Chapter 73: THE WEDDING DRESS

Aubrey didn’t know where Arlo had gone. After he stormed out of the room and threatened Michael, he kicked him out of the house and told him to never come back. He shouldn’t have bothered with his business anymore. freewebnσvel.cøm

And now, Arlo locked himself somewhere else inside this house, while Aubrey didn’t have the energy to find him.

She knelt down and started to cry as the realization hit her hard. She cried until she couldn’t anymore, and then when she stood up and looked at her own reflection in the mirror, she saw an ugly woman staring back at her.

"Arrghh!!!" Aubrey lost it. She started to punch the mirror with her bare hand.

Adrenaline rushed in her veins, and she could no longer feel the pain. She screamed and punched and screamed and punched again. She cried even harder. She yelled at her own reflection.

"Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! You know that you are better than her! You know that you have gotten what she had! But why are you being like this right now?! What is wrong with you?! What the hell is wrong with you?! Why are you being like this?! Why can’t you beat her up!? Why do you have to come back and ruin my life again!?"

Aubrey hated River more than anyone knew.

Ever since they were in school, people had always looked at her stepsister; though Aubrey was prettier than River, somehow whenever they compared her with her stepsister, they would always praise River.

There was something about her that could charm people around her, which was something that Aubrey didn’t have.

River would make friends easily if she wanted to, yet the path that she chose for her life did not allow her to be the center of attention.

That was why Aubrey used that opportunity to stand out more. Yet, right now, even though she was pregnant with Arlo’s baby and she got her fiancé, the fact that Arlo’s heart was still for River only upset her greatly.

She could only have that man’s body and his child, since River was barren, but Arlo would always love River, and for that, Aubrey was very certain.

If only River was not barren, Aubrey wouldn’t have stood a chance to even make Arlo look in her direction; that man was very loyal to River.

It took everything in her and this pregnancy to make him want her.

When Aubrey was screaming at the top of her lungs, suddenly Arlo appeared behind her and hugged her tightly.

"What the hell are you doing?! What do you think you are doing?!" Arlo asked furiously.

Aubrey was covered in blood now, yet that woman was still so crazy. She didn’t want to hear whatever Arlo wanted to say.

She wanted to scream in his face so he could feel the pain that she was feeling right now.

A sharp shard of mirror was still in her hand as she swung her arms wildly. Thankfully, Arlo was agile enough to parry the attack and grab both Aubrey’s hands. As he dragged her out of the room, he managed to twist her wrist, snatch the sharp shard from her, and throw it away.

"Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!" Arlo said angrily. He shook her body violently, which made Aubrey startled for a moment; she simply stared at Arlo blankly before she cried so hard.

She threw herself towards him and hugged Arlo tightly.

"Don’t leave me. Don’t leave me. I know that you know River is still alive. But don’t leave me. I only have you. We have this child. We can have this family together." Aubrey shook her head. "River will not forgive you for what you have done. Your only chance to be happy is with me." She lifted her head and grabbed his hand as she placed it on top of her stomach. "There is a baby between us. You need to reconsider whatever you are going to do. Please think about me; think about us. Think about the baby in my womb. You can’t do this to me."

Arlo didn’t know what to do. He simply stood there, staring at Aubrey. But then, slowly, he raised his arms and hugged her.

Somehow, he didn’t offer comforting words, only a pat on Aubrey’s back, but it was enough to calm her down slightly.

Arlo was not sure what to do or how to feel about the whole situation. She was the mother of his child, but for the first time in his life, he didn’t care about being a father.

It was something that Arlo had never told anyone out loud, but he always really wanted to be a father, to have his own child. His own flesh and blood.

That was why, when he learned that River was barren, it hit him harder than it hit River. At that time, he offered comforting words, promising her forever; yet all of those words were lies; he really wanted to be a father.

No one would ever know about his deepest desire.

Yet, he reconsidered it now...

There was a moment when he was thinking of being with River, growing old with her, even without a child of their own.

After all, she was his first love, and he still loved her until now...

"I am tired," Hazel complained when Jacob still didn’t want to let her go.

He actually took the task seriously.

Jacob couldn’t decide because, in his opinion, everything was great on Hazel. She had a proportional body with curves in the right places, and because she ate so much during the pregnancy, she gained the right weight now.

And even though Hazel was three months pregnant, she actually had not yet shown. That was why even Jacob couldn’t tell that she was actually pregnant.

Therefore, he asked Hazel to stand up for a long time, which upset her. She felt her legs were killing her. She wanted to sit, but with the dress that she was wearing, it would be difficult for her to sit down, especially when Jacob had put a few additional ornaments on the dress so he could find the right model for her.

This was going to be a huge wedding that people would talk about for days.

The media was very shocked when they learned that Ranon Leighton would actually marry Hazel Rose, since their relationship was pretty new.

People believed that Ranon and Hazel had been dating for more than a year; that was why it was understandable if they were going to marry now. Even though some of the people thought it was too quick, and some of them thought this was a business wedding where the two families would benefit from it.

But none of them knew the truth that Ranon and Hazel had just had their relationship for the last month.

"I am tired, I am tired, I am done. I don’t want to stand. I want to sit down. My legs are killing me." Hazel was upset as she walked towards Ranon when Jacob wanted her to stay for a few more minutes.

Hazel called for Ranon to get rid of this man from her back, but he was only sitting there patiently, crossing his arms and legs, slouching on the couch, as if he was in the cinema and was watching something boring.

"I am fine with this dress. This is beautiful already. What are you going to do with it anymore?"

Jacob stared at Hazel as if she had said something very offensive. His jaw dropped as he shook his head.

"You don’t understand fashion. I couldn’t believe it. As someone who wanted to have a grand wedding, you only asked too little. Are you sure this is the only thing that you wanted?"

"Yes, I am sure, so stop poking me with your needles and with these ornaments. I want to get out of this dress."

And while the two of them were bickering, suddenly Ranon stood up; he waved his hand to Jacob. "You can leave now." Ranon looked at Jacob and gestured for him to leave the room.

At first, Jacob wanted to complain, but then he could only bite his tongue and then walked away from the changing room.

This changing room was very big, with a few pieces of furniture there. It looked so cozy that if Jacob put a bed there, Hazel would believe that this room was actually one of the bedrooms in this house.

And once Jacob walked out of the room, leaving the two of them there alone, Hazel immediately turned her body to face Ranon.

"Can you help me, please, with this dress? This is killing me. I can’t breathe. Have you forgotten that I am pregnant? Why only now did you shoo him away?" Hazel complained again.

And like usual, Ranon didn’t say anything. He simply turned her body around so her back was facing him; then he helped her get out of that dress.

He pulled the zipper down, and Hazel’s beautiful back fell into his sight, and for a moment, Ranon was lost in the beauty of what he was seeing right now.

"What are you doing? Help me get out of this dress, or else I might snap. I cannot imagine I have to stand inside this dress for more than an hour." And then she felt his fingers caress her back. "Ranon?"

Hazel turned her head to look at what he was doing when she felt his lips on her nape.

What the fuck?!

Her body was stiffened.
