Wasting Money to Become an Immortal-Chapter 394: Heavenly punishment

Once this matter was settled, I was just too lazy to care about the young man and the rest of his group.

In the first place, I never thought anything about them since I wasn’t even planning on competing with them.

The only reason that I had done all of that was all because they had forced my hand.

I really didn’t have a choice as he didn’t seem like he wanted to leave this matter alone.

As such, I just dealt with it as simply as I could in a manner that was befitting of my status as a prodigal.

But that didn’t mean that others would leave matters alone.

"Congratulations on defeating a Heaven’s Chosen and taking his providence."

I was surprised to see this notification suddenly appear in front of me. It completely caught me off guard that I had to take another look to make sure that I was reading the right thing.

However, there was no mistaking the words that were in front of me.

"Heaven’s Chosen..." I couldn’t help repeating to myself in my mind.

I was finally able to figure out what the reason for the young man being able to choose two Nascent Soul Realm Artifacts and a Golden Core Realm Artifact like this was. It was because he was someone who was chosen by the wills of the heavens themselves, so he had the heavens on his side.

With the heavens guiding him, it was only natural that he would be able to find these treasures.

This was the kind of luck that one would expect from some kind of main character.

Though his story in a sense was similar to that of a main character.

He was someone that had encountered a rich and powerful young master who seemed to be suppressing him.

In this scenario, it really seemed like I was the bad guy.

However, I had my own system, so it wasn’t as if he would be able to beat me.

"What does it mean that I’ve taken his providence?" I asked the system when I slowly came back to my senses."

"The providence that the heavens gave him now belongs to you." Then after a pause, the system added, "Though you most likely don’t need this providence in the first place."

I couldn’t help feeling confused when I heard this, but I didn’t get a chance to ask anything else as there was a sound that brought me out of my thoughts.

"Boom!"

There was a loud booming sound that came from the sky.

Everyone recognized that this was the sound of thunder, so they looked up to see that there were clouds gathering. Inside of these clouds, there were streaks of lightning that seemed to be condensing into a powerful bolt of lightning.

Now it was just a matter of time before the lightning fell down.

Everyone was shocked to see this since they didn’t think that there would be lightning gathering all of a sudden like this.

But before anyone could say anything, the young man who had been forced to his knees suddenly started laughing before saying, "The punishment of the heavens! Even the heavens are on my side! They are here to punish this criminal!"

Everyone was once again surprised to hear this as they couldn’t help wondering if this young man was right about this.

I was even a bit worried since I had seen the system’s notification about the young man being a Heaven’s Chosen.

As if the system could sense my worries, it suddenly said, "He has already been stripped of his qualifications as one of the Heaven’s Chosen, the heaven’s will will not be on his side. You don’t have to worry about anything."

I was only more confused when the system said this, but I trusted the system.

In a worst case scenario, I would just call out the defense system to protect me.

I didn’t think that the heaven’s will of a small lower realm like this would be able to defeat the defense system of my system.

The lightning continued to gather as the young man screamed for the heavens to punish me.

Once the lightning finished gathering, there was a powerful rumble before a bolt of lightning fell down.

The young man’s eyes were wide open with excitement as he looked at me, as if he couldn’t wait to see me being hit by this bolt of lightning.

Unfortunately for him, this bolt of lightning never fell down on me.

"ZZT!"

"Ah!"

The young man never would have thought that the bolt of lightning that gathered would fall down on him and his people. They weren’t able to resist the power of this bolt of lightning at all as they were charred to a crisp.

In their final moments, there were looks of regret and confusion as they couldn’t understand what had happened.

Why would the heavens suddenly smite them with lightning bolts like this?

They couldn’t help feeling aggrieved by the fact that this was how their lives had ended.

But what they didn’t know was that the heaven’s will was actually cursing them.

Out of all the people that he could have chosen to mess with, why did he have to choose to mess with that monster?

The heaven’s will couldn’t even face this monster, what made him think that he would be able to do anything to him?

As such, the heaven’s will immediately stripped the young man of his favour and sent down that bolt of lightning.

Once the bolt of lightning had turned the young man and his people into charcoal, there was a change that happened to the clouds that gathered in the sky. The clouds started to change form until it took the form of two words.

"Heavenly Punishment."

Those were the two words made of clouds that lingered in the air for a bit before disappearing without a trace.

When it was all over, everyone couldn’t help turning to look at the one person that they believed was the cause for this.

All of them were looking at me.
