Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 103: Possessing the Dead
Ark stared at the crumpled skeleton in front of him and scratched his head, it was only after pulling the entire thing out that he realized he had no idea what to do.
He had possessed a skeleton in the past, true but that memory along with a lot of others was gone, completely erased from his mind.
Dragon strike came naturally to him and he was sure his beastmaster abilities, whatever they were, would also come naturally as well.
But this was different— it was unique.
Ark stretched his hands towards the skeleton.
"Connect!"
Nothing happened, if anything, the skeleton looked even more dead than before.
’Let me try something else...’
"Possess!"
The sound of the rain beating against the glass intensified, and a chilling wind blew into the room causing him to shiver slightly.
And yet nothing happened.
Ark went over a few other words that he felt might work, words such as, Arise! Erect! Move!
But at the end of it, he was looking like a deranged fool, so he decided to try something else.
Ark clasped his hands together and sat cross-legged, then he took in a deep breath and calmed his mind.
He had been growing his spirit core to hopefully combat his blight through two different methods, meditation and slaying beasts.
Ark could already feel the results of all the slaughter he had done by how much stamina and strength he had gotten.
But the second method was more subtle, to mediate, you had to connect with your spirit core, and feel every single part of it.
His plan was to find where the contract was anchored, if it was right then just like his curse there was a point in his core where the contract would be anchored— all he had to do was pull at it to forcefully activate the contract.
Thinking about mediation took Ark to a problem he had been putting away for some time now... his blight.
Why hadn’t he experienced any effect up till this date?
According to Silver, he was not experiencing any side effects of his blight yet because he had not been using much of his curse.
This was technically still true since he always tried to conserve essence, but at the same time he had almost been drained of essence once.
’Am I missing something?’
Or was it possible that the blight was already in effect— but he just wasn’t aware?
Ark shook his head, trying to shake off those stray thoughts, meditation was always like this. It was easy to get carried away and lose focus of the main goal.
’Focus.’
He felt his spirit core shortly after, the turbulent mass of essence that dwelled within him spiraling like a stormy sea.
His essence felt light but at the same time heavy, it felt destructive but at the same time gentle. It was like a living contradiction to itself.
The deeper Ark reached into his essence, the more lost he became, it was just too complex to completely fathom and at his current level of mastery, it was far too difficult for him.
And so he redirected his focus...
In the storm of essence, there were tiny little impurities— if he could call them that. These impurities were substances they had somehow latched to his spirit core, since the contract needed essence, it would be connected somehow.
’Bingo.’
Ark finally felt it, a little dark mass floating somewhere at the corner of his core, it was like a long black string linked the mark to his core.
He took hold of that string, and he tugged at it.
The mark on Ark’s hand began to give up a light blue glow, glimmering slightly and illuminating the room.
Ark’s eyes were still closed so he did not see, but by each passing second, that light was getting brighter and brighter until—
Thump!
His head suddenly felt heavy, as his body collapsed on the floor, his head bouncing against the floor.
Ark felt light and was temporarily overcome by a feeling of weakness.
’Argh, the hell?’
He sat up straight rubbing his head, he had spoken and yet he could not hear his voice.
That was when he saw something move in front of him—
It was himself, but in black and white, actually, everything around him was in black and white.
’It worked!’
A low squeaky sound came out of his body wherever he tried to speak, like chalk scratching against the floor.
Human Ark or rather Ark’s body rose before him and stared around the environment with a lost look on his expression.
And then he stared down at him.
Ark rose up as well and looked up at his body.
’Damn, am I that tall?’
He was now looking far better than he did a few months ago, his muscles were taking shape, and his face looked far better now that he was well fed.
’Hi there, handsome.’
His body frowned slightly and walked to the bed, sitting down on its edge.
’Wait, can he hear me? Can you hear me?’
His body nodded and stared around the room lazily, meanwhile, Ark was thinking...
When he first met Kiera in this state, his body had protected him on instinct and stopped when he asked him to.
Does that mean I will be able to fight both with the possessed skeleton and with my body as well?
Ark was already thinking about the possibilities, he would be far more formidable if that were to happen—
’Hey. Where are you going!’
Ark watched as his body walked right past him and grabbed the door of the handle. He was about to tell him to stop when he twisted the knob and went into the living room, leaving Ark appalled.
No one apart from Silver knew he was practicing, and no one even knew he had a skeleton with him.
’What the hell? I’m literally sabotaging myself!’
Thankfully, it was midnight, there was no way the girls would be awake, all he had to do was quickly get in there and get his body back!
Ark immediately swung the door open, only to immediately swing it back closed.
"I am screwed...."
