Extra And MC-Chapter 155 - 151 - Old Friends, Current Enemies
Standing a few centimeters directly in front of his two cadets whom he considered quite foolhardy for their reckless behavior, Darius calmly stared at Magnus.
The Obelisk Arm on the other hand, had his eyes slightly widen from a bit of shock, another bittersweet expression instantly forming on his features.
Staring at Magnus for a few more seconds, a pin-drop silence occupying the massively wide room, the suave instructor turned around to face his two wards, both of whom had an extremely wry expression on their faces.
Gazing at them with an indifferent expression on his features, he calmly spoke.
"Aiden and Flynn Belmont. Both of you will be facing disciplinary actions for your reckless conducts"
"I presume you very much understand the reason for that?" he added in a questioning tone to which both brothers affirmatively nodded in response to while answering.
"We do!"
"Good. That’s my verdict as your Instructor" Darius coolly replied.
With a deep breath of air, the surprisingly calm instructor then spoke again.
"But from one ranker to the other, I greatly commend your indispensable efforts to stop The Railgun"
A genuinely surprised expression instantly formed on Aiden and Flynn’s features, both of whom now currently had their battle suit’s helmet retracted back to reveal their sweating faces.
"So, with that been said, go ahead and finish the mission. The rankers of The Tower will be here soon" Darius concluded with a sideways nudge of his head in the door’s direction.
Still a bit taken aback by his words, both brothers, upon finally realizing that they were given the complete go ahead to stop The Railgun, instantly responded with a resolute declaration.
"Yes sir!"
With an approving nod of his own, Darius then finally turned around to face Magnus who was consuming an advanced healing potion and a high-tier mana potion.
Having been given a few seconds to patch himself up while Darius was conversing with the two youths, the Obelisk Arm instantly took the chance.
Aiden and Flynn on the other hand, from the moment Darius had given them the go-ahead, had swiftly ran towards the door leading into the rest of the main base.
Watching as the automatic doors closed behind them as they quickly left, Magnus finally spoke out loud with a small grin.

"Hello old friend. Fancy meeting you here"
"Did you really have a hand in the creation of that weapon?" Darius calmly asked instead, not willing to respond to his old friend’s greeting.
"Tut! Tut! Same old Darius Forge. Even more stoic than I remember" Magnus also shrugged in response instead without answering the handsome instructor’s question.
"I do find it amusing that you think those brats can stop The Railgun though…" he quickly added with a pretty amused tilt of his head.
"They got this far and still put you through your paces though didn’t they?" Darius coldly replied but in his tone, there was an ever-so-slight, hint of mockery Magnus felt in the words directed at him.
Considering both of them had quite the history together, it was not beyond Magnus to know when Darius was mocking him, even with his usually indifferent expressions.
A palpably dangerous tension soon slowly filled the room though as both individuals stared at themselves in right in the eye.
Truth be told, although Darius hadn’t been sure of the SS-ranker whom his cadets had fought with during the entire auction house incident due to him being underground, he had his suspicions.
His suspicions where then further amplified when he had noticed the spells that were used to mass teleport the Monolith members on the day of the event.
But without wanting to cause any panic of sorts, he had decided to discreetly conduct his own investigations on the matter.
Soon enough, he was able to get a picture of Magnus’s face from his battle with Aiden through one of the security cameras present outside the parking lot he and Aiden had fought at.
Even though he could have gone to stop him the moment he found out a day after the incident, as an instructor, he still had to prioritize the safety of his cadets always over personal vendettas.
That should’ve also been the case on his way here.
However, after spreading his mana sense across the vast expanse of the entire Monolith base, something Aiden and Flynn despite their immense talent were not still capable of performing, he had noticed that there were no signs of life in the base.
This left him to believe that for some reason or the other, The Monolith members were either not around or just dead.
And when he did finally make his way in, he realized that his thoughts had been right regarding the latter.
It also didn’t take him quite long to realize who had been the perpetrator of such an ugly massacre.
But having realized this, he was sure that his two idiot cadets would at least be able to quite possibly stop The Railgun unobstructed by anymore assailants, hence one of his reasons for giving them the go ahead.
Even if they couldn’t, he knew the Tower would be here soon so they would sort it out as soon as possible.
His other reason though for sending his cadets away, was because he didn’t want them to get caught in the crossfire of he and Magnus’s battle considering they were SS-rankers after all.
"Say Darius… Would you believe me if I told you this was all for the greater good?" Magnus suddenly posed a question that broke the dangerous tension between them.
"I’d still take you in. Your weapon just murdered thousands of people and even now, it’s still on the loose" Darius replied, a slight frown forming on his stoic features.
"I’ve taken care of it though" the Obelisk Arm casually shrugged again, knowing fully well that after the last few places were destroyed, The Railgun wouldn’t be able to be activated again.
"It still doesn’t change what I need to do" the suave instructor coldly replied instead, a bit curious about his old friend’s words though.
-Sigh…
"Well then, let’s get this over with I guess…" Magnus sighed while cracking his neck and retrieving his tomahawks.
Darius on the other hand, retrieved his intricately-designed Jian, unsheathed it and then pointed it straight at Magnus.
And then, transcending the speed of sound, both individuals disappeared like a blur from where they were and instantly reappeared at the center of the room, their weapons clashing with sparks.
-Clang!!!
* * *
-Swoosh…
"This is odd…" Flynn commented out loud upon realizing just how empty the corridors were.
"Very odd…" Aiden added as he and his brother kept running at a speed the naked eye would have trouble keeping up with.
They had been following the map from the moment they had left the trap-room, as mentioned in the map.
Now, as they were swiftly making their way over to the control room, somewhere they had presumably decided they should be able to stop the railgun’s destructive rampage from, they were, to say the least, disturbed by the lack of no Monolith members present to hinder their advance.
It just made quite literally, no sense to them.
Adding to that, it was as if there were no traps in the main base.
That, was something they had at least also expected to run into at least even once.
It was also the reason they had asked Ivar to add sensors to the nano-bands. They had hoped for it to help the detect any traps before they triggered it.
And yet, right now, there wasn’t even any use-case for it.
Upon swiftly leaving another hallway though and continuously following the map to the control room, both brothers were soon assaulted suddenly by the wave of the slightly-sweet, metallic tang of blood.
The closer they got to their destination, the thicker the scent got.
Finally though, upon reaching the part of the labyrinthine corridors that led to the control room, Aiden and Flynn couldn’t help but have a genuinely horrific expression of shock paint their faces.
In front of them were the dead bodies of multiple Monolith members.
Their bodies piled up haphazardly like a heap of stones in various parts of the corridors and to say the sight was exceedingly gory to say the very least, would’ve been a severe understatement.
Skulls were severed from the neck and split open like a bashed watermelon, the brain matter drooping out.
Limbs were dismembered, strewn across the walls like a mosaic painting of sorts.
Bodies messily and brutally butchered in an inhumane manner, blood still flowing across the concrete flooring like a stream of water.
And so were the white walls, painted in the abstract art of smudged, spewed and splattered dried blood.
The fluorescent lighting of the corridors, which was constantly flickering on and off, only further added to the inhumane sight of utter carnage, massacre and brutality before them.
As both brothers gazed at the horrifying sight before them, they forcefully suppressed the feeling of nausea that was about to overcome them by reactivating their bloodlust.
Previously, they had deactivated it when Darius had arrived but now, they couldn’t help but reactivate again to numb down their emotions.
They had never seen such horrific sights in both of their entire lives and this, was genuinely a first for them.
’What exactly happened here?’ Aiden thought to himself while holding his nausea and Flynn was doing the same while having his own thoughts.
’Magnus was painted in blood from head to toe in blood when we saw him’
’Was this this his handiwork?!’ Flynn internally questioned, the uneasy feeling still disturbing his stomach.
Aiden who had also slowly come to the same realization as Flynn, soon asked himself the exact same question Flynn was currently asking himself.
’But why?!’
Slowly calming down, both brothers kept taking deep breaths and fighting back against the nausea.
Finally, after a while when they had both fully calmed down, they soon instantly began to run once again through the corridor from hell, intent on making their way over to the control room.
Finally reaching said control room, both brothers were once again met with a similar sight to the one in the corridor.
This time however, both brothers ignored the massacre before them and instead, stared at the expansive wide screen covering one side of the room before them.
Although it was almost fully drenched in dried blood like every other part of the room, along with dark blotches of ink seeping in from some destroyed parts of it, both brothers were still able to see what was going on quite well.
Watching as an intricately detailed map of Flenor Islands was being displayed on the map, they soon watched as it suddenly zoomed in on Bright-Fair Park.
Before both brothers could even do anything to stop the rays, it instantly fired its disintegrative rays, destroying the lush park in an instant.
Swiftly, without even bothering to fully take in the destruction, both brothers instantly began to search around the room.
Scanning around the room as fast as they could, Aiden’s eyes soon landed on the deceased Edgar Wright, a futuristically-slim tablet in his cold, dead hands.
"Flynn, over here!" he called out to his brother as he quickly went over.
Although Aiden wasn’t certain, he had a very strong hunch that the tab might at least provide a way to stop the railgun’s rampage.
Joining him, he and Flynn stared at the dead man for a brief second before he then picked up the tablet.
Instantly, as the youth picked up the tablet, both he and Flynn’s indifferent expression, despite still having bloodlust in effect, instantly broke.
