furrowed her brows. But then, she got inside without a word. After she closed the door, Dylan followed; he sat in the backseat, right behind her, while their father was talking on the phone.

"Why are you glaring at me?" Hazel was rather startled when she intended to sneak a peek at Dylan through the rearview mirror, but he actually was already glaring at her, thus their eyes met there.

"You need to be straightened out."

"Oh, please..." Hazel rolled her eyes, knowing fully well it would aggravate him. "Said someone who has a ridiculous bandage on his head."

Hazel knew murderous intention; she was used to it, and right now, there was one right behind her seat. If it was in her line of business, she would have been strangled to death from behind.

However, Hazel was fully aware that Dylan wouldn’t do that.

"What happened with your lips?" Hazel chuckled. "Father straightened you out?" The fact that Greyson hit his oldest son let her know that he was not happy with what Dylan had done to her.

Her best guess was that someone who cared so much about his reputation and image in public to have his daughter sleep with a stranger, even though it was Ranon Leighton, was a blasphemy.

"Shut your mouth!" Dylan hissed viciously, and the driver looked so uncomfortable with the tension inside the car. His anger sucked out the air, suffocating the poor driver.

Thankfully, Greyson finished with his phone call and immediately entered the car. He sat next to his son. His face looked dark and gloomy.

"Go," he commanded curtly.

The driver was an old man who had been with the family for decades, and he knew the situation inside this family and how bad Greyson Rose’s temper was; thus, he didn’t delay and hit the accelerator.

"Where are we going?" Hazel asked the driver after some time in silence. None of them talked, and she was tempted to turn on music, but she thought they wouldn’t appreciate it.

"To the hospital, Miss," the driver replied.

"Hospital?" Hazel glanced at the rearview mirror. Both Greyson and Dylan looked perfectly healthy. Very much alive for her liking. "What? Does Dylan need someone to accompany him to change his bandage?"
