Wasting Money to Become an Immortal-Chapter 372: Taboo zone
After settling them in there, it was just me who came out of the Space and Time Training Room.
Since I was alone, I didn’t really have to worry about anything about what others thought.
I was able to do what I wanted since I was all alone.
So without hesitation, I had Bolt transform and head off.
Where I was heading was the next location of the upper realm invader.
I wanted to take care of the next one as soon as possible since they were currently in training and wouldn’t be able to stop me.
That was why I chose the closest dot on the map to head towards.
It was just that this was a wrong choice.
The closer that I got to the dot, the stranger the area around me became.
I didn’t have a map of the continent memorized and I didn’t bring one since I didn’t think there would be a need with Bolt’s flying abilities. But it turned out that this was a mistake since there were parts of the continent that were special.
It was just a good thing that I was able to find traces of people in the surrounding area and was able to find a trail to follow. With this trail, I was able to find my way to a city that was nearby.
This place seemed like the only place that was here in the middle of this area that was turning into a desert.
It seemed like there were quite a few people that were coming in and out of this city.
Without knowing what was happening in this place, it would be dangerous to follow the map to find the red dot. So I chose to head into the city to get the information that I needed.
Of course, I wouldn’t just fly into the city on the back of Bolt.
There’s no doubt that I would have attracted a lot of attention if I were to do something like that.
So I just landed near the city and walked in.
It didn’t seem like there was a checkpoint at the gate, everyone seemed like they were free to enter. Though there were guards that were at the gate that seemed like they were ready to intervene if something were to happen.
But it seemed more like a formality rather than them actually being on guard against anything.
In fact, it seemed that most of the people that were moving in and out of the city were people that were just passing by. Looking closely, it even seemed that most of the people that were coming in and out were mercenaries.
It seemed that there was something about this place that attracted these kinds of people here.
The first place that I went after entering the city was one of the bars.
The bar was the best place to get information, especially for a rich young master like me.
So I went right up to the barkeeper and dropped a high grade spirit stone on the table before saying, "I want some information."
The moment that this high grade spirit stone came out, all of the patrons looked over with surprised looks. There were a few of them that had greed in their eyes, but they didn’t act right away as there were too many people here.
For now, I was just too lazy to deal with them.
The barkeeper looked at me with one brow raised before reaching out to take the spirit stone and asking, "What do you want to know?"
"Where is this place?" I asked with a calm smile on my face.
The barkeeper couldn’t help looking at me as if I was crazy, but I didn’t care as I waited for his answer.
After a while, he said, "This is Sand Wind City, it’s on the edge of the Tarask Desert."
"Tarask Desert?" I asked in a confused voice.
The barkeeper’s expression became even more strange when he heard this, but he still calmly explained what this place was.
It turned out that this was one of the taboo zones of the continent, a zone that most people wouldn’t dare enter unless they were crazy. It was a place that was filled with dangerous sandstorms and many different monsters.
The only reason that the mercenaries even gathered here was because there were treasures that could be obtained, but the price that they had to pay was the chance of death.
So most people didn’t come to this place unless they had no choice.
"Do you have a map of the desert?" I asked once the barkeeper finished explaining.
The barkeeper was still looking at me with a strange look, but eventually he took out a piece of paper that he put on the table.
The map that he pulled out was a very crude one that didn’t have any specific landmarks, but it did give a general idea of what the area was like.
At the very least, it was better than nothing.
Then there was only one last thing for me to ask, "Has anything strange been happening in the desert lately?"
This question was one of the more common questions that the barkeeper received, so he didn’t seem surprised as he said, "Not much that I’ve heard of. I think there’s been a few people that have been complaining that there have been more sandstorms as of late, but not much else."
I just gave a simple nod before putting two more spirit stones on the table.
The barkeeper’s eyes opened wide, but he still took it.
But after he took it, he couldn’t help saying, "You should be careful on your way out."
I just looked at him with a smile as I said, "The second one is to pay for the repairs."
The barkeeper’s eyes opened wide once more after he heard this before he narrowed his eyes to look at me.
But at this time, I had already turned to look at the rest of the bar.
Using my fingers to point out a few people, I said, "All of you, come at once. I don’t want to waste my time."
