Unexpected Marriage With Mr. Leighton: Rebirth of the Villain-Chapter 83: DECEITFUL MAN
Chapter 83: DECEITFUL MAN
"She is sleeping," Ranon stated. He then approached Hazel and checked on her. She was indeed sleeping.
Recently he also noticed how she fell asleep very easily and often. From what he read, it was because of her pregnancy. Some women would have this symptom when they reached the second trimester, and currently Hazel was so close to it.
"Why do you let her sleep on the sofa?" Ranon asked Laurel. He turned his head and looked at his half-sister. The way he stared at her let Laurel know that he was not happy with the situation. "You are completely aware that she is pregnant, right?"
And right now, his anger had been washed away; it was replaced by his annoyance towards Laurel.
Of course, Laurel wouldn’t take it lightly. It was not her fault for Hazel to sleep on the sofa. "She was not sleeping when I left her here, and I was here with her waiting for you." She felt wronged. "I only left for a few minutes, and she has already fallen asleep. I don’t think she is asleep at all. Wake her up. I think she is only faking it."
Laurel was understandably furious because she had to be blamed for that; yet, Ranon didn’t care how she explained herself.
"Wake her up; I am sure she is not sleeping."
"Be quiet." Ranon’s voice was filled with authority, which made Laurel shut her mouth almost immediately.
She hated it. This half-brother of hers really knew how to handle people, and as much as she didn’t want to admit it, she was scared of him whenever he got serious like this. She could see it in his eyes right now.
He cared about this woman. At least he cared about her because she was pregnant with his baby. That was a justification that Laurel thought to herself.
"I don’t think she’s sleeping," Laurel muttered under her breath. She was still not happy with how things turned out.
However, Ranon ignored her, and instead, he carried Hazel carefully to the car, worried she would wake up.
Seeing this sight, Laurel pressed her lips. She was still not convinced that this marriage was a solution. "Ranon, are you serious with her?"
Ranon didn’t stop walking away; he ignored the question since that was a moot point. By this time, the wedding was only a few days away, and Hazel was pregnant. There was no going back.
More so, both of them had their own agreement that no one knew about.
"Ranon." Laurel approached Ranon, but when he glanced at her over his shoulder, it stopped her. The cold gaze in his eyes was scary.
Laurel watched Ranon disappear when he turned at the corner with Hazel in his arms.
For a long moment, Laurel stared at the distance. There were a lot of things that were running in her mind. Only when her head hurt did she turn around and walk towards Carl’s bedroom.
She needed to know what happened to him. He had been acting really concerning recently.
On the other hand, Ranon put Hazel inside the car. He buckled her up and then walked around the car to sit behind the wheel.
However, instead of leaving immediately, he stared at Hazel’s sleeping face, and then he spoke in a rigid tone.
"Wake up, I know you are not sleeping," Ranon said. He waited for a while, but it was either Hazel was indeed sleeping, or she was too stubborn to admit that she had been lying.
There was no movement from her.
"Wake up, or I will not go from here. There is something I need to talk with you about."
Hearing that, Hazel suddenly yawned; she stretched her body and then looked around her as if she had just woken up from a deep sleep and was surprised to see Ranon was there.
"Oh, you are here; I have been waiting for you," she said with a sleepy tone, which sounded very fake.
Ranon didn’t know whether he had to laugh or be angry with this woman. At this point, he already learned that she could be very manipulative. She didn’t even shy away when she was being pretentious.
Cookie points here, at the very least, she was very constant with her acting.
"Why are you pretending to be asleep?"
"What do you mean I was pretending? I heard your voice; that’s why I woke up."
Ranon stared at her. He said nothing, but Hazel could feel the tension. It almost felt like she was a subordinate that was being stared down by her superior because she made some mistakes that she had to admit.
"Well, I was sleeping, but then I woke up when you carried me. I am very tired; that’s why I continued to sleep. I didn’t lie to you. I was really asleep when you came."
Hazel raised her hand to make a swear sign, indicating that she told him the truth. She indeed fell asleep when she was waiting for Ranon, but then she was woken up when she heard his voice.
Honestly, she didn’t want to deal with the situation, nor did she want to face his anger in front of Laurel; thus, the best thing that she could do was to pretend to be asleep.
"Do you want to get Laurel in trouble?" Ranon asked.
Hazel shrugged her shoulders. "Well, that’s not my intention, but I don’t have the energy to pretend I like her."
Ranon knew that; he then drove the car out of the residence. "Don’t cause trouble. You ran away from Nolu and Yara; what are you going to say for yourself now?"
"Oops, sorry." Hazel grinned at him. "But if you knew that I was lying, why are you playing along with me?" Hazel looked at him mischievously. She waited for his answer, but instead she had a question. "You only wanted to use me as an excuse to scold her too, right?" Hazel chuckled.
She knew she was right.
This man was very deceitful too.
