What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?-Chapter 90: Teleporting Home
"I think... It’s quite close to a Rift Breakout stage already isn’t it?" Kris asked, looking back at the portal while breathing hard.
Olivia nodded, her eyes never leaving the portal, "I thought we still had time but... At this stage, it might be closer than we thought... We might need to deal with this as quickly as possible."
I stretched my arms over my head and let out a groan, "Ughh... But I guess we have enough information about it, right? We should be able to assemble an assault force to deal with this?"
Olivia nodded, "It is at a perfect time as well, since it isn’t public knowledge that you have laid claim to this island yet." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
I blinked at her, "Why would that matter?"
"At the very least, if there were still spies and traitors here, they would not know that you would be setting up a base here and operate under the assumption that you will only be here for the rift and nothing more. Otherwise... They might try to sabotage or establish some kind of surveillance on the island."
Huh... I never thought of that, actually.
"What about the bunny girls though? Aren’t they going to build the base here? That would give it away, right?"
"You don’t need to worry, my Lord. We only intend to start building after the rift has been cleared. The people coming in would have no idea about our plans until after the rift is cleared."
I guess I should have expected Olivia to already have thought about this and planned for it.
I let out a sigh, "I guess the next time we’re coming back here... We would need to prepare for a really long fight then?"
Olivia nodded, "I will send out a Vanguard assembly request today and have them shipped here tomorrow, my Lord."
It almost sounds like she’s placing an order for delivery or something...
Jia Lian then raised her hand, "Ummm... In that case... Is it possible for us to go back to the mainland today?"
Olivia nodded, "That was the plan. We’ll go back to the mainland today and assemble at the jetty alongside the Vanguards tomorrow to head back here."
Sergei shook his head, "I’m fine with staying here if you don’t mind."
"Of course. Anyone who doesn’t want to go back to the mainland can just stay here. But are you sure? I’m expecting this operation to last at least a week or two."
"I’m sure. There’s nothing for me back there anyway."
"Fair enough. I will call the ferry to come and fetch us."
Ava raised her hand, "There’s no need for that. I can just teleport us all back there."
Oh right... Maybe I can try to teleport myself back home as well? Since I did it once before anyway.
We went back to the chalet and packed our things before we gathered outside in order for Ava to teleport us back to the mainland.
The only people who would be staying here were Sergei and Olivia, the latter needing to check up on the Bunarfs before she headed back to the mainland herself.
I told Ava that I would try to teleport back myself and she told me that she would watch me try it first before she summons her own portal, just in case I needed help.
Thus, everyone was basically gathered around me to watch me try to use my ability to teleport.
Ok... Let’s see now... I already did it once before even though it teleported me to a place that was a little off from where I wanted to go...
Well... I think it’ll be fine... So let’s just try it again.
I sucked in a breath as Ava towered over me, her figure literally shading me from the afternoon sun.
"Hmm... Would you be using Mana or Qi to teleport, my Divine?" She asked.
"Hmm... I believe it should be mana in this case. I don’t think I have refined my body enough to be able to teleport yet."
"In that case, you would want to focus your mana to link the space in front of you and the space you want to go to. I highly suggest using a place that you are intimately familiar with and also has a large open space for now. Otherwise, you might end up teleporting into a wall instead. Once you are more familiar with the feeling, you can try teleporting to smaller spaces."
"Just to check... When you create a portal, do you have a feeling of trying to tear open the space in front of you?"
She tilted her head, "Not at all. It’s more like you are carefully growing two doors out from the ground and linking a tunnel between the two doors before opening them."
Growing out doors from the ground? Err... I’m going to assume that that’s an elf thing which a human like myself would probably not understand...
But well... I at least kind of understand...
I knew my idea of tearing open the space was not the right way to do it...
Alright then... She said a door right? Let me just try and focus my imagination where I create an imaginary door in front of me and an imaginary door at... Hmmm... Where should I even teleport to?
At first, I was thinking about teleporting into my room but I guess that place is too small to be safe...
And if I were to teleport to the lift lobby below my house, there might be people there and it would be kind of awkward if they saw me appearing there as well...
I guess... Maybe the park near my house would do.
I concentrated on picturing the door appearing in front of me and another door appearing in the park before I imagined the two doors connecting to each other.
Nothing happened for a good long minute and I believe I should be doing something wrong.
The last time I did this... I think I was also pouring energy into my imagination too right?
Hmm... Let’s try that again then...
I maintained the image of the doors and the link while trying to pour in what I believe was my mana into that imagination.
Almost immediately, I could feel a stream of energy flowing out from me.
I concentrated and kept the image clear in my head, even as what I believe was my mana was being drained at an accelerated rate.
Ava must have sensed it because she nodded her head sagely, "As expected of my Divine, I can already feel your mana being used to create the portal. Maintain that connection and you should be able to materialise it."
Since I got Ava’s approval, I just continued what I was doing until finally, the space in front of me seemed to shift as a literal door appeared out of thin air.
Like... It was a literal wooden door complete with a door frame...
Everyone stared at the door in silence, right before Ava let out a giggle.
"Ufufufu~ As expected of my Divine~ You literally materialised a door using your mana. I suppose only a God could actually do something like that. Ufufufu~"
Great... I wanted to create a teleportation door to my location damnit... Not create an actual door out of thin air...
I let out a sigh, "I guess I’m not good enough to teleport properly yet."
Ava tilted her head, "What do you mean, my Divine? Did you not succeed?"
"Huh? I just literally created a door. How is that successful?"
"Open it, my Divine."
Wait... She’s not suggesting...
I went ahead to turn the doorknob and pushed the door open.
Instead of seeing what was directly behind the door, I realised that the place it led to was the park I had envisioned.
Oh damn... That’s so cool. If only I had imagined the door to be pink as well...
Ava giggled, "Congratulations, my Divine. It seems like you have a knack for casting spells."
Well... I have you to thank for that I think?
I turned to my Guardians, "Well... I guess I’ll see you guys tomorrow?"
"Take care, my Divine."
"See you tomorrow, Mortal God!"
"Be careful on your way home, my Lord."
"See... See you, Mortal God..."
I gave them a wave before jumping through the door and shutting it behind me.
It stayed there for a few more seconds before it started to fade and disappeared completely.
Oh good, I was afraid that I might have created a permanent teleportation door...
Hefting my bag on my shoulder, I made my way back home.
I considered sending a message to my folks that I was coming back but... Since I was already nearby, I decided that I might as well just announce my arrival when I arrived.
It was a five minute walk back to my place and I took the elevator up to my floor before opening up my door with my keys.
Hmm? The place is eerily silent... I guess everyone went out?
Oh well... Maybe I should just go take a nap first...
I went over to my room and pushed open my door, freezing up when I saw what was inside my room.
There she was... My sister... Sitting on top of my bed...
Wrapped up in my blankets like a cocoon and eating chips while watching shows on her phone!!
LIN HUI ZHEN!!! YOU’RE DROPPING CRUMBS ALL OVER MY BED!!!!
