Chapter 29: Dragon’s Authority

A wave of anger invaded the leader’s psyche, and he saw red. He remembered the words his leader had said to him before he left, and his anger only rose higher.

"Kill him!" he roared and took off, sprinting towards Damion like a jet.

"Wait, Rafael!!" The other students tried to stop him, but he was already too close to Damion.

A sword appeared in Damion’s hand, and he brandished it with unsurprising skill.

A water bullet shooting towards him was split in half, shattering into a rain of water droplets.

Damion thought it had ended there, but he was wrong. The water droplets stopped midair under Rafael’s manipulation, and shot towards his eyes. He was shocked by this development, but remained calm regardless.

He blinked, and the droplets pelted against his eyelids, doing next to no damage.

As soon as he opened his eyes though, he found five earth spikes inches away from his body.

Now Damion was truly shocked.

’Even with their leader fighting with anger clouding his vision, they are still helping well,’ Damion thought. ’Seems like they’re not so useless after all.’

Damion braced himself for impact, and he felt the earthen spikes crash against his body, hitting him hard and shattering against his skin, but failing to pierce his body. Only small scratches could be seen on his torso behind his torn clothing, nothing more than that.

’Hahaha, I still underestimate myself.’ Damion laughed.

However, his laugh was short-lived by a fireball burning its way towards him rapidly. He focused, and with the sword in his hand, he cleaved the fireball in half, causing another explosion.

A water serpent slithered towards him, and he once again parried its fangs and pushed it aside. Before he could recover from that combo, more earthen spikes were thrown at him, and he stumbled backwards.

In just a few exchanges, Damion found himself on the backfoot, defending himself with all he had. The tables had turned, yet, he still looked forward confidently, parrying, dodging and blocking nonstop.

Though he seemed to be unfazed by all this, his mind was working swiftly to come up with an idea. He couldn’t keep this up infinitely, he was bound to get tired and make mistakes.

Damion used the sword in ways even Craig wouldn’t believe was possible. Just one touch from him had brought up its details, and he saw some pretty interesting skills the weapon had.

Damion blocked another fireball and jumped back, dodging an avalanche of earth spikes and bullets after.

"Is that all you got!" Damion asked, further provoking Rafael. "Is this how you all fight? Like sissies?"

He chuckled mockingly and raised a brow. "I thought ganging up on someone would let you have an easy win, but with what I’m seeing... you’re not having it easy."

Damion laughed again, further enraging Rafael. "Gang my ass, you’re just a bunch of retards with flashy abilities."

Rafael’s face turned beet red with rage and embarrassment. Damion’s words were partly true, they had ganged up on him, yet they were still struggling, quite pathetic indeed.

Damion hadn’t merely said this to make them all lose themselves to rage, and that’s because he partly felt this way. They had all come at him at the same time with the aim of teaching him a lesson, but they already had one of them out of the fight, and Damion hadn’t received a scratch.

Rafael roared, his eyes blazing with anger as he spread his arms apart, channeling all the mana he had and began to form a large beast-like water construct.

The student with the Fire Ability, Steven, blasted ahead with flames streaming behind him, pushing himself forward quickly.

He reached Damion and unhesitatingly coated his whole body with flames, sending out a roundhouse kick at him.

"Fool," Damion muttered as he vanished into his shadow. "You only increased the amount of the shadows around."

Damion’s eyes glinted with amusement when he reappeared behind the third student with the Earth Ability, Jim.

He raised his sword, leaned back on a foot, and pressed forward, throwing the sword straight at him.

Jim’s eyes widened in terror as the sword tore through the air, moving too fast for his eyes to track.

The other students, Rafael and Steven, ignored him just like Damion wanted, and Jim’s abdomen was pierced, the force launching him back faster than he had ever been.

"It was stupid of you to disarm yourself, don’t you think?" Rafael suddenly roared as the water construct fully formed.

Damion didn’t reply but raised his hand.

Rafael clicked his tongue and launched his prepared attack at Damion, watching as it practically tore through everything in its way.

The ground blocks from the walkway and even the air was pushed back as the massive Dragon-like construct reached him, its mouth closing down on his body.

"Weak," Damion voiced out as Dragon’s Authority surged, and the construct practically collapsed into water vapor.

’I’m the heir of the Dragon God, and anything related to a Dragon bows before me,’ Damion thought arrogantly.

Meanwhile, Rafael had his mouth wide open, unable to fathom what had just unfolded. His strongest attack had been negated... just like that?

In that same moment, the sword in Jim’s abdomen pulsed and tore out roughly, before flying back into Damion’s hand.

Damion caught the sword with ease, his eyes still on Rafael. "You should never have attacked me," he said menancingly.

Rafael glanced at Steven, and they both nodded.

Damion sighed. "You know you can’t defeat me, so just stop trying," he said again, but his words fell on deaf ears. Rafael and Steven still had backup plans of attack.

’I didn’t want to do this,’ Damion thought as he raised both hands and returned the sword to his storage.

He closed his eyes, focusing all his attention on a Bond Skill. Rafael and Steven took that chance to attack, and they charged at him, Water and Fire attacks preparing to be released.

The air shuddered under the intense attack about to be unleashed, but they were only halfway towards Damion when his eyes snapped open, and his palms aimed at them. Before they could react, two beams of pure green energy left his palms in sync, crashing on their chests, and burning holes in them.
