Chapter 51: TAMING THE BEAST

The first thing Khaos saw upon reaching this dirty cell was a bloody scene: the black beast had unleashed hell upon two dead bodies of the guards.

He knew who the black beast was and sensing his arrival, the beast stopped tearing the guards' flesh apart. There was nothing left of them right now. Their limbs had been discarded, their flesh had been mangled, no one could recognize them anymore.

"Zuri."

The name rolled off his lips calmly and this attracted the beast's attention. The beast's black eyes stared at Khaos, baring her teeth, a deep growl rumbled in its chest.

"Come here," Khaos said, there was no trace of fear, his expression didn't even change, as if the fact that Zuri had killed the two guards brutally, something that she shouldn't have been capable of, didn't bother him at all. "Come here." He extended his hand to call her to him.

For a moment, the beast stared at his extended hand, but in the end, she moved slowly toward the alpha and when Khaos' hand touched her head, she let out a satisfying growl, closing her eyes to savor his touch.

"Shift."

Zuri did what she was told and then shifted back into her human form. She sat on the dirty floor, her hair a mess and blood splattered on her already dirty white dress. One couldn't even tell that the dress' original color had been white.

"They wanted to touch me, so I killed them," Zuri explained. She watched as Khaos knelt down and picked her up.

"Good job." He patted her head and her body visibly relaxed immediately. He had expected that was what happened, but what surprised him was the fact that Zuri managed to take down two guards on her own.

There were only two explanations as to how she could do that; first, she had received training to fight, or her killing instinct was simply too strong. Khaos inclined toward the second explanation.

Some shifters were born with a natural killing instinct, making them dangerous in a fight even without training. If those shifters received training, they would become truly lethal.

He knew Zuri had this exceptional killing instinct, he had seen it in her eyes. He realized that because he was also born with the same 'gift'.

Currently, the dangerous beast wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. She looked very docile for someone who had just killed two grown shifters with brutal fighting skills. The scene that she left behind would leave even a tough warrior sick to their stomach.

"I didn't allow them to touch me," Zuri said sleepily, she rested her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes.

"You have done a good job."

"I killed them very quickly. They begged for mercy, but I didn't show them any."

Zuri couldn't help it, she wanted to hear him praise herself more. She thirsted for that recognition. Someone was proud of her, telling her that she had done a good job, instead of telling her that she had gone crazy.

"They deserved that."

Zuri wanted to talk more, tell him how she tore them apart limb by limb, because she wanted Khaos to praise her more. The voices in her head agreed with her for the first time; they too liked the way Khaos praised her, but she was too tired and sleepy.

And the last thing she remembered was the warm sunlight that hit her face. The sky had turned red, just like the blood that she drew from the two guards, but this time, it looked so beautiful instead of messy.

Zuri didn't even ask where Khaos would take her, because in her mind, as long as she was with him, she didn't mind being anywhere.

And with that thought, she fell asleep, breathing in his unique scent. One wouldn't be able to smell his scent, unless they were this close to him. Zuri made a mental note to ask him about it when she woke up, but she completely forgot about it when she woke up to this wet and rough sensation on her skin.

Zuri immediately opened her eyes to find her white wolf cub curled next to her head, licking her cheek.

"Hm...?" She giggled because she didn't expect to see her wolf cub again. As she stretched her body, the memories from the previous night came flooding back to her mind. She remembered what had happened. Now, she was in this comfortable bed with her white cub by her side; it seemed she had won this bet.

Khaos came for her.

"Oh, you are awake!"

Zuri was startled when an old woman around the age of fifty entered the room with a basin of water and a clean towel. She was going to help her clean herself.

"Come, I will clean you up, after that I will bring you food. You must be very hungry," she said cheerfully.

This old woman was too cheerful for her liking. She wasn't used to being treated this way. Sarah and Esther only treated her better after she put them through hell and ensured their loyalty to her.

She sat down. "Where is Alpha Khaos?" Zuri asked, her throat hurt when she spoke and the old woman noticed that. She went to pour a glass of water for her and then continued to wipe her body, while Zuri drank her water.

"The Alpha is currently in the palace, he has to handle a lot of things. You are in the Gray Wolf pack. Don't worry, you are safe here, but I couldn't tell the same about your mate, your father and mother. They will be executed tomorrow."

Somehow, Zuri didn't feel as sad as she thought. It was almost like she had heard about the death of a distant relative, someone that was not close to her, but pitiful enough to warrant frёewebηovel.cѳm

her condolences.

"When will he return?"

"He will probably return around evening."

And Zuri didn't sleep that night to wait for him.
