Chapter 169: Chapter 169: You’re Already Discussing Marriage With My Husband

Jett Sterling sighed. "That’s why I said from the beginning, either Elle stays with me or he stays with her. But she and I will never have anything to do with each other."

"I know, and I agree. But didn’t Elle just have a sudden relapse?" The more Vivian Quinn thought about it, the more upset she became. "I think this means the thread of fate between you and Shirley Wentworth hasn’t been broken. Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence that Elle would get sick at this exact moment?"

"Vivian, you’re getting more and more absurd," the man said sternly. "What fate could there possibly be between her and me, hmm?"

"I’m talking about the situation... Mmph..."

Before Vivian Quinn could finish, her lips were sealed by the man’s.

He kissed her with an urgency that scrambled all her thoughts. Unable to think, she could only follow her instincts and return his kiss.

The faint sound of footsteps came from the hallway outside. Vivian Quinn snapped back to her senses, her eyes flying open like a startled bird. She didn’t dare move a muscle!

But Jett Sterling was being mischievous. His hands roamed her waist, sending shivers through her.

Vivian Quinn shot him a glare and tried to push his hands away, but she accidentally bumped a nearby shelf, making a loud noise!

"Huh? What was that sound?" The person passing by outside stopped curiously and knocked on the door. "Is anyone in there?"

Vivian Quinn’s heart raced. If anyone saw her and Jett Sterling in here, a man and a woman alone, they would definitely get the wrong idea!

Just as Jett Sterling was about to speak, a pair of soft, delicate hands covered his mouth.

Vivian Quinn frantically shot him a look, signaling him not to make a sound.

Seeing no response, the person outside quickly left.

Vivian Quinn let out a silent sigh of relief and finally removed her hand. "Professor Sterling, didn’t you say you were here to get some materials? Hurry up and get them. If we don’t leave soon, people will get suspicious."

The man chuckled softly. "Then you’re not allowed to let your imagination run wild."

"It would be nice if overthinking did any good." Vivian Quinn pouted. "Don’t worry, I’m not dwelling on it. No one can affect our relationship."

"Good. Go on back to class."

"Okay."

Jett Sterling only taught in the morning. After having lunch at the university, he returned to Sycamore Bay.

"Jett, you’re back." Shirley Wentworth came forward to greet him. "Have you had lunch?"

Jett Sterling ignored her.

In front of the maid, Shirley Wentworth felt extremely awkward, but she could only force a smile and say, "Jett, I heard you went to Vivian Quinn’s university. You two are so close, attached at the hip wherever you go."

Jett Sterling’s brow furrowed slightly. "No one at Sycamore Bay knew where I was going. Did you have someone follow me?"

Shirley Wentworth’s expression changed, and she hastily denied it. "Of course not!"

Jett Sterling sneered. "Don’t worry. Plenty of people have me followed; one more from you doesn’t make a difference. They’re all just small fry, so I won’t hold it against you."

Shirley Wentworth’s face turned even uglier!

Nanny Jenner was inwardly gloating. She stepped forward and handed him an iPad. "Young Master, here is this evening’s menu for your review."

"Add a few more dishes that Vivian likes. She found her breakfast a bit rich, so try to keep tonight’s meal light."

"Yes, sir."

After Jett Sterling left, Nanny Jenner walked over to Shirley Wentworth and looked at her with a smirk. "Miss Wentworth, you can tell me what dishes you’d like to eat, and I’ll have the kitchen add them."

Shirley Wentworth knew exactly what she meant, but she could only swallow her anger. "No, thank you. I’ll eat whatever they’re having."

"I’m afraid that won’t do. The kitchen prepares a set amount of food. Each dish is portioned for two people, so there is no share for you. You’ll have to order separately."

Shirley Wentworth was so angry her fingertips trembled!

’Even a servant dares to speak to me like this,’ she thought. ’It seems I really can’t wait any longer, or I’ll just become more and more passive!’

...

In the evening, Vivian Quinn finished her classes on time and took Ian Sterling’s car back to Sycamore Bay, only to find the atmosphere in the living room was heavy.

Jett Sterling’s face was dark, while Shirley Wentworth was wiping away tears.

"What’s wrong?" Vivian Quinn’s heart skipped a beat. "Did something happen to Elle?"

"No." Jett Sterling took her hand. "Don’t scare yourself. Sit down."

Vivian Quinn sat down. "Then what on earth happened?"

"Madam, people from the Wentworth Family were here. They just left a few minutes ago," Nanny Jenner explained.

Ian Sterling whistled. "No wonder a car just passed me. I saw the license plate and thought it was pretty slick. So it was the Wentworths."

Vivian Quinn was curious. "Why would the Wentworth Family come here? Do they know about Elle?"

"Yes." Nanny Jenner looked at Shirley Wentworth with displeasure. "It was Miss Wentworth’s father. Chairman Wentworth knew she had returned to the country for a while now, but he didn’t seek her out. Instead, he had people watching her. They found out she was coming to Sycamore Bay every day and even stayed the night yesterday. That’s why he came to the door today, assuming Miss Wentworth and the Young Master were romantically entangled. He also found out about the young master’s existence."

Vivian Quinn frowned. "So what is the Wentworth Family’s stance?"

Nanny Jenner grew even angrier. "The Wentworth Family actually wants the Young Master to marry Miss Wentworth! It’s absolutely absurd!"

"Bigamy is illegal." Vivian Quinn’s expression turned cold. "Miss Wentworth, since it was you staying at Sycamore Bay that your father discovered, I believe you should be the one to negotiate this with your family. Let me be blunt: it is impossible for anyone to break up my marriage. I, Vivian Quinn, may not be as rich or powerful as your Wentworth Family, but I have one title: Jett Sterling’s lawful wife. Please convey that to your family."

"Initially, I let Elle stay here for treatment out of goodwill, and I couldn’t bear to separate a mother and son. But since things have escalated to this point, I don’t think it’s appropriate for you to be here anymore. As for Elle, I’m very fond of him and would be happy for him to stay. However, if you insist on staying with him, then I’m sorry, but I’m not that magnanimous. You are free to take him with you. The medical team can manage his condition. My presence is not indispensable."

A corner of Jett Sterling’s mouth curved up, extremely satisfied.

Ian Sterling secretly gave Vivian Quinn a thumbs-up. "Well said, Vivian Quinn!"

Shirley Wentworth hadn’t expected Vivian Quinn to be so direct. She frowned and said, "Is Miss Quinn trying to kick me out?"

"You could interpret it that way. After all, you’re already discussing marriage with my husband. It wouldn’t be right for me to ask you to stay for dinner."

Shirley Wentworth was so angry she laughed. "Jett, is this the woman you love? She doesn’t have an ounce of tolerance."

Vivian Quinn retorted immediately, "That’s right, I’m just that petty. But this petty person happens to be the one sitting in the seat of Mrs. Sterling. A woman as generous and cultured as Miss Wentworth would surely go back and persuade her father not to let her knowingly become a homewrecker, right?"

"HA HA HA HA HA!" Ian Sterling burst out laughing.

Shirley Wentworth found the laughter grating. "Miss Quinn, you’ve really opened my eyes. I’ve never met someone as vulgar as you."

Before Vivian Quinn could speak, the man’s low, cold voice slowly sounded out, "Who did you say is vulgar?"
