Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 82: The Stench of Death
In the living room of the Minister’s mansion, three girls were sitting on a lavish couch, huddled together under a blanket and staring at a tablet, completely lost in the drama.
—"I’m sorry, Lily had been with me from the very beginning. I can’t betray her..." A male voice came from the tablet.
—Tears welled up in the girl’s eyes as she turned away from the man. "So that is how it is..."
—The man reached forward to hold her hand only to stop halfway, a sad look flashed across his face as he turned to leave. But the heroine finally gathered courage and turned to face him.
—"B-but, I lo-"
The end credits began to play.
"Arghhhhh! I hate cliffhangers!" The girl in the center screamed, lifting the tablet high above her, ready to slam it against the ground.
Her friend, Olivia immediately grabbed her hand, her light voice sounding panicked as she spoke.
"Faye! You’re going to break it! The next episode comes out tomorrow, how will we watch it then?"
Considering her words, Faye slowly placed the tablet on the table.
Faye then turned her attention to her second friend only to find her sobbing.
"Stella? Are you okay?"
The girl turned to her and gave her a thumbs up just before she burst into tears.
"He s-should have chosen Luna, n-not that bitch," she said in between sobs.
Both Faye and Olivia stared at her blankly before Fayre spoke.
"Stella... language."
The girl simply turned away from them, choosing to face the table instead.
Faye relaxed her back on the couch, her black hair falling behind her as she stared up at the ceiling. That had been the fifth werewolf series they had watched in the last twenty four hours and yet, Faye found herself bored.
How wouldn’t she be bored when they had been locked indoors ever since the apocalypse started?
Faye’s hand moved over to the mark on her forehead, a dark mark that was in the shape of a star.
She was seventeen and as such had not yet awakened, if only had been born a little earlier...
’Maybe I would have been able to do something exciting at least.’
Just as she finished that train of thought, the alarm blared loudly and red lights began to flash in the room.
"Did something manage to get in?"
Faye hurried over to the window and peered out through it at the field. The guards were surrounding something but she couldn’t see what it was because her vision was obstructed by their bodies.
Olivia looked panicked as she spoke:
"Faye, what is going on?"
Faye’s gaze hardened and she grabbed both of her friends by the hand and pulled them towards her.
"Let’s get upstairs now!"
They quickly hurried over to the elevator and got in, pushing the button that led to the third floor, where her room was.
Faye always thought the elevator doors closed far too fast but right now, it felt infuriatingly slow and worse of all after the door closed, a calm tune began to emanate from the speakers, doing nothing to calm the panicked girls. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Before they got to her room, they could already hear the booming sounds of guns.
Boom!
There was a large explosion that rocked the entire building. Olivia fell to the floor, tears streaming out of her eyes, while Stella held onto her ears tightly, her eyes closed.
Faye’s breathing intensified and she could hear her heart beating in her ears, all she wanted to do was to curl up into a ball and hide but she knew if they stayed here, they would die.
And so she snapped herself out of it and pulled her friends into the room.
Faye shut the door behind her and went to peek out through her window. This time she had a far better view and what she saw shocked her.
Little creatures were emerging from the floor with crooked swords and clubs.
Faye stepped away from the window, her legs shaky as she hurried over to her door, closing all eighteen locks.
Then she rushed to her bed, crawling right underneath it next to her friends.

Ark and Kiera arrived at the Minister’s house about forty minutes after the distress call was made.
They had to fight their way through stray beasts that had spread out to the streets. But with Kiera’s talent at driving, they were able to get there unsacthed.
Ark couldn’t say the same about the vehicle though, the military suv had seen better days.
The first thing they noticed was how quiet the environment was, there was a smell of ash in the air that was different from the normal ashy smell that came with the apocalypse.
The fence of the house was far too high which made it difficult to see what was going on inside.
Seeing no way to get into the building, Ark summoned his axe and reared it back, ready to bring down the gate when he felt his body suddenly going high up into the sky.
Then the same invisible force knocked him forward, and over the fence.
Ark landed rather unceremoniously— on his back, facing the sky above while Kiera landed beside him with the grace of a feline.
"You could have been a little more gentle, you know."
There was no answer.
Ark’s eyebrows knitted together as he rose to his feet, and then he sucked in a sharp breath.
All around him were countless bodies of dead guards, the injuries on their bodies were nasty and appeared to be done in a way to inflict the most possible pain.
Although human bodies formed the majority of the deaths, there was something else as well. Smaller bodies with green skin and protruding stomachs.
"Goblins..."
The gate they had come from was nowhere in sight, meaning all of them must have emerged but they are no longer around.
They had moved into the mansion.
The question was—
"Did anyone make it?"
