Wasting Money to Become an Immortal-Chapter 407: Sacrifice altar
Though we had been prepared, there was nothing that could have prepared us for what we saw.
It was a truly demonic scene when we walked into the clearing that the red beam of light was coming from.
At the very center of this clear, there was this altar.
All around this altar were all sorts of demons and demonic cultivators.
It all seemed like they were worshipping whatever this altar was devoted to.
But there also seemed to be some kind of throne that was at the center of this altar and sitting on the throne was a large demon.
This was a stereotypical type of demon with red skin, horns, and wings. This was the kind of demon that would have been commonly seen in anything that mentioned demons in my past world.
Though this was the kind of demon that was rare for this cultivation world.
After all, the cultivation world’s definition of a demon was someone who fell to their inner demons and couldn’t control their cultivation. It was completely different from the western type of demon that was in my previous world.
So my group seemed surprised to see this demon sitting on the throne.
For them, this definitely was a strange sight that they weren’t used to seeing.
They couldn’t just accept it as easily as me.
But since I could accept it easily, that meant that my attention was pulled by something else.
There was something else here that immediately attracted my attention.
It was the pools of blood that were here.
There were a total of four pools of blood that were scattered around the altar and it seemed like all of them were fresh. There were even some corpses that were lying on the sides of the pools of blood, which showed that they had even been harvesting the blood not that long ago.
From the residual energy coming from those corpses, I could tell that these weren’t the corpses of any powerful experts.
These were nothing more than normal humans.
They had most likely been captured by the demonic sects whose cultivators were currently around the altar.
All of this was an offering to the demon that was sitting on the throne in the center of the altar.
It was clear that they were making this sacrifice to this demon.
Thinking back on the zombies that had appeared, I had a faint idea of where the corpses for the zombies came from. They most likely came from the same source as the corpses that were currently scattered around the pools of blood.
They were most likely people that had been captured by the demonic sects and sacrificed to this demon...
I could only take comfort in the fact that we had put them to rest after they had been turned into zombies by these demonic cultivators.
After all of these thoughts appeared in my head, I made up my mind.
There was no mercy to be shown.
Even if I didn’t show mercy in the first place since they were invaders that should have been dealt with, I was planning on showing even less mercy to these people. They were nothing good, so they didn’t deserve any semblance of mercy.
All that they deserved was death and it would be the most painful kind of death.
Of course, the fact that we walked into this clearing was not missed by those that were around the altar. However, it didn’t seem like they were planning on doing a single thing as they just continued to face the altar that was in the center of this clearing.
When I came back to my senses, it was already too late.
There was a reason why they had been ignoring us the entire time.
The slight moment of shock was all that was necessary for them to accomplish what they wanted to accomplish.
The pools of blood that were around the altar suddenly started to stir before the blood inside of these pools suddenly started to float. They floated there in the air for a bit before just as suddenly starting to move towards the altar in the center.
The throne that the demon was sitting on was the target of these flowing rivers of blood.
Once the rivers of blood reached the throne, they were absorbed by it.
Once the blood was absorbed by the throne, there was a faint red light that appeared around it as if it had absorbed the essence of the blood.
That faint red light flowed through the throne until it entered the body of the demon sitting there on the throne.
Only there didn’t seem to be a reaction coming from the demon even though this red light was flowing into it.
It was as if the red light didn’t have a single effect on the demon.
That was until the red light suddenly stopped flowing into the demon.
All of the blood in the pools of blood had been absorbed by the throne, so the red light disappeared as well.
It was only when the red light disappeared that the demon finally opened its eyes as if it had awakened from its slumber.
Those eyes even seemed to have a red glow to them as they suddenly turned to look in my direction.
There was a smile that appeared on the face of the demon as it said, "You’re too late. You can’t stop me now."
Then with a huff of air, there was a terrifying aura that came from the demon.
This was an aura that was far beyond anything that I had sensed in this lower realm before.
Even the Transcendence Realm Four Kings couldn’t match this aura.
This aura seemed like it broke through the very limits of the lower realm itself.
"Human Immortal." Mu Bao Bao suddenly said to herself in a dazed voice.
I slightly knitted my brows when I heard this, but I had to agree with what she said.
It seemed that this demon had collected enough sacrifices that it was able to break the limits of the lower realm and recover its upper realm cultivation.
It was most likely the most powerful thing in this lower realm right now...
