Chapter 270: Reactions

On a random day where everyone’s life is going through ordinarily again, a post from the official account of Lucky99 disrupted the peace again.

For what news? Qin An’s withdrawal from the competition.

When the company posted such an announcement, it quickly received an overwhelming shock from the people who had been following the show. Even though Qin An still wasn’t an official idol, many of the people know him because of his outstanding looks and for what happened at the beginning when the show opened a voting for redemption card that never happened in a reality survival show especially when that time was only after the official audition.

Many are waiting for his improvement, wanting to either see him fall or rise to the top amid his strong competitors such as Shen Lou. Unexpectedly of course, the once who was mocked by many for saying he was too arrogant and lacked emotional understanding successfully made a drastic transformation not just as a trainee but also as an individual.

While many fell for his face, they also began appreciating the constant efforts he made and how he gradually opened himself just to connect with the song he has to perform and the people around him. This made his fan’s belief grow stronger and they are now just eagerly waiting for his debut.

Yet who would have thought that in the middle of his growing success, he’ll suddenly withdraw?

And the stated reason for this? Qin An needs to go home for a sudden family emergency... when he was even known as an orphan.

What kind of absurdity is this?

....

This is what also the trainees remained though about when Director Qian called them for a sudden announcement and told them about the situation. All of them had a disbelief expression on their faces and they were just dumbfounded.

Who would believe such nonsense?!

"Director, are you playing with us?" Lu Nanxiao couldn’t help but comment with disbelief. Others also looked at the Director with hopes in their eyes that maybe this was just a random prank.

However the latter slowly shook his head. "This news was already posted. The audience outside has received this."

"!!!" This was like the tantamount of telling them that there was no really turning back at this point. The company had already announced it, they can’t just force them to pull it back, right?

"W-Where is he?" He Yan’s eyes reddened and he just wanted to go to the young man.

"He went to his room to pack his things."

"!!!"

"Immediately?!" Even Chen Wei reacted strongly while the other trainees didn’t even bother to say excuse to the others and just quickly ran off all of the sudden.

It was obvious where they’re going so the Director just sighed heavily and didn’t bother with them anymore.

"Give them at least half an hour to say goodbye then call him to leave."

****

Meanwhile, He Yan was the fastest to arrive at the room and he immediately opened the door and saw the young man was really packing his things.

"!!!" Seeing this made him completely broke down and strode his way inside while crying loudly.

"Y-You! Y-You’re really leaving?!" he wailed.

Qin An stopped his actions and looked at him with a sigh before nodding.

This made He Yan’s heart break again.

Why?! Why?! He shouted inside his mind. He wanted to ask but his emotions just burst out and didn’t even know what to do aside from crying loudly.

How did this happen so suddenly?! They were just practicing together and working very hard for the final stage, how could this be?! Why is his friend leaving like this?!

"Qin An, can’t it be postponed? We’re already in the final stage." Sheng Yan worriedly tried to ask too. After all the efforts and such, how could Qin An just agree to leave like this?

"I have to leave immediately." The young man answered them. Sheng Yan opened his lips and wanted to ask, but seeing the young man’s eyes filled with firmness, he didn’t know how to continue.

Even others noticed that Qin An doesn’t even seem to have an intention to explain further too so they felt more hopeless. Just as the silence except for He Yan’s sobbing envelops the atmosphere, a voice broke it.

"Why don’t the final performance day be moved? We can do it as early as possible so you can stay in the final stage."

All of them looked at Chen Wei in shock. The latter’s face was calm as he continued. "I can ask my brother to advance to the final stage. That way you can complete this and debut."

Chen Wei certainly knows that Qin An has more potential to debut than him. On the other hand it was kind of an advantage for him if he left but that was his thinking if he’s still the past him.

Right now, he doesn’t want this.

At the beginning this was his expertise, to calmly use his advantage as someone who has power to control many things according to his liking, even if it means stepping over people— this is what he was. But after all the realizations and understanding, Chen Wei knew the changes within himself.

He wants to compete fairly now.

Even if it means he’ll fail to debut or not.

He also knew Qin An’s growing eagerness on stage. He absolutely does not want to leave this opportunity behind. If the reason was something he has to leave, then why not bend the rules again for him?

This might also be a way to apologize for what he did a long time ago.

"That’s right." Xing Ren agreed while softly patting He Yan’s back. "Anan, we can work harder to complete this. We won’t mind it." Others also echoed to this.

"...." Qin An didn’t respond to them.

He looked at how they are willing to cut off some time to prepare themselves just to accommodate him and felt a warm rush on his heart.

These are the people he wants to protect.

Qin An realizes how great the impact will be if they can bring back and save the ginkgo tree. The mental pollution that has been constantly causing pain for everyone will ease and they will have the opportunity to live longer and be happy.

Even though humans here can live longer than in the past, the pain they have to endure while living is also hurting them. If he can stop that pain, won’t He Yan don’t have to have that riot again because of too much exhaustion and overworked?

He won’t have to see others go to the clinic constantly to be injected by inhibitors anymore so they can stay calm. The burden will disappear and if that’s the case, why not do it for them?

Just like how the soldiers outside can fight to let the people live in peace, he can do it too.

Qin An looked at the people he grew close with and smiled gently.

"It’s okay, but thank you, everyone."

He’s still feeling a heavy weight inside his heart actually, but seeing them make an effort, he’s really grateful.

Qin An is not just leaving by himself but with the human he became and the people he got to know with.
