Draconic King of Shadows-Chapter 30: Reflection and Planning
Rafael and Steven were blasted back with shocking velocity by the Drake’s Poison Blast skill. The poison seared through their clothing, then their skin, and finally, it charred a layer of their bones.
They crashed on the ground, bouncing off it like ping pong balls and gouging a trench in the process. The force was so great they got knocked out instantly before coming to a grinding halt.
Damion lowered his hands, the glow emanating from them dimming and disappearing.
"Matilda is getting stronger too," Damion stated with a bright smile on his face. "I don’t think this skill was as strong as this before."
He turned his head to the side, looking at the medics who stared with mouths agape, horrified at the scene they had just witnessed. They seemed to notice his stare and immediately scrambled to their feets, running towards the beaten students and beginning to revive them.
Damion’s smile faded, replaced by a concerned look. ’They would only send more of them after me,’ he thought, and then sighed. ’At least I would gain something from them, so it’s fine... for now.’

"These rewards are making me considering attacking people," Damion joked.
He dropped his gaze to stare at his clothing, and he couldn’t help but shake his head in annoyance. "Lyra better make a good armor piece out of that Core," Damion spat out, remembering that he had given Lyra the Green Rose Poison Heart Core to make an armor piece out of it.
It might have looked stupid to give her something valuable to him after they had only met for a few hours, but he was planning ahead for something much bigger.
Damion remembered the first time he had attended the Advanced Exosuit Prototyping Class. Lyra was working on random Mech pieces, welding some parts together and using a hammer, of all things, to straighten some metal strips.
His interest was aroused then, and he watched her work away for quite some time, before he was carried away by other things.
It turned out that she was a Blacksmith and Mech Developer, something he had figured out by mistakenly eavesdropping on two students’ conversation, and her aim was to be the first to create an armor set that synced Magic and Technology together perfectly.
He planned on meeting up with her to partner up and help achieve her goal, mostly because he was interested in the outcome of her idea, but... she had come to him of her own accord, seeking partnership —though not the partnership he wanted— and he used the opportunity to test how good she was, offering her the Green Rose Poison Heart Core to forge.
"A week huh?" Damion mused to himself. "If you’re that good, show me what you’ve got..."
***
At the end of the day, Damion dropped the idea of searching for bullies to complete his quest and went back to his dorm room.
His mind had always occupied with surviving another day, but now, he had the luxury of having other thoughts, and though still related to survival, it was a welcome change.
A few hours went by, yet he remained awake. His metabolism had been improved with the rise in his Constitution and HP, plus, he had slept a few hours ago, so it was no surprise he couldn’t sleep in time.
Adding the fact that he was going to meet with Hakuro for his sword practice the next day, he was anxious and couldn’t sleep.
He didn’t let his anxiety get the best of him though, forcing his thoughts to wander around, moving from one topic to another.
He thought about what Matilda had been doing at the reception of the Blacksmithing Class the previous day, he thought about his skills and Ability, ways he could improve them and other related stuff.
He also didn’t forget to prepare a plan for when he was going to begin searching for more tickets —and speaking of tickets, he had found three in the necklace of Craig along with some credits. It seemed like with his Abilities, getting around and stealing tickets was easy for him, but unfortunately, it was useless against Damion’s Dragon’s Authority skill.
The skill had helped him times without numbers and in diverse ways. He noticed that nothing in a 25 meters radius wasn’t registered in his mind.
However, like a programmed machine, his mind naturally filtered anything that wasn’t needed to avoid overflow of useless information, only targeting the data needed, that was how he was able to see through the dust and smoke and also notice Craig’s invisibility.
It sounded like an overpowered skill, but in actuality it had its own flaws. If a terribly fast projectile was thrown from his blind spot, he might not be able to dodge in time. However, if it came from an angle his eyes could capture easily, even if it was moving too quickly, he might react fast enough to activate Dragon’s Reflective Skin and Shadow Walk.
In conclusion, even as his 25 meters radius was covered, it could still be successfully breached by something fast.
Damion also hadn’t forgotten that strange telekinetic power it had displayed in his fight with the Green Rose Poison Heart. He also remembered how it had dismantled Rafael’s Dragon’s construct, just because it mimicked a Dragon. Crazy!
Damion turned in his bed, his brows raised comically. "This skill... I need to look into it more," he voiced out with amusement.
The skill wasn’t something one would see as useful at first, because the other skills were flashy and looked cooler, still, it was the most useful of the lot. It was a passive skill that could be turned off, and it leveled up after constant use.
His other skills leveled up if constantly used too, but considering they were active skills, he’ll have to drain his mana multiple times to make one of them level up once.
He didn’t know it, but his mind slowly shot down, and he drifted off into sleep.
