Exo Seeker: The Strongest Human Woke Up In The Future!-Chapter 38: Confidence or Arrogance
Chapter 38 - Confidence or Arrogance
With gunshots and a hail of flames in the background, Aaron and Kael locked eyes—one filled with pure killing intent, the other with amusement.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Kael raised an eyebrow as he lowered the handgun he'd picked up along the way. This was their second standoff, and also the group he was about to get revenge on.
Not even a day had passed, and he was already on his second act of revenge. Kael couldn't help but sigh, though he wouldn't deny that this was quite exciting.
Hopefully, the person in front of him and his henchmen could put up a decent fight. His whole body ached from exhaustion, and he hadn't rested since waking up. He was still just a normal human, but pushing his body to the limits was a great way to train—or so others said. A hundred years ago, he hadn't needed to train.
What for? He had already been the strongest human back then, and improving his strength was like a snail trying to cross a continent. Unless he truly wanted to learn a new Skill or Martial Technique, there had been no point. The only thing he could have upgraded was his white Aegis Suit, and even that required the greatest Exo Engineers.
"You really have a death wish, don't you?!" Leader Aaron shouted, his eyes wide and bloodshot.
The shout snapped the White Prime out of his thoughts.
"Yeah, you could say that," Kael admitted with a nod, making no effort to deny it. He holstered the handgun in his utility belt and raised his sniper rifle, blatantly pointing it at the group. "Well, do you?"
Aaron frowned at the sight of the weapon. He glanced at his teammates and signaled them to protect him. Light blue translucent barriers appeared around him, ensuring their safety from both Kael and the Ground Fire Hog's rampage.
In the background, the Ground Fire Hog continued battling the New One, completely ignoring the weaker Primers. But its sheer size made its attacks devastating, and many were still caught in the destruction. The New One's group, however, was strong, and the Behemech had already suffered numerous wounds.
"You sure know how to run your mouth. It makes me want to slice it off," Leader Aaron smirked. Despite the Advanced Pulse Sniper aimed at him, he showed no fear. The lunatic had pulled off some party tricks before, but Aaron already knew his capabilities. He wouldn't fall for them a second time.
Aaron had his suit. The lunatic didn't. All he had to do was activate his speed module, and dodging the bullet would be a simple matter.
"Just because you got lucky last time doesn't mean you can take me head-on!"
"Let's find out, shall we?" Kael smirked, peering through the scope.
Seeing this, Aaron gritted his teeth. The blatant disrespect churned his gut, filling him with the urge to tear the annoying bastard into a thousand pieces.
He glanced at his teammates—still holding their ground against the flaming attacks with their shield tubes—before checking his own equipment. Satisfied that everything was in place, he took a step forward.
"You leave me no choice. You want to die? Then I'll personally kill you!" Leader Aaron growled, his suit letting out a whirring sound.
This time, he wasn't going to hold back. He'd finally had enough.
Kael didn't answer as he waited for his opponent to get close. Although he remained silent, his lack of response only further agitated Aaron, who responded by increasing his speed.
"You will never be able to defeat people like us! You are nothing but ordinary—weak and easily crushed!" Aaron shouted, his voice battling against the sounds of explosions and gunfire. Appearing in front of the non-suited man, he pulled his hand back, his suit pushing its limits.
Then, he punched with all the strength he could muster!
Time seemed to slow down before halting completely. And in this frozen world, a burst of bullets erupted from the barrel of the pulse rifle in the White Prime's hands. The light from the rifle flashed intensely, and the moment it disappeared, Leader Aaron's form changed—his body bent from the impact as he was sent flying toward his group.
When time resumed, Aaron and his men crashed into each other, scattering across the battlefield.
Their shield tubes flickered before vanishing completely.
The other group of Primers was stunned. Aaron's squad had been thrown into disarray, yet not a single fireball had struck their shields. Before they could even process what had happened, the Ground Fire Hog let out its most terrifying roar since it arrived.
A deep gash had appeared along its side, metal and blood pouring from the wound. The sight caused the Primers' eyes to light up in realization—the Final Boss had become vulnerable. Now, their Exoskeleton suits had a real chance of inflicting damage.
Without sparing a second thought for Aaron and his men, the other Primers bolted toward the Behemech, melee weapons in hand.
Leader Aaron struggled to his feet, his suit emitting mechanical noises—gears turning, hydraulics churning. He watched as the other Primers rushed past him, scrambling to secure more "contribution."
Aaron clenched his fists. Seeing the excitement on their faces, he knew the Fissure was about to close. Yet, with that annoying bastard still alive, his fury, frustration, and wounded pride refused to let him move on—even if Contribution was on the line.
"B-Boss, let's just ignore him... The Final Boss is already weak! We have to join them before they kill it!" one of his teammates urged, worry in his voice.
"Shut up!" Aaron snapped. His glare was sharp. "If you want to go, then go! But I'm killing this son of a b*tch first!"
"B-But..." His teammate hesitated, stealing a glance at Kael, who was now calmly raising his sniper.
By all logic, the man should have been ordinary—weak, even. Yet, after what had just happened, they found themselves reevaluating the lunatic.
How was his reaction speed so fast that even their leader couldn't get close to him?
"It's luck!" Aaron shouted as if trying to convince himself as much as his team. "You hit me because of luck!"
Kael smirked. "You talk too much for a dying man."
"Dying man?" Aaron spat on the ground before pulling out a retractable sword and activating a shield tube. A translucent barrier flared to life in front of him.
That last hit had made him realize—Kael was far from ordinary. But even so, Aaron's confidence in his suit didn't waver.
He knows how to take advantage of openings. His reflexes are fast, and he's skilled with his weapons... Even without a suit, he's dangerous, Aaron thought with a frown. I have to kill him fast before he can fire another shot.
"Just because we tried to steal your Growth Orbs? Is that it?"
"Yes," Kael didn't deny it, his finger resting on the trigger, ready to fire at any moment. "And your greed will be your death—along with your henchmen, of course."
Aaron's teammates bristled with anger, and one of them took a step forward. "You think you can defeat all of us?! What an arrogant ba—"
Before the man could finish, a bullet struck his forehead. Blood erupted from the wound, and his body crumpled to the ground.
Aaron slowly turned to his fallen teammate, eyes widening in horror.
That was too fast.
