Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes-Chapter 139: Big Breakthrough
Chapter 139: Big Breakthrough
The High Elven Palace was evacuated outright. Every building around the palace and for miles around the massive world tree had been evacuated, and half of the capital of the elven kingdom had officially been sent to the very edge of the capital.
By the time Thalia and the rest of the royal family returned to the palace with the news, Cain was already investigating.
He had literally spread his mana throughout the palace, searching for any source of dark magic, even a trace of mana at the micro level.
The mana of death was incredibly suffocating. Even Atlas was crumbling under the pressure and trying to survive using his aura abilities.
Even though he was spreading Cain’s mana, even though he was doing it at the lowest level holistically, the fact that Atlas was suffocating from lack of air seemed to be enough to explain why the Sages were so feared beings.
Although Cain’s mana had begun to pass through the surroundings and he had ripped through the palace walls, checking every micro-particle, nothing had been found.
To put it bluntly, either the piece of portal Atlas had in mind was not black magic that left the palace, or the portal had not yet been set up in the present.
Or...Cain’s spell simply didn’t work. The existence of this possibility was even stranger since it was probably impossible for a Sage’s magic not to work.
Still, the likelihood of that was far, far less likely than if the portal hadn’t been built yet.
That’s why Atlas felt like he had to take matters into his own hands. He didn’t even know where the gate opened. The only thing he knew was that the portal opened on the world tree.
The world tree was huge. It really was huge. Atlas didn’t even know how many words were needed to describe its size.
It was literally the biggest thing in the world. It reached up to the heavens and even to the bottom of space according to some rumours...Although these rumours were of course not really true. It was just a tree that managed to grow incredibly tall with life and surpassed the clouds.
Its roots covered the magma at the centre of the earth and managed to keep the life energy of the earth’s core constant without burning.
It was life itself.
"Master Cain, everything is complete. Do you have anything to ask of us?" Queen Thalia suddenly questioned.
Cain opened his eyes when he heard this question, and after looking at Thalia with calm eyes, he turned to Atlas and watched him with curious eyes.
After Atlas realised what was happening, he said, "Lady Thalia. Neither I nor Mr Cain have any knowledge of the World Tree. We would like you to guide us if you wish."
Thalia looked with great curiosity at Atlas and then at Cain, who had returned to casting his spell, and when she saw that Cain did not object, she replied, "I would be honoured."
The rest of the royal family immediately left the high elven palace and then quickly travelled to one of the outskirts of the capital.
Thalia and Atlas waited for Cain’s spell to end, and after a short time, it did.
Cain looked at Atlas with great disappointment and shook his head from side to side.
"I didn’t find anything, but the World Tree blocked my spell, so I couldn’t see what was happening through the tree," Cain said suddenly.
"The aura or the spell itself cannot harm the World Tree, sir, so it is impossible for it to be enchanted. I mean, maybe Lady Cordelia can do it, but as you know, the scope of her magic is enormous, sir."
Atlas paused for a few seconds when he heard those words. When Cain and Thalia saw his strange expression, they looked at each other and tried to understand what was going on.
Atlas, on the other hand, was not able to understand what was going on.
Because he had seen that passage in his previous life. He didn’t remember exactly where it was, so he didn’t know where it was, but he remembered seeing the huge passage that was even tiny on the huge World Tree.
"Do you know how the sapling of the World Tree was planted, Lady Thalia?" Atlas suddenly asked. There was something she needed to learn.
When Atlas asked this question, Thalia tried to understand why she was being asked this question, but she gave her answer anyway:
"According to legend, the sapling itself was a gift to the first Elven Queen, my ancestor, from the goddess Gaia. Thanks to this sapling and its extract, my ancestor gained immortality and continued to cultivate the sapling until he reached the end of his life [Eternal Sleep]."
When Thalia finished, Atlas scratched his head and then said, "Lady Gaia, is there any information you can give me, a clue?" he muttered.
Cain, even more, puzzled than Thalia, looked at Atlas and questioned, "We’re not in a temple, Atlas, how are you planning to get an answer?"
Atlas replied, "I have a gift to see them, thanks to Lady Nyx," and then looked at the instant message from Gaia:
[What you seek may not be superficial magic, young Atlas. After all, as the young Elf girl said, any spell or aura attack or effect cannot be applied to the surface of the tree].
Atlas frowned after reading the message and then questioned himself for a few seconds, "Huh..."
Immediately after that, he turned his gaze to Cain and then questioned, "Mr Cain, can you check if there is an alignment around the World Tree?"
Cain’s eyes widened slightly at her words. This look may have been the most alive Cain had looked all day. The ancient man smiled and then said, "Well done, Atlas." freeweɓnovel.cøm
As he said these words, the magic he was spreading around and the runes formed by the magic began to change one by one. When this happened, there was a serious presence of black magic crumbs around, and this black magic began to move like a line through the palace.
"Watch and learn carefully, keep these runes in mind, try to understand and remember the flow of magic, Atlas," said Cain.
Atlas had already taken a rune lesson from Selene herself. He already had a superior level of knowledge about runes, and now he had something to elevate everything to a higher quality state.
The runes he had seen with his eyes were top-notch. Perhaps they could even be seen as the equivalent of the runes Constantine had made. The runes could show the linear gathering of dark magic as the mana of death spread around.
Cain’s magic was so strong, determined and stable that it was as if the black magic itself was trying to escape.
At that moment, Cain began to follow the source of the black magic with slow steps.
After a short time, the trio left the palace and started walking on the streets united with nature. After almost an hour and twenty minutes, the black magic seemed to be divided into two parts. One of them was pointing to a house and the other was heading towards the World Tree.
At first, the trio spied on the house and when they realised that no one was inside, they went through the house.
There were no serious traces of angel worshippers in the house, which was enough to tell them that the owners could not be criminals. This house seemed to be used only as a pole.
"Hah! Very clever," said Cain, and then he extended his palm to his right and let his mana out again. After a short time, a wide passage appeared and the other side of the passage became visible.
Six Sages, who appeared to be sitting on the other side, looked towards them.
"Constantine, I’ve found something you’ll like, come here quickly," Cain said suddenly.
Constantine stood up with a big smile and then, with Cordelia’s permission, walked through the portal. Suddenly the portal disappeared and Constantine, the fourth Sage, Sage of Illusions, stepped into the lands of the High Elven Kingdom of Bijoux.
Thalia immediately bowed to him in respect and said, "It is an honour to see you again, Master Constantine."
"Ah, Thalia! Haven’t seen you since the semester exams, have we? Likewise, it’s good to see you too." Constantine said and then questioned, "What happened, brother?" as Cain grabbed his arm.
Cain immediately pointed to the house and replied, "Look, this is beneath your professionalism."
Constantine looked around the house for a few seconds after looking carefully towards the house and then said, "Haha...No way!" as if he had found something.
Then he extended his palm towards the house and covered the house with his magic. At that moment, it became clear what was going on.
"A quality suction spell, I think you found out what happened," Constantine said. He left behind only a curious Atlas and Thalia.
