Villain Simulator-Chapter 113: Divine Descent
Everything unfolded so swiftly that by the time Adam came to his senses, he found himself lying in a pool of his own blood, on the brink of death.
His eyes became heavy, and his consciousness faded into darkness.
"How unfortunate."
Mrs. Thompson’s pitiful chuckle filled the air as she leaned over Adam’s prone form and effortlessly snatched the key-shaped trinket from around his neck.
With a toss, she passed it to Sylvia, who tucked it away in her robe’s inner pocket.
Though Mrs. Thompson was not even an elite, she was still a strong player, overwhelmingly stronger than the current protagonist, who still had not gotten many cheats and was not given time to grow up.
So it was natural that this would happen.
But…
Didn’t I tell you?
The protagonist was almost immortal—he was the chosen one, favored by fate, loved by the world, and the sole apostle of a goddess.
Consequently, I knew the battle wasn’t quite over yet.
’Get up. Show me, my dear protagonist. Yes, that ability.’
From above, my cold gaze bore down on the unfolding scene, and a strange anticipation coursed through me.
On the street below, having secured the key trinket, Mrs. Thompson wasted no time. With merciless determination, she got ready to deliver a fatal blow to Adam, aiming to crush his skull in a single strike and end his suffering.
"Poor lad, you should have taken the offer when I gave it to you."
She sighed with regret, but her hands didn’t stop, and her cane swung down with full force. The world seemed to have held its breath, and the air got heavy with the weight of the situation.
It was a hopeless situation for Adam.
However, in that pivotal moment, just as Mrs. Thompson’s cane was about to strike Adam’s head, a brilliant beam of light shattered through the heavens.
Rumble!
It cascaded down from the sky, defying the constraints of space and time, and bathed Adam’s body in its radiant glow.
"Divine Descent."
I murmured with a regretful sigh. My golden eyes became more dark and colder as I felt the sense of oppression brought by the light.
Zap!
Instantly, the pressure radiated from the beam of light surged outward, striking Mrs. Thompson with a terrifying force and sending her hurtling through the air.
Meanwhile, Adam, who was directly enveloped by the divine radiance, experienced a miraculous transformation.
His wounds began to heal at an astonishing rate, and his strength surged to unprecedented levels.
"Charlotte." I called out solemnly, and Charlotte understood without any further explanation, replying.
"The stats jumped around from about level 80 to straight level 250 plus. But he is still a bug; should I squash it?"
Charlotte responded; her voice was calm but filled with malice.
"Go kill him."
I commanded, and with a swift nod, Charlotte vanished into the shadows.
On the other side, Adam, who had lost consciousness, revived once again, his transformation complete. He wasted no time in analyzing the situation, his mind racing with thoughts.
"This threat has to be eliminated. If they can catch Father, then Rachael and Mother must also be in grave danger. I must save them at any cost."
His blood boiled, and fury surged within him like molten lava as he imagined his beautiful, innocent sister suffering at the hands of these people.
Moreover, now that he had used this power and would suffer from the unimaginable sequela soon, he had to kill these two people who knew his real identity as soon as possible.
Otherwise, he knew that things would become more and more complicated later. However, as he was planning his next move and how to torture these two women to extract information, a sudden, horrifying sight interrupted his thoughts.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Shadows sprung forth from below his feet like giant serpentine tentacles that coiled around him and trapped him in their grasp, rendering him immobile.
"Damn it!"
Adam cursed, squirmed, and struggled to get free, but to no avail; the shadows held him like thick metallic chains were restraining a toddler.
Unfortunately for him, that was just the beginning.
Because instantly after that, a crushing pressure descended upon him like a mountain, forcing the air out of his lungs and nearly bringing him to his knees, even in his divine form.
"I will not kneel!"
He roared with defiance burning in his eyes. But against the overwhelming might, his resistance was futile.
Bam!
With a resounding crash, his knees buckled underneath him, and his healed body once again started breaking down while blood seeped out from all his orifices.
Unprecendented horror surged through his body as he realized that even in his divine state, he was as helpless as a lamb before the slaughter.
Yet he had no time to dwell on his fate, because the moment his pride shattered and he knelt, a crescent-moon-shaped sinister black sword slash, as if cutting reality itself, materialized inches from his eyes.
In that fleeting moment, the world around him slowed down, and as the icy grip of death closed in, only one thought crossed his mind:
Death!
His perception slowed to a crawl, and his thoughts raced at breakneck speed, desperately trying to figure out a solution, exerting such intense pressure on his brain that tears of blood dripped down his eyes in futile despair.
Time seemed to stand still at that moment; the inevitability of his demise weighed heavily on his mind and almost shattered his soul in despair.
Everyone looking at the scene held their breath with anticipation, but as the sword slash bore down upon Adam, about to end his existence, his body vanished into thin air, leaving the deadly strike to split the ground below with a powerful impact.
BOOM-!!!
The earth shook, and the force of the blow sent shockwaves rippling through its surroundings.
Dust and debris filled the air, obscuring vision, but when it settled, the desired scene didn’t appear; there was no sign of the protagonist there; only a massive rift was left where the strike had landed.
"Where did he go?"
Charlotte’s voice echoed, and her figure appeared with a flash at the spot Adam vanished, as she searched all around with her senses fanatically, but to no avail.
Even the Shadow Guards surrounding the area were baffled by his sudden disappearance.
"He’s gone," I stated calmly, walking out of a dark corner. Sylvia followed behind me, her head bowed in submission like a loyal servant.
Charlotte ignored Sylvia but asked me in confusion.
"Long-distance teleportation?"
"Something like that," I replied cryptically.
"But we have already used space-blocking artifacts for long-distance teleportation, then how?"
"That’s why I said something like that. It was not something anyone could stop at this point in time, be it by a player or an artifact."
I didn’t continue to speak further, and Charlotte didn’t ask. She simply nodded and moved towards Mrs. Thompson to check on her injury, while I remained in my place, reflecting on Adam’s skill.
"Divine Descent."
It could be said to be one of the most broken skills in Adam’s arsenal—a cheat that allowed him to borrow the powers of the goddess Roshini.
But that was not all it did; its capabilities went beyond mere power.
In truth, it established a connection between Adam and the goddess, making it possible for her to intervene when needed. Even if Adam faced an opponent he couldn’t defeat with his Divine Descent, the Goddess could summon him back to her Divine Realm for recuperation.
The skill was so versatile that it could even activate automatically if it sensed Adam’s life was in danger, rendering any attempt to kill him instantly futile.
However, there were limitations to its use; summoning Adam into her Divine Realm would violate the Supreme Rules and incur punishment. Yet, I didn’t doubt that the goddess wouldn’t hesitate to do it for him again, as many times as it required.
This virgin bitch goddess was indeed Adam’s greatest supporter and cheat, making him effectively immortal as long as she existed.
Therefore, I knew that if I wanted to deal with him, I had to plan carefully. Though…
"Today’s beating should be enough to keep him away until he heals and returns from her Divine Realm. I can use this time to complete another World Travel."
Regardless, I had to say that today’s Adam, although not stronger than the current me, would certainly be stronger when he appeared again.
Fortunately, his current body was still weak, and he wasn’t able to use even a fraction of the goddess’s power. But...
"I have to think of countermeasures."
Now that I saw his skill along with Charlotte and the other Shadow Guards, I had to think about how to deal with it with their expert help.
Passive behavior wasn’t my style; I had to find a way to prevent his escape.
’If I can, I shall kill him in the bud.’
That being said,
’I got a pretty good harvest today.’
I took out the key-shaped trinket and held it tightly in my arm.
’With this, I would have more confidence in today’s plan.’
To do that, I immediately called the system into my mind.
’System, help me to refine it completely so it can merge with me.’
[It will cost 500 UC; does the host want to do it?]
"Do it."
With my command, a single drop of crimson blood was drawn from my fingertip by an unknown force and then quickly absorbed by the trinket, causing it to ignite into a radiant burst of light, transforming into a torrent of silver glitter that was swallowed by my body completely.
At the same time, a sword-shaped tattoo appeared on the back of my right hand.
[Evolution Sword (prototype) successfully merged]
The warm light of dawn illuminated my face as I looked at the system notification, creating a scene of tranquility, but I knew that it was merely the calm before the storm.
Only a few hours remained until Rachael’s awakening.
New York City would soon usher in chaos, and people would plunge into mayhem.
But all that had nothing to do with me, for I had my own work to do as the artist who would mold the chaos into a masterpiece of my own.
’I have prepared all I could; now I just have to wait... Rachael and Daisy, I hope you two won’t disappoint me.’
