Chapter 401: A little warning

After saying this, I started slowly heading towards the gate.

I had deliberately put us in the back since I had already expected something like this. I didn’t want to be caught up in the crowd and forced to charge with them.

To our sides, there were other people who had done the same thing that were also slowly going at their own pace.

But it seemed like the senior brothers and sisters weren’t satisfied with this.

Though they still slowly followed me out of the city gates.

I didn’t say anything to explain even though I could see the looks on their faces.

It was only when we were out of the city that I finally said, "You’re not happy about getting there late?"

The senior brothers and sisters were surprised to hear me ask this all of a sudden before awkward looks appeared on their faces. It seemed like there was something that they wanted to say, but they just didn’t feel right about saying it.

I didn’t mind this at all as I said, "If we were to rush there now, wouldn’t be we stuck fighting all of the small demons at the edge of the valley? Are you going there just to fight the small fries?"

The senior brothers and sisters were once again surprised to hear this, but then they slowly shook their heads to show that this wasn’t what they wanted.

Seeing this, I added, "If we were to rush there now, we would just be used by the others to clear out the mobs. Didn’t you see all of the people who were standing at the back with us? The auras around them weren’t normal and all of them slowly made their way out of the city."

The senior brothers and sisters were surprised once more before slowly nodding in agreement.

They hadn’t really thought about it since they had been stirred by the words of the higher ups from the Central Sect Alliance.

But now that they had calmed down, they found that this was indeed the case.

It seemed that there really was nothing good about rushing to the Demon Valley.

As they realized this, smiles appeared on the faces of the senior brothers and sisters as they started praising me.

"Junior brother, you really are something else."

"We had completely let our blood go to our head and weren’t thinking straight."

"Right! Leave it to junior brother to remain calm and think things through."

I just waved my hand at them to show that it was nothing without actually saying anything in response.

That was because there was something else that I wanted to say, but I was hesitating over saying.

In the end, I just took a deep breath and said, "Before we reach the Demon Valley, I have something that I want to talk to you all about."

They were once again taken aback when they heard this, but when they saw the strange look that was on my face, the senior brothers and sisters calmed down and waited for me to speak.

"Junior brother, you can tell us anything."

The way that they said this was as if they were showing that they had absolute faith in me.

After taking a deep breath and looking around to make sure that there was no one here, I said to them, "I want you to be careful when we arrive in Demon Valley later."

"Careful?" The senior brothers and sisters all looked confused when they heard this.

I gave a slow nod as I said, "There’s something strange about the Demon Slaying Conference this time. I can’t tell you what it is specifically, but I hope that you will take care of yourself. If you’re ever in danger, don’t hesitate to use the artifacts that you have."

No one was confused, they all understood that I meant the artifacts that I had gotten them from the artifact gambling.

Only no one thought that it would be this serious.

"Junior brother, are you sure about this?"

"Junior brother, you might be a bit tense. How about we rest up a bit before we head to Demon Valley?"

"Junior brother, this is your first time, so it’s normal to feel this way. I’m sure that you’re just thinking too much."

I shook my head and gave a sigh when I heard this.

If it was anyone else, then I would have given up then and there in trying to convince them. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

But since they were from the Star Peak Sect, it wasn’t as if I could just give up on them.

Liu Ao Xue would be sad if anything happened to these senior brothers and sisters of hers.

"This Demon Slaying Conference will not be normal. The demons that we are facing will be unlike anything that you’ve faced before. I hope that you will keep this in mind later."

The senior brothers and sisters fell silent when they heard this.

They all looked at me with a strange look, but I didn’t say anything.

I wanted to act as mysterious as possible, which was why I had said what I said before.

I wanted to leave a deep impression on them so that they heeded my words.

After a long silence, they slowly started nodding as if my words were sinking in.

This was the reaction that I wanted to see, but even then, I didn’t say anything.

I knew what kind of impression they had of me, so the best way to convince them was to act mysteriously. The best way to trick them was to let their minds write their own stories so that they would misunderstand.

I just hoped that they would keep my warning in mind since I would most likely be too busy to help them if something did happen.

There was still the red dot on the map and I could see that I was heading right towards it.

"I wonder what kind of demon it will be." I couldn’t help thinking to myself.
