Yujun’s POV

The buzz from meeting the young boys fuels my determination.

Now that I know that my battle is more than just me, it’s for Haeri, it’s Sehun, it’s for every other omega that has been treated as a curse.

"Enjoy your stay" the taxi driver who helped me find my way says and I wave at him; the beta recognized me as a clan leader and told me that he assists the mafia community silently and supports me loudly.

With new confidence and faith, I step forward to enter the building where the council meeting will host, the place is decorated to appear as a simple shopping complex, but it hides many secrets.

"Choi Yujun" a man at the door asks and I nod, affirming my identity and the man beckons for me to come closer...I hope to change my name from Choi to Hwang soon.

The tall building feels intimidating as I move closer and I wipe my sweaty palm on my pants, keeping my head and shoulders squared, ’you can do this’ my omega says softly inside me.

"Who did you come with?" the guard at the door asks and I bow in greeting before responding to him, "I came alone" I say and he nods tersely.

The guard gives his partner a signal and the door is opened for me to go through.

"Drop all your weapons" the other guard says and I hold my hands out to show him my backpack, "I don’t have any weapons, only my clothes" I say and he nods towards the bag.

I go on one knee, keeping my attention on his face as I unzip my bag to show him what I have.

In the bag, I only have my changing clothes, two pairs of clean briefs, one of Jaehyun’s hoodie and Haeri’s onesie, I had taken their clothes to keep their scent with me.

"Good, go in" he says and I walk past him.

With every step I take down the elaborate hallway, my confidence sinks to the floor, and the fear of never seeing my pup and mate again grips my heart.

Is it too late to turn around?

’Be strong, you are divine’ my omega says and I take a deep breath to help myself.

I finally arrive at the main meeting space, and the door is pushed open immediately for me to go in, they’re already waiting for my arrival.

"Choi Yujun" a man in black robe calls my name and I step forward with my heart racing, there are five men in robes seated at the big table in the center of the dimly lit room, their faces are set to look stern as they eye me.

One of the elders with a white robe and a document growl loudly, "move faster boy, we don’t have all day" he snaps and I bow my head as I get closer, with my legs shaking.

"Hmm" he says as he observes me, "state your name for the council to hear"

"Choi Yujun" my voice comes out broken with my lack of boldness, their faces look even more unkind the longer they look at me, I wish Yeon mom was here...I wish I can turn around and go back home.

"Choi Yujun, son of Choi Sanwoo and his second wife, the first son and heir to throne" another elder sitting at the edge of the table says and I nod.

"Your crime and wrongdoing precede you" one says and he points to the screens behind me, and I turn to stare at it, the screen displays a video of me...the one that Jaehyun took, the one Taeho had leaked to the public on X.

"You masqueraded as an alpha while you are an omega, what do you have to say?" one of the kind-looking elders asks and another lets out a heavy sigh that echoes in the space, bouncing off the walls.

"I apologize for deceiving everyone for so long" I say and keep my head bowed.

’Tell them’ my omega says, urging me to say everything as it is, but...if I do it will put my father in trouble...

’You know how many more people suffer from your father’s cruelty, why are you defending him? Would you have preferred to mourn Haeri?’ a voice asks and I draw a deep breath.

"My father...hates that I am a male and that I presented as an omega, my condition is a curse and a mockery" I say and the elders watch me intently.

I grab the bottom of my shirt.

"W-what is he doing?" the elders gasps, "why is he taking off-"

I pull the shirt over my head and drop it to the floor while covering my chest with my hands as they stare at the marks decorating my body, the scars for my...curse.

I turn my back to them and the silence in the room is deafening.

"I lived like this since I presented till I was given away, every slip up will lead to being separated for days and being... ’trained’" I say.

I pick my shirt up again and put it on as quickly as I can, trying to keep chest hidden while feeling no shame for displaying myself like this.

"Hiding my gender was never a choice for me" I say softly.

"Why did you never report the abuse?" one of the elders asks and I smile weakly at him, "report the abuse? Forgive my insolence but no victim is ever taken seriously in this world" I say and they mutter to each other.

I keep my head down out of respect, not because I regret what I am saying, if I die here...then it is an okay death, at least I spoke truth.

"And...and we are told that you ran from your dealership with the Kangs" the kind elder says, keeping his tone soft and his words kind.

"Yes, I did, I found out too many things that were dangerous, he murdered his parents as a young child, and he runs his clan as a cult" I say and they start to murmur again.

"A cult?" someone asks.

"Yes, he thinks he’s a god...maybe it’s because he is a born alpha, I don’t know, but he used his alpha voice to destroy people" I say.

The elders discuss with each other again and I keep my back straight, knowing that they are deciding my fate in this moment, my heart is pounding but I fold my hand into a fist and wait...

"You did do what should have never been done" he says and I sigh.

"Yes, I killed Kang Chan" I say plainly, taking Jaehyun out of the conversation, I know that including him might lead to losing him.

"You killed a clan leader, it is against the very rules of our world, and I know you know that already, right?" the harsh elder asks and I nod, "yes, I know" I say and leans forward on the table.

"Yet you killed him, isn’t that spitting on the council?" he asks, wearing a grin like he just pinned me to the wall, and something sparks in me as I lift my shirt to show the scar from delivering Haeri.

"I had a child one month before her time to be born, do you know why? KANG CHAN" I yell, losing my temper at his careless question.

"Kill a man to spit the council? No! I killed a man to protect my pup" I growl with spite and pull the cloth down, "that man dared to go to my home, dared to attack my sleeping pup when no one was home...what should I have done?"

"You should have at least called the authorities" another one of the elder snaps at me and I turn to him, omega eyes flashing a furious blue as I look at him with my scent changing to a harsh burning smell.

"Call the authorities? I am the authority" I snarl and someone claps to break the tension in the room.

"That’s enough, self-defense is one thing, defense of one’s child is another, this young man is guiltless" the man says in a gruff voice.

"You will wait for our judgement in the room provided for you" the oldest council member at the head of the table says and I nod, accepting his instruction.

I give them a respectful bow and turn to leave, I can feel their eyes on my back like a burden, but I don’t care, I will not let them make me regret saving myself.

’Free’ my omega says.

I look up and find a female guard waiting to take me to my room, she doesn’t say a word but opens the door of the dark room for me to get in, and as soon as I step in, I hear a scream from her.

I gasp in pain as I am hit on the head and I fall to the floor, "w-what is going on?" I ask the shadow pinning me to the floor.

"You will not disgrace me further" my father’s voice says and I see my older half-sister, Yubin noona with a stick.

She had hit the council guard and knocked her unconscious.

"What are you doing? What the hell do you think you’re doing?" I yell and father stands in front of me, pressing the end of his cane to my hand, "I am making this family great again" he growls and knocks me out with the cane.
