Chapter 295: the rescue - I

The door was of poor quality metal. And it was not fitting properly meaning that there was space left underneath the door to the floor and space above and in between the door and the roof.

That was enough for some light to flood in and noise that was going around outside.

At first they were multiple footsteps, Evelyn assumed that they were the girls because after that it was silent. The silence scared her, it meant that everything had begun and the girls were being sold off.

She remained in the corner of the room, pulling at her hair. She was the wife of one of the most powerful people yet she was helpless in the situation. She could do nothing.

Those girls were barely legal but their life was about to come to an end because these men were not going to let them live. Some might be better, she hoped they were, but she knew most of them were the worst humans to ever walk on earth.

Evelyn did not even try to stop the tears that slipped from her eyes. What was the reason to? She had pointlessly wiped them only for them to come back and her to wipe it again.

Her hands reached for her womb again. How was she going to protect this baby? She looked down and muttered, "I’m so sorry.."

this might end up like her first pregnancy. A miscarriage that she could not protect herself from. Evelyn chuckled sadly.

She did not know who caused that miscarriage and she would not know who caused this one either.

The lock opened again and Evelyn turned around to look at it. She tried to get up before the door was open but ended up stumbling on her dress.

The door opened and Evelyn finally stood up. A different man entered, he looked more dangerous than anyone she had ever seen. With a scar running down on the side of his face, he looked like he was bringing her death.

"Come on, girly," he chuckled step closer to her before taking the leash and pulling her forward and out of the room. "It’s your turn now."

Knowing that the inevitable was about to happen and that she could not place a blind trust in Gia, Evelyn wordlessly followed him.

People let it around, dressed in black and Evelyn knew that they were the soldiers. They might not be big in numbers, but she was sure that they had guns and that was something she could never win against when she was empty handed.

She bit her lip at the humiliation of being by a leash like she was a dog. The dog that was about to be sold.

She could feel people looking at her, laughing at the fact that she was the one that was going to get sold.

"My advice would be to shut up." He told her without looking back. "I don’t try to run, no one can cover them up on stage."

What was she going to do by running in front of people that could catch her in a moment?

The more they moved into a particular direction, the louder the voices grew. Not only that, but she could also hear someone very loudly, a particular voice. That must be someone with a Mic.

Someone talking into a Mic and constant chatter, a murmur around, it could only mean one thing.

They were near.

*******

The voices got louder and louder. She could hear the laughter and begging of some girls. The feminine voices could not be mistaken no matter what.

Her legs gave up and she leaned on the wall for support. The man waited in front of the door, before it opened and he conversed with another man.

Evelyn took that as an opportunity to look around her. There was no way she could escape with soldiers walking around in the hallway.

There was no way she could get out of here with the number of guards littering around.

"You’re up, Darling." He turned around to brunette her before pulling her by the leash.

Evelyn stumbled on her dress and almost landed on the floor had it not been the two hands that grabbed her arms and stabilized her.

The man did not stop pulling her leash, making her move forward but Evelyn turned around to look at who had helped her only for him to have started walking in the other direction.

If she thought that she could hear the man with the microphone before, it was a completely different story because it was very loud now. In this narrow hallway, his voice almost echoed.

"And for the final item,"

Evelyn breathed heavily, her eyes closed and the tears flooded out.

"We have the diamond of the Alessandro Empire. Evelyn Salvatore Bianchi!"

The curtains opened that she had no idea were there. The blinding light made her turn her head to the side.

The crowd went up in cheers. Roars, yells, and whistles, all of them were so happy that it disgusted her. The number of people in the room with their faces covered in masks was huge. How many supporters had matt gathered?

"The bidding starts at 10 million dollars!" The announcer who was not Matt much to her surprise spoke into the microphone. "The highest starting point for the greatest possession you could ever have."

Shivering, she looked at the raised hands with numbered placards.

"Do we have 20? Twenty million? Thirty! We have forty!" he yelled, the excitement visible on his face making her skin crawl.

’We have fifty." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

As the amount went up, the hands went down. Many did yet many remained too. With the spotlight on her, she could hardly see how many had their hands up defiantly.

"Seventy Million, gentlemen- Eighty! We have eighty million dollars." He announced and scorched the crowd for another number. Several hands went down and a few of them left too.

Good, that was good, they were leaving.

"A hundred million!" the voice alone silenced the entire crowd. A man stood up in hundreds of them. Like a king, he attracted the entire attention of the crowd.

Slowly, he removed his mask. "A small price to pay for my wife."
