Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 175: You’ve Starved Me for Several Days
Ian Sterling could hardly wait. "Looks like we’re in for a good show!"
...
Jett Sterling had been busy with work all day and only returned in the evening. Seeing Shane Shaw was there, he opened two bottles of red wine to welcome him.
The three men were in high spirits and sent for more red wine several times. Each of them drank quite a bit.
Vivian Quinn didn’t drink. She took Elle to his room to put him to bed.
Around ten o’clock, Jett Sterling finally returned to their room. He found Vivian Quinn holding Elle, gently patting his back as she lulled him to sleep.
"Shh..." Vivian Quinn whispered. "Keep your voice down. He just fell asleep."
Jett Sterling rose from his wheelchair, walked over, and kissed the corner of her lips. "Are you tired?"
"Elle is pretty well-behaved, so no, I’m not tired."
"I’m going to take a shower."
"Jett," Vivian Quinn said, grabbing his hand, "why didn’t you tell me about the Wentworth Family’s dinner party?"
"I figured Ian Sterling’s big mouth would tell you, so I didn’t need to."
"But you didn’t discuss it with me."
"What’s there to discuss?"
"Whether or not to attend."
Jett Sterling frowned. "You want to go?"
"Of course," Vivian Quinn reasoned. "If we don’t go, we’ll be on the defensive. The Wentworth Family is making a move. They want to tell everyone that Shirley Wentworth had your child, and that by all rights, you should marry her. That’s why I have to go, and I have to go openly. Not only will I be there, but I’ll be dressed to kill, so everyone knows that I am Mrs. Sterling, and no one should even dream of taking my place."
Jett Sterling let out a low, husky laugh. "Mrs. Sterling, you’re adorable."
"I’m being serious."
"I’ll do as my wife says."
"Really?"
"It’s just one dinner party. A trivial matter. As long as I’m there, no one will dare look down on you or bully you."
"Okay." Vivian Quinn kissed his incredibly handsome face. "You reek of alcohol. I’ll have someone bring you some soup to sober you up, so the smell doesn’t bother the child."
Jett Sterling’s fingertips traced her delicate, beautiful face. His low, husky voice held a hint of a pout. "Mrs. Sterling, you’ve left me hanging for several days..."
Vivian Quinn instantly understood what he meant, and her cheeks flushed. "Elle is sleeping right here. What else are we supposed to do?"
"We could go to another room, hmm?"
"Are you crazy? What if he wakes up and no one’s here?"
The words had barely left her mouth when Vivian Quinn sensed his disappointment. Her heart softened. "How about another day? When Elle’s a little better, we can... Ah! Jett Sterling, what are you doing!"
Before she could finish, the man unexpectedly threw back the covers and swept her up into his arms!
Vivian Quinn wrapped her arms around his neck. "What do you think you’re doing?"
With long strides, the man headed for the bathroom. "Keep me company in the shower."
"..."
Once the bathroom door closed, it didn’t open again for a very long time...
Vivian Quinn didn’t know how she had fallen asleep. In a daze, she felt herself being carried out of the bathroom and gently placed back onto the bed.
She instinctively glanced at her phone—it was almost four in the morning.
Vivian Quinn didn’t even have the strength to lift a finger. The moment her head touched the pillow, she was fast asleep.
She didn’t know how long had passed before she was jolted awake by a frantic knocking at the door!
Nanny Jenner’s frantic voice came from the other side of the door. "Mrs. Sterling, wake up! The master is having an episode!"
Vivian Quinn’s eyes shot open. She threw on a robe and rushed out. "Where is he?"
"In the study!"
Vivian Quinn could already hear a man’s pained groans coming from the study. She immediately ran down to the room in the basement to retrieve her silver needles, then rushed into the study to administer them to Jett Sterling.
"Jett, hang in there and listen to me," Vivian Quinn explained. "These silver needles have been soaked in a medicinal solution I developed. Elle is too young, so I didn’t dare test it on him. You’re the only one I can try it on. During the procedure, you have to tell me immediately if you feel any discomfort at all. Understand?"
A smile lifted the corners of the man’s pale lips. "I’ll always trust my Miracle Doctor. Go ahead."
"Alright!" 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Vivian felt a deep sense of unease, proceeding with even more caution than usual as she administered the needles to Jett Sterling.
With each needle she inserted, she carefully observed Jett Sterling’s complexion and asked if he felt any discomfort, only continuing after confirming everything was fine.
Before she had even finished, the cold sweat on Jett Sterling’s forehead subsided.
"Jett, you have so much more color in your face. How do you feel now?"
"The pain is gone."
"Really?" Vivian Quinn’s face lit up. "The pain is gone, and I’m not even done with the needles?"
"Yeah."
"That’s wonderful! It means the formula I created is actually working!" Vivian Quinn let out a sigh of relief. "This is a massive breakthrough!"
"I knew my Miracle Doctor could do it."
Elle, who had been watching from the sidelines, asked curiously, "Vivian, why does Daddy have to get needles too?"
"Because Daddy gets headaches, just like you," Vivian Quinn explained. "See, Elle? Daddy is going through the same thing you are. You two need to love each other from now on. You can’t dislike him, okay? You’re the two closest people in the world."
"Okay, fine..." Elle said reluctantly. "I guess I can share some of my favorite snacks with Daddy."
"Good boy."
Vivian’s confidence soared. She removed the needles from Jett Sterling and helped him back to their room to rest.
Once Jett Sterling was asleep, she closed the door, left the room, and summoned Easton Rivers. "Jett hasn’t had an attack in a long time. What happened today?"
Easton Rivers bowed his head and reported, "Ma’am, his workload has been quite heavy these last few days. Master Sterling has been overexerting himself, which is likely why the attack occurred."
"Is the company that busy?"
"A little, yes."
"I see. From now on, let me know when work gets this hectic. I’ll make sure he rests to minimize the chances of another attack."
"Yes, Ma’am."
This successful treatment greatly boosted Vivian’s confidence. She soon holed herself up in the basement room again, continuing her research on medicinal herbs.
She used the data Mason Landon had provided, combined it with the recent blood test results from Jett Sterling and Elle, and even went to the university to consult with her mentor about adjusting the formula.
Hugh York didn’t understand traditional Chinese medicine, but after reading Vivian’s report, he was full of praise. "Judging from the bloodwork comparison, your formula is definitely having an effect. Vivian, I knew I wasn’t mistaken about you."
"Thank you for the compliment, Professor York, but my skills are still far from adequate."
"Your talent is already unparalleled." Hugh York looked at her with admiration, then sighed. "It’s just a shame Mason Landon has gone abroad. If he were still here, the two of you joining forces would have been a tremendous boon to the medical community."
Vivian just smiled and didn’t say anything.
Hugh York looked at her. "Vivian, be honest with me. Did Mason Landon go abroad because of you?"
"Why would you ask that? Did he say something to you?"
"We met once before he left. He didn’t say a word, it’s just my own guess," Hugh York said with a smile. "At my age, I’ve been around the block a few more times than you kids. I’ve seen a thing or two."
"Mason Landon is a devoted young man. Since he’s in love with you, he wouldn’t give up so easily, let alone suddenly move abroad permanently. That’s why I’m guessing it has something to do with you."
