Extra And MC-Chapter 135 - 131 - Auction Events III
‹ ’Aiden. We’re in.’ ›
After sending that text, the four youths quickly looked for and huddled up at secluded corner and instead of speaking, began texting each other through a group they created specifically for this mission.
Adrian: Where exactly are we?
Flynn: Eastside corridor, presumably twenty steps away from the lounge room situated at the left turn up just up ahead.
Seeing that text, all three youths quickly took a peek from the corner they were at, and lo and behold, the corridor which was fairly littered with armed guards was exactly as Flynn said.
A bit taken aback by the eerie accuracy, Lucas was the first to text again.
Lucas: How exactly did you know that?!
Ivar: He has an exceedingly good memory…
’And I studied the entire blueprint overnight…’ Flynn thought to himself before instantly refocusing on the task at hand.
Flynn: Forget that. Right now, we need to head over to our respective stations. And remember, we aren’t able to use mana due to that darn machine so tread very, very carefully! Those guns will pierce through us like fluffy foam.
The assigned tasks given to each youth after much deliberation on their ends prior to today were these;
- Ivar to the back-up generator situated east of the underground structure, ensuring he keeps any possible monolith intruder from tampering with it.
- Adrian to the main-generator on the west-side, similarly tasked with the same thing as Ivar.
- Lucas to the mana-siphoning generator located at the south of the underground structure which was preventing the use of mana, tasked with either protecting or destroying it depending on how things go.

- Flynn to the north-side room where the auction materials were kept, preventing any possible theft of them.
The others however, were tasked with staying in the auction house itself, just in case The Monolith decided to go bold.
It was also why Aiden, the strongest among them, along with more than half of the rest of their group, were situated up there because, if they did decide to go bold, they wouldn’t skimp on the individuals they would assign to said task.
With deep breaths and a small nod, they all reactivated the cloaking feature of Ivar’s nano-band and immediately began to head over to their pre-determined posts.
Although Ivar’s cloaking tech ensured they wouldn’t be seen whenever it was activated, the feature had a limited activation time of ten minutes before it self-deactivated.
Even then, the feature would also occasionally malfunction on the experimental bands the other three asides Ivar himself had, an aftereffect of him having to implement in within a limited period of time and also with limited materials.
Hence, the moment they had come out of the previous room they had arrived in and had moved a fair distance away from there, roughly eight minutes from the moment they had activated it previously, it had de-activated itself.
Strongly taking that issue into consideration, the youths promptly split up and made their way to their respective destinations.
While each making their way through the underground structure of the auctions though, the youths were a bit surprised by the layout of it.
Considering they had only seen it through the blueprints, it made sense that they hadn’t expected it to be so… lavish in appearance…
More than an underground bunker of sorts, it seemed more like an opulent hotel with multiple rooms, each and every single one of them painted in invitingly soft creamy colors and also elegantly designed.
Red rugged carpets lined the beautiful corridors and hallways, the soft golden lights from the ceiling lights along with the shimmering diamond chandeliers and art pieces on the wall, adding even more to its oddly, unexpected, luxurious architecture.
But when each and every one of those hallways are lined up with fully armed guards who were making small talks here and there along with some pretty disturbing conversations, it was enough to remind the youths that were they were currently at was no joke at all.
"These guys above us just spend money like they pluck it from trees…" one guard said while scratching his nose as another who walked alongside him scoffed while responding.
"Yeah. As if you wouldn’t do the same if you were blessed with a shit ton of money and wealth"
"True. In fact, maybe I’d be far worse than them. Bars and strip clubs every night baby!" the first guard grinned while resting his hands on his assault rifle in a trained manner.
"How very depraved…" the other guard replied with a sigh.
As Flynn passed by both guards as silently as he could, despite still cloaked, he ensured to not graze them even by a tiny bit.
Turning around another short corner of the corridor and walking past the door to a small room though, the cloaking tech slowly began to reveal Flynn’s hands again and then eventually, his whole body.
’Seven minutes this time?! Shit! Need to be even more careful!’ the youth inwardly cursed, hoping no guard would make a turn around the corridor.
-Click!
Unfortunately for the youth though, the door which led to a small bedroom he had just passed by, had two guards come out almost immediately while talking.
"That was some good shit…" one of the guards sniffed while aggressively while shaking his head.
"Yeah. Real strong stuff! Got it fro-" the other guard suddenly whipped his head around mid-speech, his hands already on his pistol.
A bit taken aback by his partner’s sudden action, the other guard also turned around to check behind him with a similar alertness.
Not noticing anything in the brightly-lit yet short corridor, the guard threw a harmless jab at the head of his supposedly alert partner with the butt of his assault rifle.
"What the fuck man?! You scared the mana out of me! So fucking paranoid!"
"Yeah. Sorry about that. Guess I was just seeing things…" the guard with a pistol rubbed the part of his head where his partner had hit him while relaxing.
"Of course you’d me seeing things. You just sniffed a crap ton of that powder so what were you expecting" the other replied with a disappointed face-palm.
"Come on man! I’ve been using it for years now so why would I suddenly begin hallucinating just because it’s slightly stronger than the usual…" the latter replied while walking off as they turned around the corner.
-Drip! Tap!
A small bead of sweat landed on the red rug of the corridor a few seconds just after the guards had left.
Holding on to all sides of the corridor’s enclosed ceiling with his stretched legs and arms, Flynn couldn’t help but heave a sigh of relief as he dropped back onto the ground while muttering.
"Those gymnastic and acrobatic skills always come in clutch…"
Prior to the guards suddenly coming out of the room, the youth had swiftly used the walls of the enclosed corridor to his advantage and had leaped of its sides to lodge himself like a spider-web atop the roofing.
"Mother luck was on my side that there were no bulbs on this part of the ceiling though…" Flynn said as he instantly used the cloaking tech again which had a cooldown of only one minute.
As the lighting from the other ends of the corridor spilled in from both sides to illuminate the corridor he was in, it was understandable that there was no reason to put a lightbulb here since the short corridor just connected the other two long corridors to each other like a very short step.
It was also why the guards could quickly use the room just present there to dose on their hard drugs in the middle of their assigned positions without being spotted.
’That being said, I should just make a mental note to not use the cloak past five minutes’ Flynn inwardly said while staring down at the part of his wrist the nano-band was presumably on.
Ivar had explained to all of them previously before handing over the experimental nano-bands that since theirs wasn’t completely stable, it was necessary to prevent overheating of the gadget which could result in an explosion.
’Well if things do go south, I can rest easy knowing I brought that…’ Flynn thought to himself before he then continued internally.
’But it still doesn’t solve the major issue that we have…’ he peeked out from the corner as his eyes scanned the corridor he was now staring at which was filled to the brim with armed guards in black suits diligently patrolling it.
Security, when compared to the other places he had been infiltrating thus far, was exceedingly tight here, and with reason.
Just a short right turn and another short left turn just up ahead from him at the long end of the protected corridor, was a singular room which contained all the antiquities, treasures and goods which were going to be auctioned off today.
Flynn was also certain that that was the place where the Eclipsian Prism they so much needed to protect along with the other goods were was located.
As Flynn slowly retracted his cloaked head back into the enclosed corridor he was in, he finally completed his statement regarding the major issue that had made this infiltration mission a far more stressful task than it was supposed to have being.
’… seriously, that mana-siphoning device is a real pain in the ass!’
