Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 155: A Fellow Witch
Chapter 155: A Fellow Witch
No longer able to continue to refuse, Violet tightened her hold on his shirt and moved her lips gently against his in response, kissing him back as voraciously as he kissed her.
Her body heated up with every second that passed, so much so that she was completely unaware of when Cain picked her up off the ground, carrying her straight to the bed with their lips and bodies entwined.
Violet had just been dropped onto the bed, the urge to say something sprouting within her, only to release nothing but a gasp as she felt Cain’s hands dive right under her clothes, even as she stammered to speak in that very moment.
"I—I think—Sto-stop!" Her voice trembled as she spoke, even more surprised when she felt Cain’s movements slow down. She could see his profile, but her vision was still too messed up to see the expression on his face. That didn’t stop her from hearing the smug tone in his voice when he spoke to her, pulling his hands away from her skin.
"Like I said... you’re my mate! It’s a fact you should get used to!" Cain said, but Violet was already rolling further away from him, off the bed, muttering under her breath in a slightly out-of-breath tone that annoyed her even more.
Her cheeks flushed red as she raised her hands to pat them, almost like she could erase the color in them. "It just shows I’m attracted to you... nothing more!" But she had just mumbled out the words as she sat on the edge of the bed a few feet from Cain when she heard him respond with a hint of amusement in his tone.
"If you’re still unconvinced, then you should go ahead and accept me!" he said, but even though there was a bit of humor in his tone, there was also a serious note that worried Violet when she heard it.
"All you have to do is say your name, then mine, and accept me!" Violet wasn’t looking in his direction, but regardless, she could feel the intense gaze he fixed on her as he spoke.
Violet didn’t know how to respond and simply chose not to. Instead, she fixed her eyes on the bed and groaned about feeling weak. "My—my head hurts!" she said in a light tone, placing her fingers against her forehead, doing her best to make her act as convincing as possible.
"I want to be alone. I just need—" she began, rushing over her words as she watched Cain approach her from the other side. This immediately made her flinch as she stamped down the urge to scramble back.
"I haven’t hurt you, Violet! There’s no reason to be scared of me!" he said to her, even as Violet tried to cover herself back with the sheets, pulling them all the way to her neck as she waited for Cain to leave.
"...Unless you give me a reason to!" he finished, and Violet immediately nodded her head to show that she understood. "I understand!" she said, even as she turned to the side and closed her eyes, waiting to hear the door close and for him to leave.
The memory of her kissing him a few minutes ago was still fresh in her mind, but she refused to dwell on it. She buried her face in the bed, not moving until she heard the door of the room shut behind her. Only then did she jerk up, throwing the sheets off her, and look around with apprehension, taking a breath of relief after she was convinced that Cain had indeed left.
Violet knew she could have argued and screamed at him, but no matter what she said, it wasn’t actually his fault. The only thing he could be blamed for was keeping her in the mansion—and even that wasn’t really against her will.
"Mates..." she mumbled to herself, not at all liking the sound of that. To make matters worse, she knew that accepting or rejecting each other by word of mouth wasn’t the only way to seal the deal, since biting her could give the same result.
"What the hell am I thinking!" Violet snapped, raising her hands and slamming them against her forehead as she squeezed her eyes shut. Again, images of what had happened flashed in her mind.
Fiona... and the servants she had ordered to kill her. Moreover, she also knew just how powerful Fiona’s father was and how much he could hurt her if he wanted to.
In a split second, Violet made her decision as she opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling, realizing that she could no longer stay in the mansion—even for her family’s sake.
Once my eyes recover... I’ll run! Violet decided at that very moment, a deep frown on her face. She was nothing but a poor human who lived in the lower sections of the city. Being the Lord’s mate was something that could never work. It was simply waiting for another one of his werewolf admirers to kidnap her again and cut her into pieces.
The more she thought about it, the more strongly she believed it as she came to a decision. Once my eyes have fully recovered... I’ll run, she repeated with a fierce look in her eyes. She was confident that as long as she carefully planned it, with the authority of being his lover, getting away would be easy.
A few minutes later, tired, Violet fell asleep, and she didn’t wake up until the sun was setting in the sky, the yellow rays streaming in through the windows. Violet’s eyes had only just fluttered open when she realized her vision had been completely restored. She could see like before, almost as if her eyes had never been removed.
I can wait for a couple of days for Cain to leave the mansion before I make my move! Violet thought, rubbing her eyes as she stretched her limbs. She heard a heavy knock on the door and was surprised to see the person at the door walk in a second later without waiting for her to call out.
At first, she assumed it was Cain, but one look as they entered and shut the door behind them was enough to show it was a woman with a dark veil on her head. She was short but also young, even if the features of her face were mostly hidden as she walked closer to Violet, who looked warily at her and watched her come to a stop in front of the bed.
"Who are you?" Violet asked, scared, but her tone didn’t betray her as she sent a scathing look at the strange woman, only to relax when she heard her response.
"I was in charge of healing you! I’m just here to make sure that you’re completely healed!" the woman responded. Violet was nodding in understanding, about to open her mouth and thank her, only to take note of the word the woman used: heal!
In a split second, she raised her head, her gaze becoming more intense as she fixed it on the woman and spluttered out, "You’re a witch!" she gasped in a tone above a whisper, her eyes wide with shock as she realized there was no way a normal doctor would have been able to restore her sight after her two eyeballs had been plucked out.
"Yes, my lady. It seems your eyesight has fully—" But Violet didn’t wait for her to finish, cutting her off as she scrambled off the bed entirely and moved closer to her with a panicked expression, one that held a tinge of hope.
"I—I’m a witch too!" she said in the lowest of whispers, speaking words she had never openly expressed. She continued in the same breath, "...You can teach me! You can teach me how!"
The thought of being able to use magic was thrilling, but at the same time, she refused to believe that while witches could heal, they couldn’t also harm people, considering the way werewolves and even Reds were scared of them.
"You can teach me how to use magic!" Violet repeated her words with a tinge of desperation in her tone as she spoke
