Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 154: Lover’s spat?
Chapter 154: Lover’s spat?
The force with which she was thrown back was enough to launch all the air out of her chest and send her coughing hysterically, like she was about to cough up her lungs. But even before she raised her head, she could smell the peculiar scent she only perceived on Cain—a deep, musky aroma that now seemed to overflow and pervade every one of her senses looking up to see him tower over her.
"What-what the hell?" she spat out, only to feel his grip on her hair tighten enough to make her squint as he pulled until she had no choice but to lift her gaze to meet his own.
Her vision was still blurry, but that didn’t stop Violet from being aware that Cain was immensely furious. She could tell by the way he gripped her hair tight enough to almost rip it out of her scalp.
"Stop! You’re hurting me!" Violet snapped, but she wasn’t surprised to see Cain not so much as lighten his hold as he began to speak in a tone so cold it was icy. freewebnoveℓ.com
"My bad! I really have been lenient with you, haven’t I?" he asked in a low tone, his face inches away from Violet’s even as he held her hair, trying to reduce the pull on it, only to fail as she flinched and heard him continue to speak.
"I hurt you? Where?" he continued with a bite in his tone, tightening his grip ever so slowly, enough to make her eyes water and gasp in pain.
"Your eyesight has been returned, and no part of your limbs is missing! Yet..." The sound of him grinding his teeth together in anger was audible as he paused for a second before continuing to speak.
"Yet—you dared to reject me!"
Violet could hear her heart thumping in her chest, and although she couldn’t see the expression on his face, she could feel the air around him and the way he didn’t hesitate to keep tightening his hold—so painfully it almost felt like she was already bleeding. Yet Violet had no intention to beg.
If—if I reject you, you can find someone else! she told him with tears in her eyes, only to regret those words the second she said them. Cain did let her go, but he sent her straight to the floor. Violet didn’t feel relief as she watched him back away, yet all she could think was that he only did so to stop himself from killing her on the spot.
"Someone that wants—"
"Go ahead! Reject me!" Cain suddenly said in a tone that was much harsher than before, sending new goosebumps through her arms as she scrambled back to her feet, warning signs ringing in her head, telling her not to utter such words again.
"Go ahead..." he said again, even as she watched him turn toward the table and pick up something that seemed to be a table knife—one used for eating, but in Cain’s hands, he might as well have been holding a gun.
Violet trembled from head to toe, not daring to open her mouth and utter those words, even as Cain urged her, continuing to speak.
"...If you do, then you’re completely worthless to me!" he said, Violet hearing the other half of what he failed to say but completely understood. ...If you’re worthless, then you might as well be dead!
At this point, the only thing left for Violet to do was to reason with him, even if she knew the result before she began. "I’m a witch! I’m a danger to you if I—"
But Cain wasn’t done speaking as he continued to toy with the knife in his hand. "...And if you ever mention rejecting me again, I’ll cut off the tongue I fixed!" he warned her in a tone that promised much more than he said if she dared fight him.
At that point, Violet was rendered silent as she stared at him, unwilling to let things go. "...You could be mistaken! Maybe—maybe it’s not me! It’s not like these things are written in—" Violet began to speak, trying to get him to reconsider how utterly crazy it was for him to claim her as his mate.
But she had just begun to speak when she watched him dash forward toward her in a way that made her instantly stumble back in shock and horror, her eyes focused on the knife in his hands, even as she watched him appear right in front of her.
"Wha-what are you—" but she was still speaking when she felt his hands reach behind her head and pull her closer, until their faces were touching and their lips did the same. Violet’s instinctive response was to lean away, even as the pleasure that thrummed through every part of her and coursed through her veins surged like a wave.
Cain didn’t let up as he sank into the kiss, moving his lips passionately against hers and pulling her body closer to his as he wrapped his arms around her. Violet was still pissed, angry, and above all, all she wanted was to distance herself from him.
Yet...yet, she could feel her body betray her as she felt him part her lips open and slide in his tongue, wrapping it around hers in a way that made butterflies buzz in her belly, followed by a heat that streamed right between her legs.
"Ca-Cain!" she tried to call out, only to feel his lips graze her bottom lip ever so slightly but hard enough to draw blood and make her gasp, opening her mouth even more the moment she tried to seal it shut to prevent him from taking control.
Her arms were fixed against the front of his shirt as she pushed against him, fighting the urge that whispered temptingly into her ears to rip his shirt off.
She wanted him...wanted him enough to forget about who he was and what he was. At that moment, all she wanted was his body, and after a few moments, everything else paled compared to her need to touch him and have him do the same.
