Chapter 34: Ms Piper, You’re Falling

Luellen walked to her desk and looked at her laptop. The maiden circled the desk and looked for the manual switches for the lights. She could only turn on the lights and finish her work before going home. At the very least, she still accomplished Gala’s challenge. She would just deal with getting locked in after that.

The clock in the room registered a quarter past ten. Luellen only glanced at the clock before shoving a sweet roll down her mouth. The Yellow Hearts shop could only sell desserts to keep her energy up. They didn’t even fill her tummy as they were like magic food.

"I just need to arrive before Ms Gala does. I need the document to send the updated version." Luellen chewed her food and sipped her royal milk tea. Her last keystrokes were in, and the document was finished.

"It’s done...!" Luellen sighed and leaned on her chair. She then looked at the desk, catching the exact moment when the royal milk tea’s tall cup vanished.

She stretched her arms and patted her chin. It was now time to find a way out of the office. Then again, she looked at the small ensuite. She got up from her seat and entered, seeing how an additional cupboard showed up. A small smile curled her lips. Nice! The system treated it as her dedicated space!

Luellen could have asked for help, but she had a dependable system.

She removed her makeup and refreshed her face. The Yellow Hearts shop offered a single-use sleeping bag, so she could only use it to sleep on the wide and soft rug.

...

"...Luellen...?" A voice flitted into her ears. A big, warm hand even patted her shoulder. "Luellen...?"

The maiden opened her eyes and saw darkness all over. It seemed that it was still nighttime. She pulled a curtain to make a slit before going to bed. It should have helped her wake up as soon as the morning came. Then again, she was woken up by a voice. It was not even the system’s daily greeting.

Luellen rubbed her eyes and hummed. Perhaps the voice was her imagination. It was just that a hand patted her shoulder again. She turned behind her to find Leander.

The CEO kneeled on the floor, almost hovering over her. He frowned at her groggy state. "Luellen? Are you all right?"

"Mr Leander?" Luellen whispered, and the man nodded. She then felt tension rattle her entire body. This time, Leander retreated fast enough to evade her. "Mr Leander! Wait, what time is it? Why are you here already?"

"Relax, it’s midnight." Leander took out his phone and showed her a feed. It was the inner office in real time. "I saw you here through this. The meeting just ended. I drove back here after dropping Henny off her place. Can you tell me why there was a chair blocking the door? You didn’t even call for help."

Luellen stayed seated. She glanced at the phone and then chuckled. "Mr Leander, does that camera record?"

Leander locked his phone and then lightly squinted at her. "Why? Did you do something to my desk?"

The maiden shook her head. She then worked on unzipping the sleeping bag. "Uhm, I could have changed out of my clothes in the camera’s view. I don’t want it recorded. Wait, I’m not properly clothed even until now!"

Right, she had to remove her bra before sleeping. She also lost the pajama that she wore instead of her tight skirt.

"Oh..." Leander chuckled and shook his head. "No, it doesn’t. I just use it to see if someone breaks into my office. I already received a few pings from it. Nothing should be moving in my office past ten."

"I see... Can I get to the bathroom to change?"

Luellen said so, but she was freaking out within her. She already dumped her clothes into her laundry hamper. The office stopped being a dedicated space, and so the hamper was gone. What was she supposed to wear? She couldn’t even explain things to him. Should she just... lie about tossing her clothes away?

Leander hummed and got to his feet. He took out his phone and opened the inner office’s door. "I’ll tell Henny to bring clothes for you in the morning. Get yourself sorted."

The door closed, and Luellen almost broke out of the sleeping bag. Since it was single-use, it vanished as soon as she got up. She raced to the ensuite and grabbed her clothes from the hamper. She quickly got dressed, seeing how the additional cupboards and cabinets faded out of sight.

"Change of plans." Leander knocked on the ensuite’s door. "We’re going home. That will be more fruitful."

"Eh? But I shouldn’t!" Luellen left the ensuite, wearing her cardigan. She raced to her desk. "The network got cut earlier. I have to upload this to the shared folder before Ms Gala comes here tomorrow. She arrives quite early if she wants to."

Leander walked to his locked drawer and took out a data cable. "Use your phone. We can also use Houston’s tablet. He left it with me."

Luellen looked at Leander as if he was a lifesaver in her sinking ship. She smiled and borrowed the data cable. The first secretary had to leave early, so Leander had to handle matters on his own for a few hours. It was quick to access the laptop’s local files and uploaded it into the share folder.

A heavy sigh came from Luellen. She ended up hugging Leander, who was folding the data cable. "Whaaa! Thank you! Thank you! I don’t know what Ms Gala could have...!

"I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to hug you, Mr Leander!" Luellen flinched and stepped back. However, she tripped on her own chair. Her sleep was too short to relieve her body from all the stress she had to deal with. She went horizontal fast.

Leander grabbed her waist and pulled her body against him to keep her from falling. He smiled. "Careful, Ms Piper. You’re falling."

Luellen looked up at him, cheeks fully red. In this darkness, his face was all she could see. It was just that... the [First Kiss] prompt came again. Instead of retreating, Luellen grabbed Leander’s face with both hands.

She screamed, "I don’t have enough energy for this!"

...

A small smile was Beckett’s greeting to Luellen. The lady arrived in the joint kitchen-dining area a few minutes past six. Her entire body even shivered at that rather suggestive smile.

Beckett leaned on the island. "Luellen, you’re here again. I think you should be elevated to second-floor status now!"

"Second-floor status?" Luellen took a seat on the bar stools at the kitchen island. "What does that mean?"

"Let’s see..." Beckett hummed before attending to what he was cooking. "Andy’s room is on the second floor. Mine used to be on the second floor, too, but I was demoted. You usually stay in a guest room. If you’re staying over frequently, you should get a room for yourself. Of course, it will be on the second floor!"

He grinned. "Might even be next to Andy’s room!"
