Extra And MC-Chapter 160 - 156 - Wrapping Up
"Huff! Huff! Huff!"
Breathing tiredly as he gazed down at Magnus, one of whose arm he had cleanly severed with a deadly slash of his Jian, Darius began to question him.
"Why did you create something so diabolical?" he asked with an apathetic expression.
The trap room they had battled in was now a mess of destruction and havoc as multiple deep gashes and marks littered its concrete floorings and metallic walls.
The brightly lit room was also nowhere to be seen as most of the fluorescent lightbulbs in the ceilings had gone out of commission to present a dimly lit white room instead.
All as a result of the aftermath of their last few minutes of battle.
Magnus on the other hand, kneeling in his own pool of blood from his severed arm, had a slight hint of pain on his face as he gazed up to stare at Darius straight in the eye.
Normally, this would’ve almost been nigh impossible since both men were separated by just a single-tier in their core ranks but the Obelisk Arm was already so tired from his previous battles.
It was inevitable that this would have eventually been the result, especially when put into consideration that Darius was so much more fit when he had arrived.
Masking the agonizing pain of a cleanly severed arm with a witty smile, Magnus watched as Darius’s chest heaved up and down, multiple cuts present on his black shirt and trousers.
"Speak right now or I’ll cleave your other hand off" Darius coldly declared this time, evident that he would actually spare no effort to do as he really said.
"Chill Darius. I already gave you an answer but you seem so hellbent on wanting to find another" Magnus grinned instead with a mixture of coyness and pain on his face, after which he then added.
"Besides, you’re asking the wrong questions since I only helped a little in its creation…"
"Rather than that, I know you’re actually curious as to why our Professor was heavily involved in its creation" he continued while shifting from his kneeling position to sit down, still in his pool of blood.
Darius, although knowing fully well that his old friend had hit the nail on his head with those words, still decided to not respond and just kept pointing his Jian downwards at him.
-Sigh…
"Well, even if you don’t speak, I’ll satisfy your curiosity old friend" Magnus sighed and continued speaking.
"The professor actually retired a few years after we had both left for Arcadia" Magnus began while staring up at the destroyed concrete ceiling full of flickering fluorescent lights.
"And then, just to make Flenor a much better nation, something that had always been his lifelong goal, he decided to begin creating hover cars, airships, teleportation portals and other useful items for far way cheaper than the normal standards…"
The moment Darius heard those words, a frown instantly formed on his stoic face.
The Instructor knew all too well that Flenor’s Government whom were full of people with insatiable greed and monopoly over everything money-printing would never allow such a thing to slide.
It was also one of the major reasons he and Magnus had left for Arcadia when they kept bothering them with positions in their ranks after they were finished with their academic years.
"Due to how exceedingly brilliant and kind-hearted the Professor was, he had been able optimize the things he built in such a way that ensured that despite taking lots of losses initially, he would regain his profits much later down the line when his brand really took off…" Magnus on the other hand kept speaking, still tightly gripping his severed arm to staunch the blood loss.
"During that time, despite nearing his mid-forties, he had also met a woman he completely fell in love with that went by the name of Denise"
"For a man whom had dedicated most of his life to raising talented young chaps like us back then…"
"It must have been an absolute blessing for him when Denise, although having many miscarriages previously, was finally able to birth a healthy baby girl"

"A baby girl he named Rosie…" Magnus paused for a few seconds, stared at Darius in the eye for a split second, and then continued.
"Professor Edgar lived happily for a few years and I think it’s safe to say he was content with that…"
"But that happiness was short lived and I’m pretty sure you also know who the cause for that is…" Magnus rhetorically questioned Darius to which the stoic instructor inwardly replied.
’The Central Government…’
"Yes. You might not say it out loud but I know you just inwardly replied" Magnus let out a small laughter, a hint of pain still present on his features as he did so.
"The Professor’s brand eventually took off and then, it began to pose a problem for all the big-wigs" Magnus continued speaking.
"At first, all they had done was only send minor threats and warnings to him in response, along with the occasional death threats here and there once in a while"
"But considering Edgar didn’t particularly fear them, it didn’t hinder him from doing what he wanted to do…"
"At some point though, when the threats started getting progressively worse, with all of his brands and some of his companies constantly getting sabotaged by ’unforeseen’ circumstances, the professor knew it was time to do as they wished, even though he hated them to the core of his being"
"He had a family after all and he was willing to bow down his head if it meant that they would be safe, especially when considering he wasn’t even an awakened individual…"
-Sigh…
"But by then, it was too late and the officials in the Central Government who were hellbent on ensuring that everything Edgar ever built was wiped out of existence, even extended their malice over to his wife and child" Magnus sighed and said while having a pretty sad expression on his features.
"At first, even after losing everything, he tried to appeal to the Court of Justice, even with the proof of the threat letters and all but, considering they were anonymously sent, it apparently hadn’t been a solid enough proof…"
"But the professor never faltered and still kept seeking for justice, spreading word of the terrible things that had been done to him, going as far as even shouting on the streets with a megaphone"
"That however, also turned out fruitless as everything he did fell on deaf ears…"
"He must’ve been so hurt that despite all of his best efforts to help the people of Flenor Islands over the years, none was willing to help him when it mattered the most"
"Having tried everything that he could, I’m pretty sure something just broke inside the Professor at some point and a pretty twisted sense of hatred was born out of it…"
"One that would make him go so far to create the Railgun just to make his hatred for both the Central Government and everyone in Flenor know how deep-seated it really was" Magnus concluded with a tired yet sad expression.
A pretty heavy and melancholic silence descended upon the dimly lit room for a few seconds.
After a short while though, Darius broke the silence while calmly asking a question.
"And how do you know all this?"
"Please. I spent the past year and a half with the Professor so of course I asked him" Magnus, despite being in pain, still managed to roll his eyes and scoff in reply as continued.
"The government may have wiped out all traces of it from the records and both sides of the internet but since the person they offended was still alive, I just asked him out of curiosity and he had been willing to share"
Upon hearing those words, Darius contemplated over it for a few more seconds.
However, just as he was about to ask another question again, he soon noticed a distortion in the air around him and immediately, dashed backwards in response on pure instinct, beads of sweat instantly forming on his face.
Appearing in a haze of golden particles of her own, almost like an inexplicable distortion in time and space itself, Morrigan calmly stepped out of it.
Gazing at Darius whose instincts were screaming at him to run, the strange, mysterious young woman with an otherworldly beauty, just turned over to Magnus and without any explanation, instantly disappeared with him.
But just before that, he had watched as Magnus waved over to him with a smile while mouthing the words ’Till next time’.
’Who… was… that?’ Darius slowly asked himself.
Still confused by the sudden occurrence, the suave instructor, soon recovered when he suddenly heard a beep on his smartwatch.
Checking the message, Darius soon realized that it was from one of the rankers whom had just entered the control room.
Upon reading it, Darius instantly used [Swirling Haze] again and in a few seconds, made his way to the control room.
The moment he appeared, the first thing his eyes settled on was the deep large hole present in the middle of the bloodied room littered with dead bodies.
"We’ve already sent a few rankers over to investigate that but I think you may want to see this" the ranker whom had previously messaged him said while pointing to Edgar’s dead body.
Darius stared at the Professor’s dead body for a few seconds with complex emotions in his eyes but as he was doing so, the ranker beside him spoke again.
"And then this" he shifted his fingers to the screen which was displaying the rays landing on the Aquamaris.
What was more strange though, was how nothing, absolutely nothing was happening as the rays descended.
The people who were also shown in the feed, seemed to be undisturbed by it and were just cheering happily.
’What’s going on here?’ Darius curiously commented inwardly.
Just as he did, another ranker present in the room, rewound the entire feed to about three minutes ago when the entire spectacle of Aiden and Flynn lifting The Railgun from underground and destroying it in the stratosphere had unfolded.
Widening his eyes in shock, Darius had instantly realized what had happened and just as he did, he also received two texts from Cordelia with a beep on his smartwatch.
⸢ They’re safe. ⸥
⸢ And The Railgun is destroyed. ⸥
