After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 538 - 212: The Despair of Difference - Part 2
"With Lord Ahtar’s protection, there’s no need for you to stay behind to protect the Pestilence Witch, right?" she raised the question.
Upon hearing this, the Goddess of Plague sighed lightly and gazed at Ahtar beside her, saying:
"It seems that King of Ash does not intend to protect the Pestilence Witch, so I can only protect her myself."
Shark Girl Kaschte showed a skeptical expression, "Is that so?"
"If you don’t believe me, ask Ahtar." The Goddess of Plague’s gaze fell on Ahtar, explaining so much just to prevent Letixia from misunderstanding. The reason she lived with Ahtar was not because she had a profound relationship with him, but mainly for the safety of the Pestilence Witch.
"Indeed," Xi Mu admitted calmly, "I have no reason to protect the Pestilence Witch. If she is captured by the Avatar Witch, then it can only mean that it’s an inevitability of this era’s development, an attempt made by past heroes to defeat me."
His voice was excessively calm.
"I won’t stop past heroes from growing, even if the means they use are not very honorable."
The atmosphere became slightly tense.
Such indifferent words were different from the heroic persona Ahtar had shown in the past, imbued with a cold, rational sentiment.
The Goddess of Plague shared her inner thoughts, "Now, you look at problems more like the God of Omniscience."
She turned her head towards the window where a light rain was falling.
"The perspective is not that of a specific individual, but of the survival of a world, and the continuation of a race. No matter how much humans fight and struggle amongst themselves, as long as they achieve the corresponding goals, the final outcome will be... good."
Xi Mu said calmly, "If I interfere too much, if I don’t allow any tragedies to occur, then what difference does humanity... no, this world have with puppets in my hands? Ultimately, the choice of what to do lies with the creatures of this world."
"In some ways, you are more like a god now than I am," the Goddess of Plague commented, but there was no accusation implied in her words. She understood Ahtar’s choices, realizing that after Ahtar took the position of the King of Ash, a certain transformation of thought was inevitable, as he began to view the world from that position.
Letixia, who was listening on the side, also finally noticed... something abnormal. It was a despairing discrepancy. She and Ahtar were fast reaching a point where they could hardly understand each other. Choices that seemed cold and cruel to ordinary people might, in Ahtar’s view, be kindness and respect. This was due to the difference in status and power between the two.
If it weren’t for the conversation between the Goddess of Plague and Ahtar, she probably wouldn’t have been able to quickly understand the change in Ahtar now.
God loves mankind, but not specific... individuals. Maybe what God loves is the human race as a whole, hoping that the human race will keep moving forward. As for the wars and disasters that occur in the process, perhaps from God’s perspective... 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
They are no different from the fatigue humans feel after training.
"Since Lord Ahtar is stronger, it’s natural that he resembles a god more than you do," Shark Girl Kaschte stated matter-of-factly. She saw no issue with Ahtar’s choice, because Ahtar had no obligation to do otherwise.
Now, Ahtar giving everyone a chance was already a nearly saint-like mindset.
Otherwise, the choice that would be more in line with self-interest would be to simply crush everyone outright.
"Now, Ahtar even has followers," the Goddess of Plague said with a light smile, looking into Ahtar’s eyes as if to inquire, "Are you going to release those captured followers of the Dusk Cult?"
During her battle with the Avatar Witch, she had captured the followers of the Dusk Cult who had broken into the duel arena, and they were now imprisoned in the dungeon of Lionheart Castle.
Xi Mu thought for a moment and said, "There’s an interesting little fellow among them, so let them be released."
"Just make sure they don’t continue slaughtering the innocents," the Goddess of Plague said while sending instructions to her followers to release the Dusk cultists without putting them to death directly.
Upon hearing this, Xi Mu shook his head, "If they slaughter innocents, then it’s only natural for them to be killed."
The Goddess of Plague added, "Now you’re the object of their faith."
"Whether they believe or not is irrelevant to me," Xi Mu replied coldly. He wasn’t much concerned with faith, unless suddenly someone caught up to his footsteps, someone with an extremely firm belief in him, which might then warrant his attention.

Lionheart Castle.
Dungeon.
The heavy iron door slowly opened. Light flooded in like a tide, washing over the dark room, revealing the old walls buried in darkness, and a dwarven loli lying on the ground, soundly asleep.
The guard entered the room and knocked on the ground with a spear. The sound awoke the dwarven loli.
"Get out."
"Get out?" The dwarf loli rubbed her eyes and asked the wary guard, "Did your brain break?"
"It’s an order from above." The guard explained, "I heard it’s because there was a hostage exchange."
The dwarf loli showed a look of realization and then saw the guard throw a set of keys that landed beside her.
The guard took a defensive stance.
"Unlock the handcuffs yourself and then leave the dungeon quietly and calmly."
"Right, right." The dwarf loli didn’t refuse, picked up the keys, unlocked the handcuffs, and walked out of the cell calmly.
However, as she brushed past the guard in an instant.
"Awoo!" She made a scary pose, mimicking the sound of a tiger, causing the nervous guard to retreat a few steps. Then, before he could react, she hurriedly ran out of the cell.

After leaving the dungeon.
The dwarf loli arrived at an inn and saw Heracles, who was sitting at the inn’s entrance on the steps, with his hands resting on his knees.
"Collecting Splitting Demon soul fragments?" The dwarf loli asked in a baffled tone, "What’s the point in reviving him?"
This world was already teeming with demons; you could encounter them in just about any country. Although their numbers were fewer than gods, they were not exactly rare. Now the Splitting Demon was not of much use.
Heracles took out a cigarette from nowhere, his fingers lightly rubbed it, and sparked a flame to light it. He put the lit cigarette in his mouth and took a deep inhale, his powerful lung capacity pulling the whole cigarette down in one go, then he exhaled a long and leisurely stream of smoke.
The dwarf loli stepped back a few paces, pinching her nose, and frowned as she watched Heracles exhale the long stream of smoke, waiting for him to explain the reason.
"It’s the order of the saintess of the Dusk Cult." Heracles looked odd as he spoke, "I heard the Splitting Demon was known as the strongest weapon, even managed to kill the God of Omniscience once. We need to revive the Splitting Demon and then..."
The dwarf loli realized, "Then turn him into a weapon."
"Whether he’s to be turned into a weapon is unclear." Heracles waved his hand, leisurely stood up, "But the saintess of the Dusk Cult places great importance on the revival of the Splitting Demon; it seems she plans to use him for some scheme."
"Any clues then?" The dwarf loli nodded, she couldn’t be bothered to think deeply about what the upper echelons were planning, she just had to execute the orders.
But at this, Heracles shook his head: "Those who know the future are not just the saintess of the Dusk Cult; now many people are collecting fragments of the Splitting Demon’s soul, and currently, nobody knows who has those soul fragments."
The dwarf loli’s expression fell: "So it means we have to search slowly... right?"
Heracles nodded, then rubbed the dwarf loli’s head, muttered a word of encouragement, and left.

Fenrir Kingdom.
Underground.
The Splitting Demon’s half-buried body, resembling a stone statue, asked the Saintess of Destiny, who held a fragment of his soul:
"Hah, I killed the God of Omniscience?"
"More precisely, it was you, transformed into a longsword, that killed the God of Omniscience." Suna explained seriously, "You... are very special."
The Splitting Demon spoke with incredulity, "So you’ve come to revive me?"
"Not here to revive you." Suna turned to look at the dwarf master beside her, "We came to take your body away, and then forge it into a weapon."
Splitting Demon: "..."
