(BL)Alpha Made-Chapter 242: Hey, what’s a personal Doctor for?
Chapter 242: Hey, what’s a personal Doctor for?
Andrew was tired. Physically, he had pushed himself to his limits. It was a good feeling, this exhaustion, but there was apparently another engine inside of him that had only formed after he had become an alpha.
He hadn’t been able to scratch the itch that he wanted.
It was hard to grapple with that, but now that he had tired himself out physically, at least he would be too exhausted in that regard to do anything. He showered at the gym, cleaning himself off of all the grime before checked his phone.
He had only checked Michael’s other text after he had arrived at the gym. He had been too emotional to check it before, but once he had, it was clear that Michael was having the same thoughts that Maxwell was having.
Michael had listed a bunch of things and asked if Andrew was experiencing any or all of them. Andrew, before working out, told him yes, Maxwell had suggested his rut might be coming up, and he was going to be temporarily unavailable as he was at the gym attempting to work out these feelings he had.
Now that he was washed, exhausted, and about to head home, he checked his phone. Michael had asked him to call him when he was done, Maxwell was asking if he was still at the gym. He was back at home after finishing up his work and that there was a surprise waiting for him at home. Not a sexy surprise.
Andrew appreciated the clarification since his brain was just on a rotation of sexy Maxwell clips, even when he was trying his best.
It was hard. Maxwell had a good scrapbook of snapshots. He was sexy as sin.
Andrew responded back to Maxwell, letting him know that he was done with his workout, and on his way home and that he was going to be on the phone with Michael. He felt it was safe to cover all of his bases, since even though Maxwell had mellowed out over the week, if he wasn’t able to contact him and he didn’t know the reason?
Andrew just didn’t want to risk it. Andrew waited in the locker area until Maxwell responded back to him, which was seconds later.
Okay. Sounds good. Let me know what he says. I’ll see you when you get home.
His duties to his cute and sexy boyfriend done, Andrew called Michael, raising the phone to his ear as he headed out of the locker room.
"All done pumping iron instead of pumping inside of your partner?" Who the hell opened a phone conversation like that? Andrew’s mood shifted immediately.
"Michael." He warned and Michael’s laughter was loud on the other side of the phone.
"Alright. That was a little far, I apologise. I just really wanted to say it at least once." Michael relented, even as he soured Andrew’s somewhat good mood.
"It’s not funny. I feel like a damn monster for the feelings I have inside of me." Andrew said tartly, his expression flat as he headed out of the gym. Everyone gave him a wide berth, and that only made Andrew feel even worse. He quickened his pace, rushing towards the doors and out into the cold, winter air.
"Damn. Sorry Andy. You’re not a monster, but it’s as we feared. Your rut is approaching, and rather quickly at that. Congrats, dude, you’re really speed running this whole ’I’m a real boy’ stuff." Andrew grumbled.
"Not funny, Michael. I didn’t ask to be a true alpha, I became one." Andrew said darkly and Michael sighed on the other side of the phone. Andrew was covering the distance between the front doors and his car quickly, and slid inside before Michael was able to speak next.
Andrew turned on the car, and Michael’s call connected to the car.
"-joke like that. I’m just trying to brighten the mood, alright? This is a crazy situation and honestly, I had to fight how shocked I was when I heard that you’d knotted Maxwell. Not that I didn’t think you would, just...you’ve really been speed running through everything man. I’m putting your charts next to other late manifesters, alpha and true alpha, and you’re months ahead of them." That news was shocking to Andrew.
He thought he was being slow, and he got the feeling that everyone else thought he was taking a long time to get to this point. It was clear that they were trying not to worry him, or put pressure on him. He clenched his hands around the steering wheel before him, still sitting in the parking lot as he processed Michael’s words. Sighing, he pulled on his seatbelt before he put the car in reverse and began to move.
"I had no idea. My guess is...Max?" Andrew suggested mildly. "Or was it the heat?" He asked and Michael sighed.
"Well, admittedly, it’s a pretty small pool that I have for reference. True alphas are hard to come by already, and the late manifestors? You have to have an in with the family already, since they are protected. They have usually been belittled and made fun of for most of their lives up until this point, so it’s literal brainwashing from the family to make sure that they don’t leave after they manifest. They won’t let them outside to speak to other people until after they have twisted their minds so that they have positive feelings about them." Andrew’s frown felt like a permanent fixture on his face.
"I feel you know this from personal experience?" Andrew confirmed and Michael sighed.
"Being an alpha who specializes in alphas has its perks sometimes, and its downfalls in others. I work with families I can’t even tell you the names of because if it got found out I blabbed, I’d be dead." Andrew chuckled.
"I take it the Beckett family isn’t one of those?" He asked and Michael grumbled.
"They used to be until you showed up. Now they have me rubbing shoulders with them in the open. It has brought me a lot of attention, but I already have my hands full managing the alphas that I have. It’s not like my clientele list changes once someone checks the box of fully manifested. They just don’t need as much of my attention. Like, I’ll be keeping an eye on you like I was before this because your rut is approaching, but after this? I will only need to check in with you in person once every two weeks." Andrew was slightly surprised to hear that.
He should have known it was coming, and in some part of him, he did, but it was still shocking.
"So I won’t see you every day?" Andrew asked and Michael groaned.
"From you, that sounds different, but so many of these alphas say the same damn thing. They get all sad and mopey because I’m the only outside contact that they have, who isn’t their family, and isn’t a complete dick." Andrew snorted.
"I could argue that last part."
"Hey." Michael said in warning. "But seriously, you’ve made incredible progress. My best guess? Having Maxwell around. Having someone that you literally almost would go into a stroke if you didn’t have their scent nearby probably helped you a lot, but you’re going to be the anomaly. No one else is going to be able to recreate what you did." Andrew laughed.
"Why wouldn’t they? Couldn’t they just spend time with the person that they have strong emotions for?" Andrew asked and Michael remained silent on the other side of the phone for a long moment. So long Andrew worried that the phone had disconnected, but that wasn’t the case.
"You’ve read all of the pamphlets I’ve given you at this point, yes?" Andrew was glad he wasn’t in the car with him. He would have smacked him otherwise.
"Uh, well, almost." Andrew admitted and Michael groaned.
"They are meant to help you, Andrew, not hinder you! Read them, and better yet, read them all again. You need a refresher, now that you’ve gone through everything. I’m sure it will help you, and there might be information in there that will help you understand Maxwell better as well." Andrew’s heart jerked at the mention of understanding Maxwell better.
"Michael." Andrew started.
"Yes Andy?" Michael replied and Andrew hesitated for a second.
"I think I didn’t read the book on knotting." Andrew admitted. Michael’s snort told him that he had gathered as much. "Maxwell was...he was really happy that I knotted him, and explained the emotional component behind it. I think I’m going to be in trouble. What if I can’t stop knotting Maxwell?" Andrew pulled up to a red light, waiting for the traffic and for Michael to speak.
"Huh. Well, my gut instinct as your friend is to tell you to just not stop knotting him. If he likes it, and doesn’t mind how uncomfortable it is, or so I’ve been told since I have never personally been knotted, then don’t stop. As your Doctor, though..." He sighed. "It’s complicated. Especially because for true alphas it’s linked to emotional feelings outside of rut. It’s a way for your partner to see, without your words, that you physically can’t be without them. There isn’t really a way to train that, and if there is, it’ll take years. I’m working on getting you the best condoms on the market for true alphas. I didn’t get them for you originally because you weren’t knotting yet." Michael’s words washed over him and Andrew swallowed, the light turning green.
"I can’t believe we broke two." He whispered and Michael chuckled.
"I’m glad you stopped when you did. I get the feeling you understood what happened when you knotted, but yeah ejaculate more when you do it." Andrew flushed, nodding.
"Yeah. Same as when the condom broke the first time too." Andrew muttered. "I think I just get excited being inside of him without a condom." Andrew muttered glumly and Michael snorted, but composed himself. Andrew was getting close to home. This conversation was going to have to end soon.
"That’s...I’m sure Maxwell liked that. Either way, keep in contact with me all weekend, and try to do things outside of the house. Being surrounded by Maxwell’s pheromones might set you off early, so try to limit it." Andrew nodded. "And you said the Doctor’s meeting was on Monday? Be careful. I’m sure that if your rut is as close as Maxwell is thinking, and what I’m thinking, you might trigger yourself once the visit is over." Andrew exhaled slowly, turning onto his street.
That was when he noticed the other cars parked in front of Maxwell’s house. His heart froze. A surprise indeed.
"We’re already planning to be looking at houses and maybe doing a fun date weekend." Andrew told him and Michael made a grunting noise.
"Good. Smart. Sorry I shot down your plans, Andy. I just can’t risk it, especially now." Andrew sighed.
"It’s okay. I was just excited. I’ve brought it up before but he actually seemed like he was going to cave this time." Michael was quiet on the other line for a moment as Andrew pulled in, and then pulled into the garage.
"Sometimes I hate that I have to know your sexual life. Either way, I’ll message you tomorrow. Feel free to message me before then if things feel like they’re taking a turn for the worst. Tell that to Maxwell as well. I’ll come over in a heartbeat." Andrew’s chest tightened.
"Thanks Michael. Have a good night. It was...nice talking to you." Andrew told him and Michael chuckled.
"Don’t tell Maxwell that. I’m sure he’d hate that right now. Have a goodnight." The line went dead at the exact moment Maxwell opened the garage door and rushed towards the car as Andrew turned it off.
"I’m sorry. I couldn’t stop them." He said as he flung the car door open, his eyes wide, his cheeks a little flushed, and he scanned Andrew’s body. Andrew’s self control flickered. It was illegal if he looked at him like that.
