Blood Nemesis-Chapter 227: Visitors left

Breakfast was the first thing that came to his mind when he tried to change the topic. However, his mother ignored Oliver and apologised to Jiah's father.

Oliver wanted to step in and remind his mother that the person before them did not deserve such treatment. But another chilling glare from her froze him in place.

This made Oliver pout and sit silently to the side.

Kim Woojin, who watched Oliver behave in such a manner, wondered whether he was seeing it right. Oliver was a superhuman with incredible strength and willpower. And he had shown it by ripping apart millions of blood beetles without stopping.

Excluding the S rankers, no one else could have something similar.

Though this doesn't mean Oliver was comparable to an S ranker or even an A ranker, he was still up there somewhere in the ranking.

He was certainly deserving of being called a hero.

Or so Woojin thought.

To see someone like that hide his fangs and pull back his claws before a non-superhuman mother made him question his reality.

After all, in this world, everything was supposed to bow to strength.

Strength should determine the status of a person. And even in the family, those who are strong should make the decision.

This was the Kim family way.

However, the Thorne family disregarded all these principles. They were a different kind of people.

Here, the weakest was the one making the decision.

Kim Woojin, who was taught from a young age to follow the natural order, found it perplexing.

He silently moved his eyes away from Oliver and looked at Oliver's mother.

'Perhaps, this lady is the only one who could save me from that monster!' He realised.

Silently, he noted down in his mind to get her phone number.

Meanwhile, Yuna breathed the air she had been holding in for the past few seconds and relaxed. She realised that with Oliver's family present, he wouldn't do anything that might result in a conflict—at least not directly.

Like that, the conversation between the parents returned to their original track.

Supposedly, Jiah's father came to protect his daughter. He also wanted to check on her and…if possible…invite her back home.

However, Jiah did not want to return. This time, Jiah's father didn't dare to force in fear of shattering the already broken trust between them.

This led to the Kim family being passive as they exchanged words.

Finally, after exchanging small talk and pleasantries for a while, Jiah's father, Yuna and Woojin decided to leave.

The beetle swarm was already retreating, and they were not needed anymore.

Watching them preparing to leave, Oliver's parents quickly stopped them and invited them for breakfast.

The Kim family didn't reject it.

They had a hefty meal before stepping out of the house.

Oliver silently followed them as they made their way to the luxurious cars that came to pick them up.

"Hey…"

He stood next to Yuna.

"Hm?"

Yuna was confused.

"Are you stupid?" Oliver inquired.

"Hm???"

What does Oliver mean? Yuna was confused.

Oliver noticed her confusion and stepped closer before asking.

"Are you stupid or are you just plain incompetent?"

"Neither…but what made you think that?" Yuna was curious.

"Did you not sense the team of B rankers, headed by the military standing by? They are here to protect my family. And there are a lot of them deployed all around this area."

Oliver stealthily pointed at the nearby house.

By saying that, he was suggesting that he needed no one else's protection to safeguard his home.

"See the house over there. The people sent by the Thunder Emperor are staying there."

"They are enough to protect the family. So, were you kidding me when you said you came here to protect Jiah?"

"As the strongest family in the city, you should have known about that. Still, you came here."

Oliver frowned.

"What is your purpose?" He inquired.

His voice was cold, his words veiled in threat.

Yuna felt a chill travel up her spine once again.

Ignoring the intense wave of fear that emerged in her mind, she forced out a smile.

"Mr Oliver, there was no other purpose. Jiah's father wanted to visit and make sure she was okay. That's it." She quickly explained.

"Is that it?"

Oliver raised an eyebrow.

"Yes. Just that." Yuna swore on her life and promised.

This made Oliver relax a little. If they had come with some other purpose…for example, making Arin their live-in son-in-law or something similar, Oliver was going to give them a befitting reply.

However, that doesn't seem to be the case.

'Did Jiah's father gain enlightenment?' Oliver wondered, looking at the back of the man disappearing into the luxury sedan before them.

"Anyways, inform me or anyone in the house before visiting," Oliver spoke and closed in towards Yuna's ear.

A light blush immediately covered her neck.

Oliver approached closer than what was comfortable and gently whispered.

"I don't like surprises."

It was a warning. A warning to the Kim family.

Oliver had already proven his strength. And because of that, the warning held much more weight than it had previously.

Yuna, after hearing that, shrank back her neck and nodded sincerely.

"Okay…" She said meekly before walking to the sedan, disappearing into it.

After a few seconds, the vehicle accelerated and disappeared from in front of Oliver.

*Sigh*

Oliver took in a deep breath and walked back to his home.

With the unexpected visitors leaving, he wanted to return home and sleep. His exhausted brain was screaming, requesting him to sleep.

Oliver couldn't hold on anymore.

The exhaustion was, for some reason, accumulating like never before.

With the singular thought of resting, Oliver walked to his room after informing his family and began his slumber.

For the next twelve hours, he slept like a log.

Nothing, not even the aroma of freshly cooked food, could wake him up.

When he woke up that day, it was already late in the evening.

Oliver groggily rubbed his eyes and cleared his vision before looking at himself.

For some reason, a thick layer of dust had accumulated over his body.

As he rubbed, the dust was flaking off, flying all over.

'What!' Oliver stared in confusion.

What happened while he slept?
