Extra's Perfect Ending-Chapter 224: Question
That is to be expected from the representative that someone chooses. The person defending has to have power in their faction while the person that is accusing could be someone who knows a lot about the situation. Usually people people at the top would not come, they know too much
After the pope heard Haris, he nodded.
"Even if that’s true, your brother Reeva had been escorted back to the capital in a mobile prison. You are not involved in this event at all?"
"We are not involved in this incident at all, Reeva put himself into that position. He only monitors his business"
The pope nods his head again. Harris wasn’t lying the only involvement they had was that of Reeva’s business activity, other than that, the duke has been fairly hands-off with Reeva. They’re very concrete about letting Reeva go.
"Then did you assist Reeva when he was leaving the capital?"
Haris squeezes his eyes and considers the question. It’s tricky because they didn’t directly assist Reeva, like giving him direct help. The only thing that could get him in trouble was when the church order came to arrest Reeva, but they ignored it.
"We did give him 100 stac to set up his future when leaving the capital."
His best plan of action here is to shift the focus to something else. Not the actual assistance they had provided to Reeva, but an indirect one that did not involve them in anything. They could give a mass murderer 100 stacs and be unaware of their actions. That wouldn’t count as help helping a mass murderer.
The pope nods again, making the Tudor representative go deeper into this line of question.
"Did the 100 stac you give to Reeva associate in helping him involved with a heretic?"
"As far as we know, Reeva used his money to start up his own business"
The pope nods again. This time, Rouos couldn’t help but bite his nails. He needs to ask something that would result in Haris having to lie. He doesn’t even need to prove that Reeva is involved with a heretic, however, right then Rouos notices something.
"Wait why isn’t Reeva in this Trial?"

He realizes that he could get the truth out of Reeva himself. It’d be far easier for Reeva to slip up than his brother.
"Reeva has been in deeper prison receiving punishment"
That’s the biggest lie the public will receive. Coming from the pope himself, as per Reeva’s wish, they have covered his identity, only a selected few know that the former heretic had already become the apostle of the sun god.
Haris had no comment about such a thing, otherwise, the pope would say it was a lie. Haris would be in trouble then.
"Reeva had already been imprisoned! That means the church has found them guilty! Did you know that he formed a star?"
"I’m not sure" He only talked to Reeva one time, and then he had been busy setting up the deal in this court session. So this answer draws a nod from the pope.
"That means he has powers correct?"
"Yes"
The moment that Hari confirmed Rouos’s statement. The crowd murmurs something.
"It’s widely known that Reeva had his circle broken by the prince, yet from your answer, he still has his Antores power correct?"
Rouos couldn’t help but smile. He was onto something, this line of question has some potential to pin the Antores house.
"No, he has differnt power"
Drawing a nod from the pope again, Rouos’s smile grew wider and wider. His eyes start to see the fall of Antores family.
"Then, that’s even more daming! Usually, people who form a star have differnt powers than the original! The fact that you know this means that you have been in contact with Reeva recently. When was the last time that you met Reeva?"
"What did you talk about?"
"I go to check on him since I haven’t met him for so long and we won’t be able to meet for a while. We only talk about drugs and church secrets"
Rouos tilted his head a little.
"The church’s secret? what’s that?"
Upon the question, Haris turned his head to look at the pope. Gazing into the distance the pope then said.
"Haris can’t talk about that"
There were some instances of this in the past where the subject involved the church’s secret. Naturally, if it’s a real church secret then the pope could confirm. Rouos couldn’t help but change his angle to the drug part.
But that line of questioning is pointless because it is well-known that Reeva used drugs heavily while attending the academy. The guy made no attempt to conceal his activities, but Reeva could not be blamed for that.
They moved onto Hilda a bit but after saying that they’re not in control of Hilda’s decision, Gouos let go.
The church does discourage the use of drugs but they didn’t outright say that it’s bad. Moreover, tons of nobles would have been burned if they banned drugs. After that line of questions was done, Rouos was out of ideas.
"Are you done?"
The pope said, glancing at Rouos for an answer. The man racked his brain, trying to think about anything but he had nothing to say. The silence is long enough to conclude this trial.
"Since the Tudor side has nothing more to say, then we’ll conclude the morning session here. We will continue with the 13Th Prince trail at 1 pm."
"Wait, Your Majesty before you go"
Haris is quite happy with the outcome of this trial, the question has been rather close for Haris to reveal that he has been colluding with a Reeva but he narrowly led the conversation to somewhere else where two times.
By giving Rouos a false angle to attack from.
Haris slid the letter to the pope while kneeling. Giving his holiness the respect he deserves. The pope received the letter and read it, after that he smiled.
"The trial held by Antores to judge the 13th prince will be canceled! You’re free to leave"
The pope’s announcement sent uproar among the crowd, many question why such a big decision had been withdraw. Why did the Antores who said to hold grudges willing to back off, or even why the church is not taking action since Brent has been shielding Reeva?
When the guy has been confirmed to be a heretic is serving his sentence. Even the on looker that doesn’t involve themself in politics knows that there must be something going on that they don’t know.
