Looking down the snow-covered path, Theia could only walk carefully. It had been days since they departed from the village. She misses the warmth of a roof over her head.

Traveling in winter was her preferred season to travel. Especially when she had to walk on foot. Luckily, most of the time, Egul would cast his mystic power on them, making the snow feel like mild obsticle. But he couldn’t maintain his power all day.

The main reason was that he ran out of things to eat. Beef jerky was not filling his belly enough. Theia suspected that Egul had some power left, but he’s saving it for emergencies.

She could only sighed and tred her leg along the thickening snow. Had they found some animal, she would not have to exert this much force.

Since yesterday, Egul wasn’t lucky. Even with his insane speed and exceptional hunting skills, he could not find any game.

Egul believes it was luck. Hunting is highly dependent on it. Even the best hunter in the world would tell you that luck was a massive component in their success.

However, Theia felt like something was amiss. A fifth-circle mystic hunter like Egul, with exceptional speed and high endurance, couldn’t find any animals.

It was as if they were avoiding them. But she couldn’t be sure. Her life as an aristocrat didn’t help much when traveling in the wild.

"Was this kind of wierd?"

On day three, she voiced her suspicion. Judging from past events, Egul would have at least found one deer by now, so three days without anything is rather strange.

However, she also felt embarrassed to say it, worrying if Egul would take it as an insult. But the hunter didn’t care because he felt the same.

"I agree"

Egul repied with a stern voice. His eyes search around the place, wary of potential hunter traps.

"Maybe you’re just bad at your job..."

Before Leon could finish his sentence, his head got hit with a fist. Sending it down to kiss the ground.

"You would be a massive help if you shut the hell up."

Egul couldn’t deal with the guy anymore.

"Maybe there’s some ancient magic that we’re in or an illusion! Oh, that would be fun!"

Hilda couldn’t help but throw a knife at the doctor. His body fell on the floor more violently than Leon. The blonde tribesman couldn’t help but place his hand on his neck and feel the skin. Contemplating if he could get stabbed by Egul.

"You also shut up."

They walk further into the forest., passing by another mountain. Most of the time, the party did not talk. They only walk carefully along the mountain range; with Egul leading them, they hardly encounter traps.

Eccept for that one time Leon fell into one. Luckily, he was saved by Egul power. Now the man was more paranoid than ever, looking for every weird bump and tracing the exact step of the one before him.

After some time, the sun started to set again. They luckily find a little cave to take refuge in. Another day of Theia slepping on the floor. She could never get used to it.

"I’ll go hunting again; hopefully we’re lucky this time."

Egul left for another round of hunting. Leaving them to set up camp. Like always, they start up a campfire, anticipating the arrival of an animal and giving their party warmth.

While they waited, Theia chatted a bit with Hilda, and before long, Egul had come back. This time with a deer in his back.

The mood had increased the moment Egul arrived. They were tired of eating beef jerky; this meal would be a nice change of pace.

However, in contrast to the smiling crowd, Hilda notices that Egul wasn’t that happy.

"What’s wrong?"

"See for yourself."

The deer flopped on the floor; Egul had thrown it without much care. All the people gather around to see what’s wrong with it.

At first glance, it looks like a perfectly fine deer, but if one were to look closer, the deer will start to seem weird.

First, pactes on the deer body that look like injuries. Spread across its body like a cow’s dark spot. It seemed normal for a deer that survived a wolf hunt.

But what isn’t normal is the fact that these scars have a pattern that swirls like a storm. It was impossible for a wolf to inflict these kinds of wounds.

Second of all, the most obvious out of the two was the deer face. Contort in an impossible way and swilr like the scar. It’s eyes sideways and mouth twisted and couldn’t be open anymore.

Theia reacted in disgust the moment she saw it. Hilda covered her mouth a little, and Leon staggered backward. All of them haven’t seen this kind of thing before.

Except for one person. Egul keenly noticed the reaction or lack there off from the doctor.

"You know about this?"

Everyone’s attention turned to him in a flash. Their eyes birn into his skin, looking for an explanation to this bizarre situation.

"Hey, don’t act like I’m an expert on this. I barely know about it myself."

The doctor threw his hands up.

"Any information helps."

Egul wouldn’t turn down free info; he needed to know everything to handle this situation. His time as a hunter and a mystic for years didn’t prepare him for this thing.

He has seen worse, but this is not normal either.

"Fine, but you need to give something in return. This information is top secret."

"I might just not kill you today."

"That’s not a good deal!" The doctor puffed up his cheeks.

"Tell me or I’ll kill you right now."

"Tch," the doctor clicks his tongue. "I came across these things years ago in the southern region. The tribe people call it nature’s wrath. It spread among the animals and eventually brought harm to the people. As far as I know, there’s no cure to this condition."
