Chapter 154: Chapter 153: I Will Bring Back the Real You

Oliver Gale returned to the Capital City, went back to Riventon Hospital, and back to the ward, but suddenly realized that Quiana Sutton’s figure on the hospital bed had disappeared without a trace.

He walked over to Julian Haworth, who was sleeping soundly on the sofa, and kicked him, "Where’s Quiana Sutton?"

Julian rubbed his blurry eyes and said drowsily, "Wasn’t she always on the bed?"

Oliver Gale: "..."

"Come on, Young Master, get up and take a look. Is she still on the bed or not?"

Julian got up suspiciously and checked, his eyes widening—there was no sign of Quiana on the bed anymore.

Oliver watched Julian look under the bed and rummage through the cabinets with a somewhat silly innocence, leaving Oliver with a headache as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Enough. Get the surveillance footage out."

It was only then Julian reacted, hurriedly running to the monitoring room to pull up the cameras.

When Quiana left the hospital, she seemed to purposely glance at the surveillance camera, her dark eyes like enormous black holes in the universe, swirling, silent, as if able to devour everything within sight.

Even through the camera, Oliver Gale could feel his heart suddenly skip a beat.

He couldn’t help but wonder—was the person in the camera really still Quiana?

Though she looked exactly the same.

Julian was responsible for watching over both Quiana Sutton and Durrell Landon, and now he’d lost track of Quiana, leaving him anxious and flustered.

"Oliver, where do you think Quiana would go?"

Fatigue lingered on Oliver’s face, his mood turning gloomier: "No idea. Her legs are her own, I can’t decide for her."

For all that, he couldn’t explain why a sense of unease was spreading deep in his chest.

It felt like something huge was about to happen.

By the time Charles Foote came to the hospital at night, there was still no word or news about Quiana.

Julian even called several times, but the phone kept showing as powered off.

He nearly lost it and wanted to smash his own phone.

"Durrell risked himself to save her and ended up hospitalized, and she just disappears without even a sound."

He glared furiously at Charles Foote, who was standing nearby: "Knight, use your intel network. I have to get her back and make her apologize to Durrell."

Charles said coolly, "Are you sure Durrell would even let her apologize like that?"

After a brief pause, he continued, "We’d better worry about what will happen if Durrell wakes up and can’t find her."

Given how much Durrell cared about Quiana, with her gone like this, Charles seriously doubted Durrell wouldn’t end up back in the operating room again.

He instructed Aaron to organize a full-scale search for Quiana’s whereabouts.

In the end, they learned she had already left the Capital City.

As for where she was headed, for now it remained unknown.

Looking over Quiana’s movement report, Julian was thoroughly confused: "Why would she suddenly leave the Capital City at a time like this? And where would she even go?"

Oliver Gale furrowed his brows slightly, "Did you forget? No matter what, she’s still from Sutton Estate. Back then, Old Mr. Sutton wanted to bring her home. Maybe she left the Capital just to return there."

Julian: "..."

He spoke with honest puzzlement, "That old man gave her the cold shoulder the whole time, are you sure she’d go back to be treated like garbage?"

No matter how thick-skinned he was, even he could see the hatred in that old man’s gaze—almost like she was his enemy. Even when he looked at Nathan Firth, he seemed more amiable than when he looked at her.

If it were him, he definitely wouldn’t go back just to be treated badly.

Charles Foote interrupted Julian and Oliver’s discussion, "Let’s stop speculating for now. I’ll try to track down Quiana’s whereabouts. You stay with Durrell and keep this news from him for now."

Julian: "..."

...

Night.

The moon was hidden behind the clouds.

Riventon Hospital seemed shrouded in a faint mist, the entire building becoming hazy and blurred.

Durrell Landon, lying on the hospital bed, was having a dream; he dreamt of Quiana walking away without turning back, him unable to catch up no matter how hard he chased, leaving only loneliness and despair behind in that place.

Before Quiana’s silhouette completely faded, he vaguely heard a sentence:

"Durrell Landon, you promised no matter what happens, you would find me again. Don’t forget that..."

The voice echoed endlessly in his mind, like a spell he couldn’t break free from.

He jolted awake, staring up at the white ceiling, the white sheets, and realized he was in the hospital.

He struggled to sit up and saw Julian Haworth sleeping on the sofa. The dream felt so real, it made him anxious and restless; he wanted to get out of bed to find Quiana, but ended up falling to the floor. Hearing the noise, Julian immediately woke up.

Seeing Durrell awake, Julian was visibly excited.

"Durrell, finally, you’re awake."

Durrell let Julian help him back to the bed, feeling a trace of weakness,

"Where’s Quiana?"

At that name, Julian instinctively uttered "Ah," opened his mouth, hesitated, and finally said, "Durrell, it’s so late, she’s surely sleeping at Imperial View Manor. Find her tomorrow."

Durrell stared fixedly at Julian, "Then help me call her."

"She must be asleep with her phone off right now."

"She never turns her phone off when sleeping."

Julian: "..."

Knight told him to make something up to fool Durrell—God, it’s honestly the hardest thing in the world.

Julian hemmed and hawed for ages, unable to squeeze out a single word. Durrell sensed something was wrong, that maybe something really had happened.

He suddenly straightened, his whole demeanor sharpening, his eyes cold and his face dark, slicing out in a harsh tone:

"Julian, I want the truth—did something happen to her?"

Julian quailed under Durrell’s gaze, feeling his legs turn weak, and stammered,

"No, nothing happened, she... she..."

"Then what’s going on with her?"

Julian steeled himself and decided to just tell Durrell the truth:

"She left the Capital. Right now, we don’t know where she is."

"Really?"

Hearing this, Durrell actually felt a wave of relief.

He’d feared he hadn’t managed to shield her from that bullet, that he’d never get to see her again.

But memories of his dream stirred that deep sense of unease once again, panic and anxiety clouding over him:

"Why would she leave the Capital City for no reason?"

Julian: "..."

He wanted to cry—how could he possibly know what Quiana was thinking?

Suddenly, he remembered something—the hospital surveillance videos.

Durrell watched the footage and finally understood the meaning of his dream.

Her alternate personality had fully awakened and taken control of her body, so she sent him a dream, hoping he’d find the real her again.
