Chapter 32: Part 32

The soldiers were taking Tom with Jac to a place deep in the forest. Tom realized that if they wanted to do anything to him now, he was utterly helpless, but there was nothing he could do.

After about ten minutes they came to a cave. In front of the cave was a guard team of about ten people. Tom guessed from their auras that they were level B. One of them might even be level A.

Jac approached the leader of the group and saluted:

"I’d like to authorize my once-a-year access to the Lake of Pain," he said.

Thomus looked at Jac and asked:

"Who do you want to let in?"

Jac pointed to Tom.

Thomus was startled and said:

"Are you crazy? This boy is almost dead. There’s no way he’ll survive if he goes in the lake like that."

Jac shrugged:

"That’s what I said, but it’s his own decision. It’s sad that such a genius should die, but I can only keep my promise."

Thomus nodded and let them in. The soldiers carried Tom into the cave. After about a hundred meters they saw a red lake. Hot water bubbles were bursting out of the lake.

Tom asked the soldiers to lower him to the ground. The soldiers put him down slowly. Tom’s body was in pain; it was difficult for him to even move. He opened his bag and took out 12 potions. He had used eight of them in the past days and only these 12 potions were left.

Seeing Tom pouring all the potions into one bottle, Jac realized what he wanted to do and shouted:

"Are you stupid? You have less than one percent chance of getting out of here alive. And you’re trying to consume 12 basic potions at the same time! This could cause your body to explode. Moreover, the pain you will experience is enough to kill you. If you just want a glorious death, do it some other way. Don’t waste my time!"

Tom said it was his decision. He poured the potions into the bottle and poured it over his head. As hellish pain coursed through his body, he asked the soldiers to throw him into the lake. The soldiers looked at him in despair. They knew that what they were about to do was like throwing someone into a bottomless abyss.

They threw Tom into the Lake of Sorrows. He began to scream; his body was constantly being damaged, both outside and inside. His legendary body’s adaptive abilities tried to adjust, but it was not enough. But Tom’s body, despite being constantly torn apart and rebuilt, managed to endure.

Tom’s resilience was not only due to his regeneration abilities. A potion he used contributed greatly to this process:

Resilience Potion: It makes the body flexible for a short period of time. Flexibility movements during this time make the muscles more resilient. However, as a side effect, the body quickly becomes accustomed to this potion and its effect disappears after 1-3 uses.

Tom’s muscles, bones and organs were constantly being rebuilt. After each destruction, they were rebuilt stronger. Under the potion’s influence, the muscles could last longer with each regeneration. This prevented his body from overloading and exploding. However, this method had never been thought of before, as no one was crazy enough to use the base potion and the Lake of Pain at the same time.

Jac and the soldiers were amazed that Tom lasted more than 10 seconds in the lake. Tom was fighting for survival with all the will in his mind. The intensity of the pain forced him to mentally focus entirely on survival and strength.

Tom’s condition caused the Universe to send him a test: The Pain Test. This test was usually only offered to beings of level D+. However, Tom was drawn to this test even though he was at level F. The intensity of the test was low because the Universe seemed to realize that such a thing was not possible.

As Tom’s mind and body fought against the test, he found himself in an arena. Before him stood a reflection of himself, but this person was different from Tom. He had red hair and the aura of a Tyrant.

Tom had Tom’s gun in his hand dark moon started running towards Tom and swung his katana Tom blocked the attack and took 5 steps back.

Dark Moon, wielding Tom’s weapon, started running towards Tom and swung her katana. Tom blocks the attack and takes five steps back.

"Welcome, main personality. You have no idea how long I have waited for this moment. Just as my time was finally beginning, I was suppressed! You are in control, even though I am better, more perfect than you. But today that will change," said Dark Tom.

Tom understood what this person meant by "main personality". He realized that he was schizophrenic and that the being in front of him was his alter ego. But he didn’t understand the "repression" part. Who had repressed him?

Tom dodged Dark Tom’s attack and counterattacked. He used the "Dark Attack" and "Combined Attack" techniques. But Dark Tom blocked Tom’s moves using the same attacks.

The two were constantly clashing. Every corner of the arena was filled with traces of this conflict. Tom realized that Dark Tom was stronger than him. He realized that this was a test of the system.

During the constant back and forth, they began to use their time bending abilities. Dark Tom focused on the attack. Tom used his ability to slow down time to control his surroundings, while Dark Tom took advantage by speeding up time around him.

Tom’s ability to slow time was partially neutralized by Dark Tom. The fact that Dark Tom was stronger made this advantage more pronounced.

Tom was pushed back as he fought. Dark Tom was constantly using his abilities in different ways and with variations that Tom had never thought of. This put Tom in an increasingly desperate situation.

Tom’s mind was scrambling in search of a solution, but he could think of no way out of his predicament.

"Hahahaha! That’s it! Just die and give me control, you useless piece of garbage! You wasted sixteen years like a piece of garbage and condemned me to this boring life. We could have had a much more fun life! But no, because you’re an emotionless, aimless idiot! If I had been in control from the beginning, everything would have been different. I’m you, but that’s how different we are! The universe played a stupid game and gave you the mother soul. It condemned me to nothingness, took away my destiny! But now I’ve been given a chance. The universe has finally decided to be fair. Now you will be the one watching from behind and I will be the main being!" said Dark Tom.

Tom grumbled at Dark Tom’s stupidity. He didn’t know what the test was, but he knew that if he lost he would surely die. If he died, what body was this fool thinking of taking over?

Just then a lightning bolt flashed through Tom’s mind. "You are me and I am you. That’s it!" Tom had finally found a solution. And the solution was incredibly simple.
