Chapter 104: Skeletons, Drama and a Glutinous body

’It is freaking midnight, why are these girls awake?!’

It was when Ark heard a very familiar voice echo throughout the room that he realized why they were...

"That damn drama again!"

’That tablet... it needs to go.’

His eye sockets seemed to darken ever so slightly as he watched his body walk into the living room.

Faye was in a panda pattern pyjamas, sitting at the left side of the couch, Olivia was holding the tablet this time probably due to the earlier’s tendencies and Stella was at the left, their eyes glued to the screen.

They were so focused on the drama that they did not notice human Ark at first.

But as he got closer to them, Faye looked up from the tablet, her eyes meeting Ark’s.

"Ark, you’re awake, I hope we didn’t wake you?"

Faye had been acting slightly differently these days, initially, she had been a little prickly with him, but nowadays, she was a little friendlier which was weird, but it made no difference to his body...

Of course, his body gave no response.

It just kept walking forward, towards the kitchen.

That was until Faye added:

"Do you want to watch the drama? We have popcorn."

’No, I don’t want to watch the drama, why would I want to watch a werewolf romance film— don’t you dare you!—’

Ark ran his bony finger past his face as he watched his body walk over to where Faye was and sat down next to her.

She offered him popcorn and he took the entire bowl off her hands.

He even leaned onto her slightly to get a better view of the screen.

’Ark shut the door and slumped down.

"My reputation... my reputation is gone!"

After mopping for a few seconds he rose to his feet and walked to the center of the room.

He could already feel his essence burning fast so he had to make good use of the time he had left.

’I’ll deal with him later, why do I even have a sentient body?’

Ark sighed, choosing to focus on the matter at hand instead.

There were a few things he wanted to test, since this was a fairly new experience for him he wanted to get as much information as he could as fast as possible.

First of all...

A swarm of golden sparks engulfed his figure and then an axe materialized out of thin air on his bony palms.

But just as he held onto it he was suddenly pulled forcefully to the ground.

Thud!

His petite frame collided with the floor and his fingers were pinned underneath the axe. Ark tried to push the axe off but it didn’t even budge, it just laid there, unmoved.

’So I can summon artifacts in this form...’

The good news was that he could summon them, but the bad news was that he was stuck.

He was just realizing that the skeleton was very weak physically. It made sense really, it had no flesh or muscle, how would it be able to lift things?

Scientifically it made sense, but it would be foolish to use human biology to classify beasts, the lieutenants were still skeletons but Ark had experienced their strength firsthand.

’Now what to do...’

Ark rose to his feet and tried pulling again; he put his foot to the axe and shoved it forward, yet it only shifted slightly.

He tried using an explosive burst of ’strength’ and yet nothing happened.

Ark sighed but only a squeaking sound emanated from his body.

’I guess it’s time for test two...’ 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

’Can I use my curse in this form?’

The best option he had was to try using his second form to knock down the Artifact. Ark wasn’t sure if second form dragon strike could destroy it, but it didn’t matter.

Only regular artifacts can be truly destroyed, primary artifacts would simply take time to reform, although, you would lose all the loyalty points you have amassed.

’Here we go!’

Whoosh!

Ark swung the fingers of his free hand forward with bone-chilling precision, but all that managed to happen was that a soft breeze blew over the axe.

’Noted... I can’t use my curses in this form.’

There was only one thing left to do—

’I’ll have to cut the arm off.’

Ark was bout to pull at the hand when he realized something.

’Wait... what the hell?’

A cold feeling washed over as he stared at the axe in front of him with a sudden burst of enlightenment. The axe dissipated into a wave of sparks seconds later.

’Why didn’t I think of dismissing it earlier?’

Come to think of it, ’Why didn’t I simply command my body to stay?’

There was only one simple explanation.

Ark was getting dumber.

It was not like he was getting dumber in a real sense, it was just that the intelligence of the beast he had possessed was infuriatingly low, and as such there was a tug of war between his wit and the beast’s wit.

Meaning that it was possible to inherit traits of the dead beasts he possessed...

Ark sat down on the floor of the room, staring at the window outside.

’This is quite a discovery.’

But was that where it truly ended? Was it only intelligence he had to worry about?

A skeleton was a rather low ranked creature with little to nothing going on in its head, what would happen if he were to possess a profane creature, or maybe even a Malevolent beast?

Would he be able to remain himself? Or was there a slight chance he would lose control and act out in the nature of the beast?

Ark made a mental note to be more careful in the future, for now, he would have to limit his possessions to the skeleton alone until he figured things out.

’I think that is enough practice for today, now how do I get back to my body?’

He closed his eyes and once again felt the strings connecting his spirit core to his contract, the black mark appeared once again on the back of his hand and began to glow.

The next time Ark opened his eyes, he was leaning into Faye, watching the drama in front of them.

Ark reached into the popcorn bowl and took a handful.

’I’ve already embarrassed myself, no need to hold back now.’

"So... who did he pick?"
