Unexpected Marriage With Mr. Leighton: Rebirth of the Villain-Chapter 93: MISHAP ON HAZEL PART
Chapter 93: MISHAP ON HAZEL PART
"I still remember when you were born; you were very beautiful. A little baby that I had in my arms. I am sure your mother would love to see you. She would be very happy for you on your wedding day. She always talked about how excited she was to have a daughter when she was pregnant with you. She always gushed about how she couldn’t wait to see you."
Renna was reminiscing about the past; her gaze softened when she talked about it.
"Yeah, but I think she changed her mind after she gave birth to me. After all, she died." Hazel didn’t mean it to sound sarcastic or dramatic. She just talked without thinking.
She only stated the truth because that was all her father and brothers had been telling her in Hazel’s whole life.
It was engraved in Hazel’s core memory.
"No, don’t say that." Renna stopped her immediately. "Don’t ever say that. I know your mother would not be happy with the way your father and brothers treated you. She loved you so much, and I know her because I had been with her family since she was little too. That’s why I know how she felt if she learned that her daughter was mistreated. She loved you so much, Hazel; don’t ever doubt that."
When Hazel’s mother married Greyson, she brought Renna with her.
"And if the Leighton family doesn’t treat you well, and if your future husband hurts you like the way your father and brothers did to you, you need to go to your maternal family."
Hazel was not sure about that. As far as she knew, her mother’s family disowned her because she married Greyson. They didn’t like a politician at all. There were a few stories that she needed to dig into if she wanted to know more about it.
However, she didn’t think she would do it in the near future. This kind of information was not really important for her. Probably later if she found the need to figure out what was going on in her mother’s family.
"Okay." Hazel didn’t want to argue. She wanted this conversation to end quickly. Renna was being very emotional, and she didn’t know how to deal with this kind of conversation.
More so, she was reminiscing about Hazel’s childhood.
It was a little bit weird because as she occupied Hazel’s body, she felt like she had two childhoods. Even though River and Hazel were very different, somehow, they had the same shitty families.
Especially regarding the matter with their father. Neither River nor Hazel had a good role model of a father in their life.
"From now on, you need to choose yourself. Once you get out from this house, once you are away from these people, don’t ever let other people hurt you again."
"I will not let them hurt me. Don’t worry, Renna." Because she was not the real Hazel...
She was not Hazel. Hazel had died. Her brother killed her, and in her place was River, and she knew how to deal with those people around her. She was not someone that you would like to mess with.
"You need to know this, Hazel." Renna held her hand even tighter. She caressed the back of her hand and smiled sadly. "Your mother’s death is not your mistake. It’s completely not your fault."
How could they put the blame on an innocent baby? Renna still couldn’t comprehend that. Her father and brothers should have cherished her more, since Jasmine put her life at stake to save Hazel’s.
They disrespected Jasmine’s sacrifice.
"It’s fine, Renna. I am truly fine." The sentiment didn’t bother her much, like it did the original Hazel.
Yet, Renna shook her head. "I know you are not fine, Hazel." She lifted her head and looked deep into her eyes.
Hazel was not someone who would shy away from having eye contact with other people, but she averted her gaze because the way Renna looked at her, it almost felt like she could read deep into her soul.
And then she said something that made Hazel feel her heart was being stabbed for no reason.
"Just because you don’t talk about the things you have gone through doesn’t mean your life is fine." Renna kissed her knuckles again, like the way she did when Hazel was only a baby. "People hurt you, but then they acted like you hurt them. Don’t let them put you down again, Hazel; find your happiness."
Renna stretched her hand and then caressed her head lightly. She smiled softly as she whispered.
"I am proud of you."
And suddenly Hazel cried.
Hazel didn’t even realize it until Renna hugged her and patted her back. She didn’t know why she was crying; it was ridiculous, but her tears couldn’t stop flowing down. It created small rivers on her cheeks.
Hazel cried and was confused why she was crying, but then she remembered that...
Hundreds of broken bones during the training, countless successful missions, a bunch of deals, and negotiations that River managed to secure... Never, never, never once did her father say that he was proud of her.
Neither was it Arthur nor Greyson.
The sadness, the pain, the agony, the longing that she felt right now. It must be the accumulation of her own feelings and the original Hazel’s.
Both of them were longing for someone to acknowledge their efforts, to acknowledge their existence, to tell them that she was good enough, and they were proud of her.
Renna was the first person who said that, and Hazel couldn’t stop crying because of that small gesture. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com
Adding that to her pregnancy hormones, and Hazel was a puddle of tears. She cried like a baby in Renna’s arms.
How embarrassing.
But somehow it was therapeutic...
Renna felt like a mother for Hazel, a mother figure that neither Hazel nor River had in their lives.
It was decided then that Hazel would bring Renna with her when she moved in with Ranon. She didn’t know why, but she wanted her to be close with her. This must be what the original Hazel wanted too.

Ranon had a meeting with Lucian and Ares. They were talking about the information that Ranon got from Hazel; he told them about it, but he didn’t let them know the source of this information, yet they accepted it readily.
They didn’t ask questions, since they knew Ranon had so many sources. His people were almost at every corner in this country.
After they talked about it, Ares and Lucian were trying to redraft the deal with Rafael Scar, while Ranon was staring at the view outside; the sun almost set, and the meeting would be held in the evening.
The sky was so red as the sun started to hide on the horizon, it almost looked like the sky was blushing.
"The more you know, the more you will get into trouble," Ranon said out of the blue, and this caught Lucian’s and Ares’s attention.
They looked at Ranon and frowned.
"What do you mean?"
"What did you say?"
Ranon turned around and faced the two men that he trusted the most. "The more you know, the more you will get into trouble," he repeated what he said.
Actually, Ranon was quoting what Hazel said to him earlier when he wanted to know more about the gun. At first, he didn’t pay attention to it, but only now did he notice that.
"What are you talking about?" Lucian crossed his arms; he frowned as if Ranon just gave him a riddle to be solved.
"Haven’t you heard about that? Someone was used to saying this sentence."
"Who?" Lucian’s frown got deeper, while Ares tried to think harder. Both of them couldn’t recall this sentence.
"Someone used this line very often. Doesn’t it ring a bell?"
"No, there is no bell in my head," Lucian said. "I think the bell in my head is not working."
"Honestly speaking, there is nothing in your head." Ares dodged the pen that flew towards him easily and then shifted his attention back to Ranon. "Can you just tell us who said that?"
"Rize," Ranon replied, and the name clicked in Ares’s mind.
Of course he knew him, and Lucian seemed to have the bell in his head work again.
"Oh, that man from the candy shop, right? He is used to saying that stupid shit." Lucian was right. It was the man from the candy shop.
Hazel might not notice this when she quoted what Rize said to her; she was rather reckless not to think that Ranon might know about that place too.
But in her defense, River and Ranon didn’t live in the same ’world.’ It never crossed her mind that a businessman like Ranon would have some kind of deal with Rize, or even knew the candy shop existed.
And this mishap on Hazel’s part was an opening for Ranon to dig more about her. His curiosity about her had not yet been satisfied.
After all, he was not going to let it slide. Hazel was like a mystery for him that needed to be solved. It tickled his curiosity, and the more he was with her, the more he wanted to know who she truly was.

"What do you think you are doing, Olivia? What the heck is wrong with you?! You can’t leave now!" Lyle was getting frustrated with his older sister because she refused to listen to anyone else. She wanted to leave the hospital right away. "Don’t be ridiculous!"
"Lyle, I am fine now; I want to go back home."
