Unexpected Marriage With Mr. Leighton: Rebirth of the Villain-Chapter 85: SHE WAS BEING PRETENTIOUS
Chapter 85: SHE WAS BEING PRETENTIOUS
Hazel noticed the printed blanket and smiled to herself. She covered her body with it while the rain kept pouring down out there. The sound of it and the sad song that played in the background lulled her to sleep.
It was very peaceful.
Hazel liked rain; she liked rainy days. It calmed her down because whenever she had a mission in this weather, she would be able to conceal the noises that she created. The rain would shield her from her target and make things easier for her.
When Ranon heard Hazel stop singing lightly, he slowed down the car; moreover, it would be dangerous if he were speeding off.
That was why when they finally arrived at the Rose’s house, it took them three hours; and by that time Hazel actually had fallen asleep, and Ranon had to carry her to her bedroom.
However, halfway to the second floor, Ranon noticed. "You are awake. You don’t need to pretend that you are sleeping."
Ranon was carrying Hazel to her bedroom, and he could see, even though it was very subtle, that the corner of Hazel’s lips twitched.
"Your trick is getting old." Ranon pinched her butt.
It was possible to do that when he carried her like this, and with that, Hazel opened her eyes. She glared at him, yet she didn’t have any intention to get down.
"I am tired; I don’t really want to walk," Hazel said; she tightened her arms around his neck. "I am not going down."
"You are troublesome." And he continued walking.
Hazel was actually sleeping before, but she was woken up when Ranon picked her up from the car.
More so, why would Ranon still carry her when he already knew that she was actually not sleeping, not to mention the fact that she tricked him?
Just like what happened with Laurel before, he did it again.
But before he reached her room, Renna had already come, approaching them. She looked shocked and asked what happened because Hazel was being carried by Ranon.
"What happened, Miss? Are you okay? Are you feeling unwell? Should I call a doctor?"
Ranon stopped for a while and talked to her. "You don’t need to worry. She is only being lazy to walk. That’s why she tricked me into carrying her."
"What?" Hazel narrowed her eyes at him. She couldn’t believe how petty this man could be.
Meanwhile, Renna looked at both of them and then smiled widely, as if she was happy with the answer.
"Instead of a doctor, can you bring me the first aid kit? She scratched herself."
"Oh, okay." Only then did Renna notice the scratch on Hazel’s cheek.
But Ranon didn’t wait for her reply when he continued walking towards Hazel’s bedroom, and Renna left immediately.
Hazel didn’t understand why Ranon needed a first aid kit, but as he put her down on the bed and then caressed her cheek with his thumb, that’s when Hazel was able to feel the sting from the wound on her cheek.
"This wound should be healed before the wedding."
"Don’t worry, a graze like this will heal within a few days." Hazel knew her body.
Once she said that, she wanted to facepalm herself. This was no longer her body. This was Hazel’s body.
"I hope it will heal soon, before the wedding," she corrected herself.
Renna came into the bedroom not long after with the first aid kit, and Ranon told her to leave as he would take care of it.
He moved precisely and efficiently when he cleaned the wounds. He wetted the cotton with alcohol.
"You may want to go to a beautician after this just to be sure it will not leave any scar."
"Why? You don’t want to have a scarred woman as a wife?"
As a response, Ranon dabbed the cotton on her cheek a little bit harder.
"Hey! What’s that for?!" Hazel protested. Because it stung.
"Don’t get into a fight again," Ranon said.
"Because you don’t like a violent person?"
And this time Ranon flicked her head. "That’s the reason for you to have bodyguards."
"What? So, they could beat them up instead?"
"That’s what they are paid for."
Hazel was speechless when she heard that. "The way you are thinking is very twisted," she mumbled.
The truth was: Ranon was not against violence, and at this moment, he actually condoned it. But he simply didn’t want his future wife to fight because the possibility of her being at a disadvantage was higher.
There was a possibility she would get hurt as well, which didn’t make Ranon happy.
"I am not twisted. I am being realistic." Ranon applied an ointment, put the plaster on her open wound, and he was done.
Hearing that very short explanation, Hazel thought he was right about that, too. If Hazel had the bodyguards, she didn’t need to lift a finger to chase away those thugs.
"Well, you are right."
"Next time be more efficient."
Hazel grimaced. She couldn’t understand why she felt like she was being scolded by him. It felt like she was being told by her superior that she didn’t do her work well.
After Ranon was done with her wound, he put away the first aid kit.
"Now answer me, why do you need the gun?"
Just like what Hazel thought, this man had not yet dropped the topic about the gun that he found in her purse.
"Do you really have someone you wanted to kill? Or do you purchase the gun for protection?" Ranon waited for Hazel’s answer.
He assumed Hazel was completely aware that the Leighton family was the target of one of the best organizations of assassins in this country; thus, her life was also in danger. Therefore, protection and extra protection were needed.
"The second option."
"The second option." Ranon repeated her words. "So, how do you know where to purchase a gun in this country?"
Having a gun was not legal; only certain people could have it. It was not a simple purchase.
