’[Telekinetic Series: Force Field]’

-Fuaammm!

The moment Flynn’s seemingly defensive spell was activated, a small pulsing aquamarine dome, instantly spread out from him as the point of origin.

In a split second, the pulsing barrier completely covered the entirety of their academy’s airship which spanned the length of one-and-a-half, standard football field and the height of a three-story building.

The sky pirates were obviously, quite visibly shocked by what had just happened but the second-year cadets themselves completely disregarded the occurrence and kept battling with their assailants.

-BOOM!

-BOOM!

-BOOM!

Fully charging their beam cannons, some of the Megalodons’ airships, finally fired their charged beams, expecting it to obliterate the pulsing barrier easily but unfortunately for them, Flynn, just like every other cadet presently, was in a rather shitty mood.

Swiftly changing the properties of his [Force Field] spell on the fly, the multiple fired beams that collided with his gigantic barrier, met a resistance akin to an elastic rubber whose tensile strength far exceeded their own destructive power.

But that wasn’t all.

If before the fired beams were of a fiery crimson-red color, now, as they were about to be reflected back to their firers, they took on the exact aquamarine-green color of Flynn’s barrier and had far more destructive power than when they were previously fired.

This clearly indicated that the youth had tampered with and amplified the mana in the beams when it collided with his barrier, further increasing its firepower.

Yes, after reaching A-rank just a few days ago, Flynn could now fully reflect magical attacks with his [Force Field] spell as long as he had enough mana to withstand against the initial attack.

-TWOOM!

-TWOOM!

-TWOOM!

Happening in the fraction of a second, the destructive beams were reflected back to the airships that fired them and the result; explosive turbulence that sent about three of them who were unable to evade the attack in time, plunging downwards and straight for the ocean’s depths.

Without even being told, every single sky pirate present on the airships that was destroyed, had safely jumped out before it exploded, causing them to land onto the academy’s airship face first as Flynn deactivated the spell.

’Good gracious! I seriously have a deep fear for the massive potential that spell will have in the future’ Adrian thought to himself as slight shiver ran down his spines.

Now fully warmed up, Flynn along with the other youths soon found themselves battling the sky pirates who were dressed in a thug-like composition of black and a fiery red!

Almost every single one of them also had red-colored and shark-printed bandanas tied to various parts of their attire, be it their head, over their mouth as a mask or various sections of their arm or leg.

Ivelia and Ivar, soon completely split from the other three and focused more on having to take down the phantasms.

Even though the creatures seemed quite easy to take down, it was actually far from the truth as said creatures were able to morph into various things they had seen before and use it as a weapon to deal devastating attacks, as evidenced by the previous one that had tried to attack Ivelia.

Adding to that was their ability to shift their core as they pleased within their body, making them quite the annoying adversaries.

The only reason Ivelia had been able to destroy one easily was due to the fact that the arrows she used were designed for her by Ivar to take advantage of their explosive potions by infusing tiny amounts of the chemical used to make them into her arrowheads, resulting in a reaction that would eventually explode after a while.

Asides from that though, both twins had now fully mastered the first form of their respective weapon arts and were making full use of it in against the creatures along with a particular gadget Ivar had kept creating and working on over the past five months.

Back to the current war-like spectacle though, most of the other pirate airships still continued their never-ending assault against both the cadets and the multiple phantasms and the battle against them only seemed to be intensifying by the minute.

Watching as Flynn reflected another mana attack that was sent hurtling towards all three of them, who were in fairly close range to each other as they put down multiple sky pirates, Adrian let out a deep breath while taking a stance.

"Fuuuu…"

"I hope I never have to fight you for real at any point in my life" Adrian genuinely said to Flynn who was clashing with two sky pirates, while he himself was already in the lowered stance of his weapon art’s second form, his concentration at its max and his eyes tightly shut.

"Yeah. I’m not going to be caught in the crossfire of that nasty art of yours!" Flynn immediately replied and swiftly, both he and Aiden quickly dashed away from the spot they had previously been in, knowing fully well the chaos that would soon ensue once Adrian released his weapon art.

"{Sunburst Art – Second Form: Esoteric Flashblaze}!"

In tune with the words that left his mouth, a fiery golden ring of fire suddenly manifested around the Crown Prince and the heat emanating from the entire region he was in was enough to sizzle and scorch anyone’s skin, even if they were fairly high-tiered rankers.

In an instant though, the blazing ring of golden fire, morphed into a full-on golden flame dragon and in the blink of an eye, Adrian was already in the sky, splitting a fired beam in half, along with the unfortunate pirate airship that fired the beam itself.

"Now who should be more afraid of whom" Flynn scoffed as he quickly activated his [Ether Blades] and took to the skies.

Alongside him was Aiden who was now flying right beside, his hair fluttering in the wind as he retrieved his own magnificently crafted greatsword.

Yes, flying.

Finally reaching low-tier S-rank about two weeks ago, Aiden could now fully use [Reversal] as he had had been planning to, making the ability to fly effortlessly and freely a reality.

But that was not the only benefit that came with now being an S-ranker.

Battling in the air for a few more minutes, Aiden realized a pressing problem that would soon be rearing its ugly head.

Sharing a knowing look with his brother, both of them dispersed into the left and right upper parts of the sky respectively, way above the region in the atmosphere where the current battle was taking place.

Ever since he had left the entertainment deck on the airship for the main deck, Aiden, just like Flynn had, had noticed that their main adversaries wouldn’t be the camouflaging pirate airships.

Far from that, it was the phantasms who would end up becoming a serious pain in the ass if they didn’t take them out when they were still presently dispersed.

Already pretty annoying creatures to deal with, once they begun to realize that they were getting severely pushed back, all of them, as if of a hive mind, would agglomerate together to form a gigantic version of themselves with multiple cores that would make death near impossible for them.

This form of theirs at times, would even put most SS-rankers through their paces and as a result, when lower-ranked individuals are tasked with fighting them, the general consensus is to kill them off before they get the chance to do so.

However, currently due to the multiple sky pirates the cadets had to deal with, the Phantasms who were also slowly getting pushed back from both ends, had started to agglomerate slowly, high above different regions in the sky, hidden from the naked eye due to their camouflage.

That on the other hand, was something that ended up being very useless when Aiden and Flynn were involved due to their mastery of mana sense.

Flying over to the spot where they were invisibly agglomerating while splitting two airships in half with a destructive slash along the way, Aiden soon levitated in front of the camouflaging creatures.

Pointing his greatsword towards the area they were in, the youth let out a deep breath and with precise mana control, muttered a new spell that he was still doing his best to master.

"[Gravity Series: Singularity]"

Slowly, a tiny, dark green orb began to take form at the tip of his greatsword.

At first the orb did nothing and just slowly kept materializing but in the next few seconds, the air around it began to distort in such a mind-bendingly vicious manner and in the fraction of another second following that, a destructive pull of energy began to drag every phantasm within the area towards it, the hold so immensely powerful and strong, it was as if a black hole had descended upon them.

And in all rights, Aiden had gotten the idea for the spell by researching a bit about black holes.

Although it was nowhere as particularly destructive as it was meant to be, the future potential it had for massive destruction was very much there.

-Fuaaaammmm - !!!

Continuing its destructive pull on every phantasm within range for a few more seconds, the youth watched as the phantasms whittled in numbers and were sucked into the infinite void created by the dark green orb till none was left.

Finally releasing the mana-draining spell after he was done, Aiden heaved a big sigh of relief, grateful that he didn’t lose control like the last time he had tried it.

"I must say though, being able to multicast is a pretty nice perk of getting to S-rank" the youth muttered to himself as he turned around mid-air and dashed back into the battle happening below him.

Truly, getting to S-rank was a daunting task for most people, but, the payoffs after one struggled to actually reach it was always worth it.

Being able multicast spells, despite how viciously mana-draining it was for most S-rankers and above, would definitely be a game-changer in a lot of inevitable battles they would definitely find themselves in.
