Vampire's Blood Ascension-Chapter 29: Spiteful Vampire’s First Simulated Battle
With their last cacophonous shout, the crowd fell silent, and Rudy felt as if they were no longer there.
It wasn’t because of his perception; instead, the simulation itself had removed them to generate as little information as possible.
However, the arena, the sunlight, and the shadows stayed because they were qualities that could be used to determine distance, direction, speed, and many more.
The simulation was perfectly designed to provide the user with combat experience.
"Much better," Rudy muttered as he no longer felt the gazes of the crowd.
He looked at the other end of the arena, and his gaze fell on the simulated Bram who stood frozen in his place.
Rudy retrieved his long sword from his spatial ring, and without any hesitation, he dashed towards Bram.
Bram’s clone moved in accordance.
White sparks appeared around his arms, and a hand shield formed in his left and a shielded gauntlet with a forward spike in his right.
Dust followed Rudy’s steps as he neared Bram.
He raised his sword to the right, brought it down towards the left, and struck Bram on his hand shield.
The strength of the deviant lesser vampire crashed into the shield like a truck, but just as they collided, Bram’s shield shed a dim glow, and the impact vanished.
’Moon essence,’ Rudy noted in his head as he spun to the right and dodged Bram’s incoming fist.
The spike went past his ribs, and he swung his sword sideways.
Bram immediately lowered his hand shield to block the sword and followed him with a swing of his gauntlet fist.
Rudy immediately jumped back and threw a solid kick to his abdomen.
Blue static sparks buzzed around Bram’s abdomen as he slid back, and before he could gain his footing, Rudy appeared before him and threw another kick to his side.
The impact threw Bram off his feet, and he rolled onto the ground.
All of a sudden, Rudy stopped as a thought formed in his head.
He looked at his hands that were gripping the hilt. ’Why am I holding it like this...?’
He was holding the long sword with both of his hands. That’s how he learned it and always used it before becoming an irregular.
But he was no longer the weak Rudric Ironwell. He was the Scarlet Scion — the last child of the Blood God.
He removed his left hand from the long sword and swung it around. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
A smile appeared on his face, but at the same time, it felt unnatural. ’Weird. It will grow with time.’
He pushed away the useless thoughts and turned his focus back to Bram.
Bram was already on his feet, with a guarded stance.
’Hmm... the defense master doesn’t attack unless you attack them first, it’s kind of boring,’ Rudy noted in his head as he sprinted.
Just as he neared Bram’s range, Bram threw a punch towards his chest and pulled his left hand back.
Rudy easily dodged the spike, and Bram followed with his hand shield.
A grin appeared on his face as he side-stepped and lifted his sword above his head.
The shield went past him, and all of a sudden, Bram channelled his moon essence into his left arm and changed the direction of the shield.
The attack was swift and silent, and Rudy only understood what had just happened after the shield crashed into his face.
"Ugh!" Groaning, Rudy stumbled back, and Bram thrust the spike into his abdomen.
Rudy slid sideways, but the spike still managed to graze him.
His eyes turned furious, and his face twisted into something ugly. Looking sinisterly similar to that of a demon.
He drank the pain as if it were wine and stepped forward, not because he was finally serious, but because god forbid this spiteful bastard couldn’t see Bram standing straight after what he had just done.
An eerie grin split his face, and he sprang forward.
Bram punched towards him, and he moved enough not to get fatally wounded.
The spike punctured his side, but before it could truly dig in, Rudy threw a devastating punch to Bram’s face.
Blue static sparks flew off his face, and Rudy kicked him in the abdomen.
He staggered back, and Rudy slammed his knee into Bram’s groin and cracked his skull against Bram’s.
Blue sparks shot from his body, and Rudy thrust his sword into his left wrist before cutting off his hand, then he cut his arm off his shoulder and slid the sword through his neck.
Bram’s body burst into blue sparks, and a holographic screen appeared before him.
[You have won the simulated battle.]
[New battle]
[Redo battle]
[Leave arena]
Seeing the second option, Rudy’s lips stretched into a wide grin, and he mumbled, "Heh. Isn’t that just great?"
Without missing a single beat, he clicked on the second, and Bram once again appeared at the other end of the arena.
The battle began once again.
This time, Rudy smashed him into the ground.
Impaled him at the groin, at the sole of his feet, and his eyes before he killed him by chopping his body to pieces.
It was a gruesome fight whose only purpose was to fulfill his sadistic tendencies.
But as they say, under the right circumstances, even garbage can turn to gold. Rudy found out something appalling.
"These simulations don’t use any skills. They are just using essence," he mumbled in disappointment, even though he understood why it was in this way.
"Most dreadborns do not have skills, and a dreadborn below horror stage with a skill is unheard of."
A chuckle escaped him. "And if we somehow managed to find a horror, all we can do is run as fast as we can."
With that thought, he brought his sword down at Bram’s neck and killed him for the fifth time and mumbled in an ecstatic tone, "No matter how many times I kill him, it always feels like the first."
Without putting a leash on his rather peculiar tendencies, Rudy continued his battles... this time with new opponents.
