Chapter 102: Chapter 25 The Secret Rumors of the Deity_2
"Enough already, no talking to me with your mouth full." Lina covered her face, pretending not to know him.
"Seriously, I just wanted you to get some drinks for me." Pannis grumbled with a complaint, "She even pretends not to know me, angry women indeed are the most unreasonable beings in the world."
"Isn’t that right?" Pannis turned and asked the girl standing next to him. The girl, with her light blue hair and black dress, looked at him with a laughing face.

"This clam stew is nice, and those crab meatballs, maybe get some more of each. I bet that guy would like them, too." Lina bought two dishes from a stall from the Sea Country, holding them in her hand. She jumped when she turned around, almost dropping the food to the ground.
Out of nowhere, a girl with light blue hair and a white dress stood behind her, tilting her head and staring curiously at her. At the girl’s feet, a big dog was lazily digging the ground. The dog’s expression, oddly, resembled human boredom.
"I’ve seen you." The two girls looked at each other. Lina suddenly came to a realization, "We met this morning, you’re one of the twins with a dog."
"With, with, with a dog?" The girl blinked blankly, then burst into laughter, kicking the big dog at her feet, "That’s right, I’m one of the twins with a dog." freёweɓnovel.com
"Did I say something wrong?" Lina was puzzled by the girl’s reaction.
"Not at all, not at all, you’re absolutely right." After finally controlling her laughter, the girl’s dog growled threateningly and, decisively, turned around, flicking its tail at Lina, completely ignoring her.
"That’s strange." Lina mumbled in confusion before asking, "So, little girl, were you looking for me?"
"Yes." The little girl examined Lina with her hands behind her back, "I wanted to see you."
More confused than before, Lina asked, "Do we know each other?"
"No, no, no, you don’t know me." The little girl shook her head, "But I know you, Lina. Yes, Helena Ryan, you’ve always been one of the reserved Archbishops of The Church of the Earth Goddess since childhood. When you turned eight that year..."
"Don’t talk about that!" Lina suddenly shouted in a fluster.
"I’m sorry, I apologize." The little girl was taken aback and bowed her head in apology, "I just wanted to say, I really do know you."
"Why were you investigating me?" Lina asked in irritation.
"Investigate you? No, I didn’t." The little girl waved her finger, "Investigating someone for no reason is rude, and I wouldn’t do such a thing. But I do have my sources, and now it seems, the information is reliable."
"Who are you, really?" Lina slowly crouched down and put the dish on the ground, "What is your real purpose?"
"I’ve already told you." The little girl’s innocent smile returned to her face, "I’m just here to see you."
Lina’s right hand secretly touched the handle of her hammer, her gaze fixed on the little girl, "Are you joking?"
"No joke." The little girl spread her hands in front of her, "No need to be so vigilant, I bear no ill intentions, you can be at ease. I actually have no purpose, the two of us just do things based on our mood, doing what comes to mind. If I want to see you, I will come see you."
"Alright, you see me now." Seeing that the little girl was unarmed, Lina felt a little relieved yet still on guard, she asked, "Do you have any questions?"
"No questions." The little girl smiled, "You are quite impressive, much better than I imagined. Whether in terms of power or character, you’re better than I thought. Let me see, hmm, Middle Gold Rank, so young and already at Middle Gold Rank, you have great potential. A priest? No, you... should be a Sage, right?"
"You figured it out?" Lina forgot to be on guard in her surprise. "You can tell that? How did you know?"
"That’s a secret." The little girl smiled mysteriously, then suddenly lowered her voice, "I suddenly want to tell you something, do you want to hear it?"
"What is it?" Lina’s curiosity was always strong, and she couldn’t restrain it even when facing this strange little girl.
"Secrets of the priesthood." The little girl hushed her voice, "Do you know, in the priests who are still alive, how many have achieved the rank of Legendary?"
"Nine." Lina answered.
"Yes, indeed. Do you think that’s few?" the girl asked.
Lina nodded: "It is indeed few compared to other professions. Maybe it’s because everyone has put their main energy into their belief in the deity."
"You can say that." The little girl giggled, "But of these nine legendary priests, six came from the Sage background. The other three, without exception, were directly catalyzed by the power bestowed by the deities. You must know, since Yarra established the Divine Barrier at the beginning of the Fourth Epoch, not only can deities not descend into the Yarran World, even directly elevating the strength of their followers requires a great cost, a cost so immense it would even cause the most powerful deity to hesitate; almost no deity is willing to do this. So, the opportunities of those three legendary priests are irreplicable. So now, only a Sage can achieve the rank of Legendary. Do you know why?"
Lina nodded: "I understand what you mean. The archbishops and priests are so engrossed in their divine duty at the temple, they seldom have the opportunity for long-term travel and frequent battles, but the latter are indispensable for promoting oneself to Legendary. So, the archbishops and priests do not have the opportunity to become Legendary."
"It’s not that they don’t have the opportunity, just that it’s much more difficult." The little girl arrogantly raised her feet to lightly pat Lina’s shoulders: "So, you have hope. Maybe you will be the next Legendary Priest. You can do it, young lady. However, these are not the key points. The crucial thing is that to become Legendary, you must truly believe in all parts of the deity."
Lina frowned: "Are you questioning the authenticity and devotion of my faith?"
"You didn’t understand, it’s believing in the deity’s ’all’" The little girl emphasized.
"I don’t understand." Lina said blankly: "What do you mean by ’all’?"
"Let me put it this way, for priests of single-deity divine duty, the power of the deity may be weak, but it’s easier for their priests to become Legendary. As for those priests of complex divine duty, although their deity may be powerful, it’s more difficult for them to advance. As for the reasons? Hehe." The little girl laughed disdainfully, her tone filed with mockery and contempt: "Even though people keep saying that the God of Light, Lord Varunshen, is also the Dark God Xis, who would believe it? Even if everyone believed, which devout follower would actually believe? They would definitely receive a response from the deity if they sincerely accept and pray, yet no one dares to do that. They can’t even figure out the deity’s real divine duty, how can they talk about devout faith and advancing to Legendary?"
"The God of Light is also the Dark God?" Lina found herself unable to close her mouth: "Why is that?"
"Think about it yourself, young lady." The little girl winked playfully.
Lina bit her lip lightly, looking down in thought for a moment. As she looked up to speak, she froze. The little girl and the Big Dog beside her foot had vanished from her sight within seconds. All around her were people coming and going, as though everything that had just happened was an illusion. Not far away, a little girl in a black dress rose from Pannis’s table and walked away quietly.
"Who was that?" Lina looked somewhat confounded at the back of the girl in black.
"I don’t know, she just came to chat." Pannis answered: "I told her it was because I’m too charming."
"Shameless."
