Chapter 560: Idling Around Along the Way

After traveling through three primal qi passages and passing six qi planets, Wang Sheng and Lishang determined that they still hadn't been exposed. The two relaxed a little.

While heading to the fourth primal qi passage, he forged his fifth Flying Cloud. He also added a bit of Dawnlight to Flying Haze to slightly improve its quality.

From then on, he kept all six of his immortal swords inside his Dao Body, endlessly nourishing them every day. They would become one of Wang Sheng's secret trump cards in future battles.

He had such a massive amount of Dawnlight inside him that it seemed as though he would never run out.

Unlike Ziwei, who only managed to find a small amount, Wang Sheng had swallowed several deep gulps from an entire pool of Dawnlight. The amount that they had gotten couldn't even be compared.

With nothing else to do, Wang Sheng had to drive—ahem, because he had to control the Shadowless Shuttle and watch the surroundings, he could not enter a deep state of meditation like Lishang. He could only nourish his swords while he studied the secrets of a True Immortal's Dao Body.

Remembering that the Chaos Green Lotus was in a pool of Dawnlight, he sent a strand to the small wooden sword drifting around freely inside him. Since the sword was made of the lotus's root, he thought it also fed on Dawnlight.

To his surprise, the sword ignored it completely and even seemed to look down on it. As soon as the Dawnlight approached it, the sword immediately moved away.

Was the Chaos Green Lotus's pool of Dawnlight its waste, not food?

Wang Sheng turned gloomy. He sat in stunned silence for some time. On the other hand, he was simply glad that he hadn't eaten anything in a while.

Nearly a year after they had left Fengmo, they had now gotten past the halfway mark of their long trip. He spent most of it flying the shuttle toward the next passage. The star map made the planets look close to each other, but the actual distance between them was so great that it felt like they were walking until their legs gave out.

Even so, they were already more than halfway into the journey. Wang Sheng felt quite sure that he could return to Fengmo in five years.

Looking hesitant, he turned to Lishang. He wondered if he should warn her now so that she could better handle the truth about her race's fate once they finally arrived.

They had spent over a year alone together. Even though they were usually quiet and only talked about cultivation or forging treasures, they had become closer.

Friendship was hard to define. It was likely the feeling when two people could talk patiently and try to understand each other. Still, they had certainly come to regard each other as friends.

Wang Sheng quickly looked away. Staring at someone for too long was rude.

Objectively speaking, Lishang was actually quite lonely. Although Wang Sheng was physically close to her, he always felt that there was a great distance between them.

Lishang didn't do it on purpose. Though she was also trying to be closer to Wang Sheng, she could only manage to act more natural. She still rarely showed her emotions simply because she had grown up surrounded by beings of other races. She did not face bullying or mean treatment because she was a descendant of Empress Nuwa, who was known as the mother of the human race.

However, she eventually realized that she did not really fit in. After becoming the vice sect master, the people in the sect became even more distant. The cold way she acted was just a way to protect herself.

For some reason, Wang Sheng felt that his senior sister and Lishang would get along quite well.

He only had to wait less than thirty years now.

Smiling, Wang Sheng suddenly felt very energetic and sharp. He even got the strong urge to fly back immediately and defeat the Celestial Wind Sect with one strike. However, he reminded himself that he still wasn't strong enough to keep Mu Wanxuan safe.

Worry returned to his heart.

Lishang opened her eyes. "Why is your Dao Heart so restless?"

Wang Sheng smiled once more. "Actually, I received news earlier that my senior sister will be coming to the thirteen qi stars soon."

"Oh?" Lishang frowned slightly. "Why are you out here traveling with me instead of waiting for her, then?"

"My hometown is actually quite far from the thirteen qi stars, and my senior sister's cultivation isn't that high yet. She's still around twenty to thirty years away, so there's really no rush."

"Your senior sister's cultivation is weak. That is exactly why you should be there to meet her. Don't you realize how dangerous the journey is?"

"The route from my hometown to the thirteen qi stars is extremely safe."

Wang Sheng gave her a simple explanation. Whenever he talked about Mu Wanxuan, his eyes would light up slightly.

"If you ever get the chance to meet her, I'm sure you two would get along well."

"Mm." Lishang nodded lightly, then stared at the starry sky outside, seemingly lost in thought.

Wang Sheng thought she was simply uninterested in the topic.

However, she soon asked, "What kind of woman is she? Can you tell me about her?"

"Of course. My senior sister is..."

Wang Sheng described Mu Wanxuan in great detail. Once he started talking about her, he could not stop.

He remembered their first meeting when he joined the sect. She was still quite thin and weak back then. As childhood friends who started their cultivation journey together, they understood each other better than most people.

He also mentioned how simple-minded his senior sister could be, which made him feel helpless.

Lishang was a bit surprised. Even though she did not talk to many people, she had practiced for tens of thousands of years. She also managed the Xinghai Sect's businesses and often went out to check on its properties. Naturally, she had seen and learned a lot.

She understood how men and women became partners for cultivation when they were still at lower cultivation realms, and her ancestral memories even contained information about the union of yin and yang.

"Elder Pi, do you perhaps not understand these matters very well?"

Wang Sheng could not help but raise a hand to his forehead. "Actually, it's my senior sister who doesn't quite understand these things."

Concerned, Lishang frowned at him. "Then you can just explain it to her. Are you having trouble down there? Or does your Pure Yang Cultivation Mantra prevent you from being with someone?"

"I..."

Wang Sheng had not expected the conversation to head in such a strange direction. He shook his head and briefly explained the situation. Now that he had thought about it, he had been so busy traveling around for so many years that he hadn't actually spent that much time with his senior sister.

Wang Sheng declared with absolute certainty, "Once my senior sister becomes an immortal, we will get married!"

Lishang scolded, "Since you both love each other and no one is stopping you, why do you have to wait?"

Wang Sheng was momentarily at a loss for words. "Well, it was actually my sword spirit's mandate..."

"How is this related to your sword spirit? Wait. You have a sword spirit?"

"Of course." Wang Sheng spread his hands. "As a qualified sword cultivator, if one does not have a sword spirit that can freely show the highest level of the Dao of the Sword, which is the unity of man and sword, then one truly has no dignity to survive in the endless space."

Lishang could not help but roll her eyes and complain, "Spiritual treasures are extremely rare, yet you already have two immortal swords that have grown complete spirits. You're lucky I have no bad intentions. Otherwise... Hmph!"

Wang Sheng smiled in embarrassment. "If you did, I wouldn't have told you all of this."

"That's true."

"I'm actually a pretty good judge of character. Even though our first meeting was in an illusion, I could already tell back then that you were kind and quite similar to my senior sister."

"Oh? What makes you think so?"

Wang Sheng thought for a moment and then muttered, "Well, you two are very easy to trick."

Lishang's eyes widened as she moved to hit him. Laughing nervously, Wang Sheng quickly put on his upgraded armor and leaned against the cabin wall.

"You weren't trapped in my illusion back then?"

Wang Sheng smiled. "Of course not. Have you still not realized it yet? Since I have already trained my sword heart and have the Heavenly Ziwei Sword Intent protecting me, how could a simple illusion disturb my mind?"

Lishang's expression darkened immediately.

With a serious expression, he cupped his hands and extended a formal salute to her. "At the time, the Celestial Wind Sect had been hunting me, and I was only a Primordial Immortal. While I was looking for a place to hide and escape, the Xinghai Sect opened recruitment. That's why I used a fake name and hid my past. However, within the illusion, I did not tell a single lie except for my name.

"Otherwise, you would have definitely noticed that something was wrong."

Lishang slowly nodded, her expression finally softening a bit. "Very well. Your entry into the Xinghai Sect can be seen as fate. Still, my illusion techniques are a special power from my bloodline. They shouldn't be broken so easily..."

"Illusion techniques are actually not very reliable."

Why do you think the Xinghai Sect has so many traitors?

He wisely decided not to say the second half of his thought. Instead, he said, "A person's heart differs from one to another. A high cultivation realm does not always mean a strong state of mind."

Lishang looked to be in thought. Soon, she sighed lightly and began discussing the Dao of illusion techniques with him.

Just as he had said, she truly was very easy to fool.

In a courtyard in Xinghai City, Shi Qianzhang sat in a rocking chair under the shade of a tree, holding a jug of wine. He was bored out of his mind.

"Brother Sheng has been gone for almost a year. Why am I always worried about him?"

Huai Jing and Liu Yunzhi, who were playing a game of Chinese chess nearby, paid him no attention.

Shi Qianzhang leaned over and whispered, "Could Empress Nuwa's descendant have actually run off with Brother Sheng?"

A little annoyed, Liu Yunzhi replied, "Relax. You know Fei Yu wouldn't do that. We're all cultivators, so why do you always look at men and women with such old-fashioned ideas?

"What's so different between them anyway? What difference is there between cultivators of opposite genders being alone together and a male cultivator being alone with another male cultivator? I have always felt that Fei Yu divides female cultivators into three categories."

Huai Jing smiled. "Oh? Tell me all about it. Check!"

"Senior Sister, relatives and friends, and everyone else. I move my elephant[1]."

Shi Qianzhang shook his head. "Tsk. Little Liu, you have worn women's clothes too many times. You don't even understand men anymore."

A trace of anger tainted Liu Yunzhi's handsome face. He growled, "Get lost!"

If anyone mentioned his cross-dressing again, he would stop being their friend.

Flexing his thin arms, Shi Qianzhang added, "Men all have a desire to conquer and be the 'alpha male.'"

Huai Jing said, "Amitabha. We're all grown men here. Why are we talking about men instead of women? Mm. I move my cannon[2] forward three points."

Too lazy to deal with Shi Qianzhang, Liu Yunzhi focused on the chessboard.

The top disciple of the Longhu Mountains yawned and smiled. "By the way, should we move to a larger courtyard? It seems Fei Yu doesn't want us to get mixed up in the Xinghai Sect's problems."

Liu Yunzhi said, "There is actually no need to use the Xinghai Sect as a cover. Earth just has to send out a group of cultivators; a few hundred will be enough. We can split them into different qi planets and have them cultivate there. In a thousand years, even if we expect some people to get lost, many of them will definitely become immortals."

Huai Jing smiled helplessly. "That is exactly why a Special Warfare Unit instructor has joined the group heading to the endless space. However, Fei Yu is already focused on bringing all of Earth's cultivators into the endless space by himself. He'd probably be completely against splitting everyone up as unaffiliated practitioners because it would lead to pointless deaths."

Liu Yunzhi seriously countered, "But if our cultivation world wants to grow in the future, conflict with other immortal forces is unavoidable. Where there is conflict, there will be blood. There are countless experts out here. If Fei Yu doesn't change his mind, something bad is bound to happen."

In a serious tone, Shi Qianzhang said, "I doubt it."

It was so rare for him to sound serious that Liu Yunzhi and Huai Jing turned and looked at him in surprise, finding him resting his head on his arm. With a leaf between his teeth, he stared up at the tree above him.

"Why not?" Liu Yunzhi asked.

"Because Brother Sheng is amazing. Just believe in him, and you will become an immortal!"

Liu Yunzhi and Huai Jing looked at each other and then attacked him with a flash.
